well, I never played MC (over a notable time) to know what redstone exactly does |
17:36 |
Tre |
me either, but i watch youtube vids to get an idea |
17:36 |
Krock |
mesecons and pipeworks were always enough for what I wanted to build |
17:37 |
Tre |
for the most part they are |
17:38 |

but when it comes to piston based contraptions they fail to make it simle |

Tre: why do you say that? |
17:48 |
nore |
when I see the redstone contraptions they look horribly complicated compared to what you can do in mesecons |
17:49 |
nore |
even if you chose to disable the luacontroller |
17:50 |
Tre |
it is really complicated to program a lua controller to carry out a set of instructoins in sequence |
17:50 |

did you see the other link , not the redstone one? |

that component would make running complex piston contraptions much simpler |

okay, but even without luacontrollers you can still do simpler than redstone contraptions |

redstone is cool, you could easily make it in minetest |
18:06 |
sofar |
but it violates many electrical principles |
18:06 |
sofar |
mesecons makes plenty of errors too |
18:06 |
Tre |
true, but redstone looks fun nevertheless |
18:06 |
sofar |
oh, it is |

except I don't think anyone has made a MT redstone equivalent |

Hello. I'm trying to get my minetest server on irc using this mod: https://github.com/minetest-mods/irc . Is anyone familiar with it, and if so, would you mind lending a hand in troubleshooting? |
22:09 |
OldCoder |
EPic_Null, quite happy to do so |
22:09 |
kaeza |
EPic_Null, sure. what problem? |
22:09 |
OldCoder |
EPic_Null, but are you using Windows or Linux on the server? |
22:09 |
EPic_Null |
Ubuntu |
22:09 |
OldCoder |
EPic_Null, kaeza is one of the authors |
22:09 |
EPic_Null |
(If it makes a difference which flavor of linux) |
22:09 |
OldCoder |
So I'll hand you over to him, but see me later if questions remain |
22:10 |
OldCoder |
Note: Remember that you'll need both irc and irc_commands |
22:10 |
OldCoder |
kaeza, if he has trouble building it, I'll just post my version |
22:10 |
kaeza |
EPic_Null, how did you instll it? |
22:11 |
kaeza |
OldCoder, uh, irc mod does not need "building" since ages ago |
22:11 |
EPic_Null |
Well, it's not showing up in my chanel #emptychanel yet (Yes, it's spelled wrong.) |
22:11 |
EPic_Null |
Well, first I did the --recursive git clone suggested |
22:11 |
kaeza |
okay, so you have e.g. mods/irc/irc/init.lua ? |
22:11 |
EPic_Null |
Then I did the install of the luarocks and luasocket suggested |
22:12 |
EPic_Null |
um... let me look |
22:12 |
OldCoder |
kaeza, it did just a year ago IIRC |
22:12 |
OldCoder |
And it still does, apparently |
22:12 |
OldCoder |
I'm referring to the lua* stuff |
22:12 |
kaeza |
OldCoder, just the luasocket part, which may be installed via luarocks |
22:13 |
OldCoder |
If you have and understand that. I've merged it into the mod. But continue with him. |
22:13 |
EPic_Null |
I have a ~/minetest/mods/irc/init.lua and the ~/minetest/mods/irc/irc/init.lua |
22:13 |
EPic_Null |
erm... small thing, can you please stop using "him" for me? I'd appreciate "them" but am okay with "her". |
22:14 |
kaeza |

22:14 |

0.0% Fissile Uranium |
23:05 |

VanessaE: What do you mean by run them too hard? |
23:05 |
VanessaE |
(it's a safety-catch in case of too many items in a tube because they're not being discarded or stored) |
23:06 |
VanessaE |
GreenDimond: like if you inject hundreds of items into a short run of tubes (or just too fast) |
23:06 |

ah. |
23:06 |

I should be fine then... |

machines breaking down from time to time might be useful, but the question then is what would be considered "reasonable"/. |
23:07 |

I am getting 2,280,040 power rn from a hydrofarm xD |
23:08 |

impressive... and I thought the ~450 kEU the one on VE-Survival produces was a fair bit. |

VanessaE |
heh |
23:11 |

lesse.... a wind turbine could just blow the blades off of the generator and leave a smoking mass where the generator block was :) |

23:13 |
GreenDimond |

It recieves ores from the quarry, grinds grindable ores (except coal), smelts them, and makes them into blocks, then sends them to the storage system. There is a buffer for items that cant get in (which rarely happens) so they just bounce around. |
