Hello! |
02:41 |
cimbakahn |
Do you know where there's any owners, admins, or moderators for [MSC] Creative? |
02:42 |
cimbakahn |
I was just on their server for the second time and I noticed the whole city was griefed with water. I fixed 6 places, but there is still 4 more to go. |
02:44 |
cimbakahn |
I get the impression that they just created a minetest server and left, because there was no one on the server the entire time I was on it. It was the same thing the first time I was on it, no one there. |

suppose I have two laptopts. I sign into my server with my first laptop as dustfinger. I play, then sign out. Then I sign in to my server on my second laptop also as dustfinger,. It complains that the name is already taken. How can I sign in as the same user on a different computer? |
05:53 |
dustfinger |
nm. Issue was that I capitalized the D the first time I created it. I created my user as Dustfinger, then signed in on another system as dustfinger. |

I am trying to run this on a raspberypi 3. It is running really badly. Any tips to get this running smoothly on a pi3? |
05:59 |

the client or the server? |
06:00 |
sfan5 |
the client is known for bad perf on rpi's if you run it in OpenGL mode, there's no easy way aroun |
06:00 |
sfan5 |
server should be fine even on an rpi |
06:01 |
dustfinger |
It is the client. Shoot. So there is no way for me to get it to perform decently :-( You said if I run in OpenGL mode. So will it perform better if I do not run in opengl mode? |
06:01 |
nalkri |
My Pi3 happily runs a server with a handful of users, I couldn't get it to work usably for the client though |
06:02 |
dustfinger |
Yah, I have the server urnning on a different machine. I really wanted this to work as a client as it is my sons computer. |
06:04 |

I think you're going to be doomed to crummy framerate at least |

something that just occured to me while examining the (limited) GPU power on an old asus eee pc... has anyone tried to get minetest (irrlicht in particular, I guess) to run using GLES 2.0 on a desktop linux system? |

seeing as mesa on linux provides openGLES as well. I'm curious to see if it would make any different (probably not, this thing is underpowered to begin with, but hey) |

cimbakahn, it would help if you listed some of the mods you want. Not all servers have the same set. |
16:30 |
LazyJ |
VanessaE's servers are a safe bet. |
16:31 |
LazyJ |
Xanadu, if the server allows new accounts (sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't). |
16:32 |
cimbakahn |
My favorite mods that i can't live without are mesecons, pipeworks, technic, awards, economy, harmless mobs. |
16:32 |
LazyJ |
The TPS servers have been around for a long time. |
16:33 |
LazyJ |
Craig's Server is another long-term server. |
16:33 |
cimbakahn |
I also do like home decor, and xdecor. |
16:33 |
LazyJ |
King Arthur's Land is too but their registration system gets fubared from time to time. |
16:34 |
LazyJ |
Red Cat Creative is likely to be a long-term server. Has mesecons but not Techinic, no mobs as of yet. |
16:34 |
LazyJ |
Sounds like VanessaE's servers may have more of what you are looking for. |
16:36 |
LazyJ |
Check the servers.minetest.net list for server age and the mods that they run. |
16:36 |
greeter |
i don't know if any of VanessaE's servers has mobs, but they have the others for sure |
16:37 |
LazyJ |
Ihrfussel's server has hostile and passive mobs... not sure about the Mesecons and Technic. |
16:38 |
cimbakahn |
I used to play on Vanessa's creative server. My building still stands there. I thought she didn't have technic? |
16:38 |

I think Ihrfussel also tries to keep his server tuned for Minetest apps. |
16:38 |

greeter |

16:47 |

I know. And sometimes information is hard to find. My current problem is an industrial dairy / chicken ranch. |
16:48 |
greeter |
got no interest on building one of those in minetest personally. just moved from a place that had those lol |
16:49 |
cimbakahn |
I purchased a industrial dairy / chicken ranch on a server, but it is broken. Need to find a way to fix it. |
16:49 |

Ultimately, the only long-term world with all the mods you want will either be your own singleplayer world or your own server. |

personally, i recommend the own server solution if you can afford it. get a solid VDS and you can run several minetest servers simultaneously |

Well, i do have my own server. It is very vanilla. Can't afford to put mods on it yet. |
16:51 |

well vanilla minetest these days is better now than when i started playing it, somewhere around 2014 |

16:54 |
