Hello - trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong, set_animation in my build does not seem to be working [[ attempt to call global 'set_animation' (a nil value) ]] https://pastebin.com/G5j8qxjX ; client build at same commit on my laptop works fine ... |

DuCake, could you replace that line with "self.object:set_animation("punch")"? |
11:43 |
DuCake |
hmm on closer inspection that might be absolutely correct. *facepalm* |
11:46 |
DuCake |
not sure where you've seen that line ? but I think I might have an inkling to what's going on in this specfic instance. reason I thought to ask here was because of two different behaviours in my different builds but ah. probably i need to make a mod change+push |
11:51 |
DuCake |
found it. mobs_redo used to export set_animation as a global, this has been fixed, but nssm has not followed suit. solved, I'll push nssm changes |

20:17 |
AlexYst |
Hey ThomasMonroe! |
20:17 |
AlexYst |
Pretty well, though I ran into a bug recently. |
20:17 |
AlexYst |
Not sure how to fix it just yet. |
20:17 |
ThomasMonroe |
oh? |
20:18 |
AlexYst |
I thought I knew, but now that I had the time to look at the problem, it's more complex than I realised. |
20:18 |
AlexYst |
Yeah, my main mod counts minerals harvested by a player. |
20:18 |
AlexYst |
However, it sometimes, but not always, counts immature farm plants that have been harvested. |
20:18 |
ThomasMonroe |
oh realy? im gonna try to do something like that |
20:19 |
|
seamoon joined #minetest |
20:19 |
ThomasMonroe |
hmm |
20:19 |
AlexYst |
If the immature farm plant drops exactly one item, and that item is the crop, not the seed, it gets counted. |
20:19 |
ThomasMonroe |
interesting |
20:20 |
AlexYst |
The obvious answer it to check to see if max_drops == 1. If not, then the node shouldn't get counted. |
20:20 |
AlexYst |
However, the actual structure of the drop tables is more complex than that. |
20:20 |
ThomasMonroe |
ofc |
20:20 |
ThomasMonroe |
hmm |
20:21 |
AlexYst |
I might need to iterate over each possible drop when max_drops == 1. Either that, or ignore the issue for strangely-defined nodes. Ignoring the problem seems like a bad idea though. |
20:21 |
ThomasMonroe |
that does complicate things a bit |
20:22 |
ThomasMonroe |
yeah |
20:22 |
ThomasMonroe |

20:23 |
* AlexYst |
looks it up |
20:23 |
ThomasMonroe |
lol |
20:23 |
ThomasMonroe |
each player on there gains exp by killing monsters, and by filling a certain amount of XP they level up |
20:23 |
ThomasMonroe |
there are 99 levels |
20:24 |
ThomasMonroe |
but each level has more and more XP you have to get |
20:24 |
ThomasMonroe |
to level up |
20:24 |
AlexYst |
Sounds like what I'm doing with mineral counts. |
20:24 |
ThomasMonroe |
ik |
20:24 |
AlexYst |
What the levels do hasn't been programmed yet though, that's a second mod I'm working on. |
20:24 |
Krock |
I have more XP than you all but I'll switch to Linux soon </pun_alert> |
20:25 |
ThomasMonroe |
but my problem is is that i want the player to not have acess to certain items until a certain level |
20:25 |

the prob i have is the acess of certain items after certain levels have been passed |
20:27 |
ThomasMonroe |
unless |
20:27 |
ThomasMonroe |
I cut out the crafting of the tools |
20:28 |
ThomasMonroe |
and give them to the user at certain levels |
20:28 |
AlexYst |
Hmm. That does sound like a difficult problem. |
20:28 |
ThomasMonroe |
i could modify the tools so that they dont get wear, or can you do that? |
20:28 |
AlexYst |
Your preferred solution is for the tools to be craftable, but not usable until a certain level, right? |
20:28 |
ThomasMonroe |
yes |
20:29 |
AlexYst |
Yeah, you can make tools that don't wear. |
20:29 |
AlexYst |
I think you set tool wear to zero in the item definition or something. |
20:29 |
ThomasMonroe |
however i think the solution that i just made is optimal |
20:29 |
AlexYst |
Oh, you mean make the tools wear only for users that use them below a certain level? |
20:29 |
ThomasMonroe |
unless you lose the tools |
20:30 |
ThomasMonroe |
no |
20:30 |
AlexYst |
Huh. I think there's a way, but not sure. |
20:30 |
AlexYst |
Oh, never mind. |
20:30 |
ThomasMonroe |
they cant craft the at all |
20:30 |
AlexYst |
Okay, got it. |
20:30 |
ThomasMonroe |
but i think if i implement some sort of store into unified they could buy the tools |
20:31 |
AlexYst |
I think I might drop support for unified_inventory, myself. It's not flexible enough. |
20:32 |
AlexYst |
I can't get subpages added. |
20:32 |
calcul0n |
you could also override the on_use handler of the tools so that they do nothing if you don't have the skills |
20:32 |
calcul0n |
maybe... |
20:32 |
AlexYst |
That works unless the tool is some sort of digging tool. |
20:33 |
calcul0n |
ho yes, probably |
20:37 |
ThomasMonroe |
its a great idea, but it may or may not work well |
20:37 |
ThomasMonroe |
wel actually going back to selling them |
20:38 |
ThomasMonroe |
i could check to see what level they are on |
20:38 |
ThomasMonroe |
and those items are available |
20:38 |

to buy |

My friend tried to open the minetest.exe and know Windows tells her that Windows Defender SmartScreen prevented the start of an unknown app |
20:52 |
Krock |
SmartScreen got renamed to DumbScreen just now |
20:57 |
AlexYst |
minetest.exe is a know virus. The computer only wants to protect your friend! |
20:58 |
AlexYst |
IhrFussel: On a more serious note, it sounds like Windows is using a poor security practice of blocking software by unknown developers. No one knows the Minetest crew, so they're not whitelisted. |
20:58 |
AlexYst |
Or maybe it's not the developers that are being blocked, but the application. No one knows about Minetest either. |
21:03 |
IhrFussel |
AlexYst, yeah well luckily there was a "more info" option that contained a "allow anyway" button |
21:03 |
AlexYst |
Oh, okay, that's good then. |
21:06 |
IhrFussel |
But WELL hidden...if you don't click "more info" you only see a "disallow" button |

I'm reluctant to throw code at this new bug I've found. I fixed the bug that actually gets triggered by the immature farm plants, but if I iterate over the drop table, I have to do that every time a mineral (or something that could be confused with a mineral) is dug. That seems like a lot of overhead. |
21:24 |
ThomasMonroe |
it wouldif it was going on all the time |
21:26 |
AlexYst |
Yeah, it counts minerals dug by players, so it's going whenever players dig. |

i'd just create a table of all known minerals and check it when anything is dug |

that would miss minerals introduced by extra mods though |

NathanS21: actually i have a question-in minetest 0.4.9 there was directory in ~/.minetest but in this minetest there is no that directory for modes |
22:10 |
dusko |
NathanS21: where is it |
22:11 |
NathanS21 |
you just need to create a directory called mods |
22:11 |
NathanS21 |
and then place the mods there. |

and doesn't use as much of the GPU as it could |

yeah it needs more resources and all for multithreading solution. |
