hmm, i just built a switch to turn everything off/on, and not only does it do that but it opens and closes the door to my house |
00:28 |
kaadmy |
doors also are triggered by mesecons and will toggle the door |
00:28 |
greeter |
cool |
00:28 |
kaadmy |
putting a switch touching a door will trigger it when pushed |
00:29 |
greeter |
so if i don't want this behavior, i should either move the circuit or move the door |
00:29 |
kaadmy |
not sure exactly how it acts tho |
00:29 |
kaadmy |
^ yep |
00:29 |
kaadmy |
is either possible? |
00:29 |
kaadmy |
i think levers might work |
00:29 |
greeter |
probably. i'm not too concerned about it at the moment though |
00:30 |
kaadmy |
iirc levers and buttons will only transmit to the node behind the node it's attached to |
00:31 |
greeter |
ok. so buttons are a better way to go if i'm gonna have circuits running by doors that i want to be able to toggle on/off? |
00:31 |
kaadmy |
i think |
00:32 |
kaadmy |
levers might (should?) also work |
00:32 |
greeter |
nice |
00:32 |
greeter |
ironically i'm doing this instead of the electrical work i had planned to do today |
00:35 |
greeter |
hmm, it seemed that part of the circuit was redundant anyway |

hello, I have an issue with the "check_player_privs" function. If I do "minetest.check_player_privs(name, {my_priv = true})" or "minetest.check_player_privs(name, {my_priv = false})" or "minetest.check_player_privs(name, {my_priv})", the result is the same: "true" if the player has "my_priv" as privilege, "false" if it has not "my_priv" as privilege. So, the boolean specified has no impact on the result of this function. |
16:46 |
YuGiOhJCJ |
I don't thing it is the expected behavior for this function |
16:46 |
sfan5 |
yes it is |
16:46 |
YuGiOhJCJ |
*think |
16:47 |
YuGiOhJCJ |
expected or not? |
16:47 |
sfan5 |
yes |
16:47 |
sfan5 |
the boolean has no impact and that's how it should be |
16:49 |
YuGiOhJCJ |
ok, so is it completely useless to specify "= false" or "= true"? |
16:49 |
sfan5 |
yes |
16:49 |
YuGiOhJCJ |
ahah ok |
16:50 |
Krock |
well, if you write it like this: privs = { my_priv }, you'll call a nil value variable |
16:50 |
Krock |
nil = nil = not detected |
16:51 |
Krock |
local privs = { dummy }; return dump(privs) --> { } |
16:53 |
YuGiOhJCJ |
maybe examples on http://dev.minetest.net/minetest.check_player_privs should avoid using this boolean as it is a useless information |
16:53 |
Krock |
but it's easier with a key-value table than with a regular arras |

oh yeah indeed if I specify {my_priv = true} or {my_priv}, the result is not the same. It works only in the first case. So, examples on http://dev.minetest.net/minetest.check_player_privs are good. |

any legitimate use of a ladder actually involves the player coming close anyway, so just keep ladders in a state where players fall through by default, then turn it to the "normal" state if they're not trying to land from a cliff |

19:01 |
Samson1 |
Oh, |
19:02 |

Samson1, The forum post says it runs 0.2.13. Well, my brother says he have 0.4.12, may that be the cause? |

Would you like me to explain? |
19:05 |
Samson1 |
It won't take long |
19:09 |
Samson1 |
numzero, In MC there are different versions, the recommended versions start at 1.0 all the way up to the current version witch is 1.8.9, when you start Minecraft it will open a launcher that displays MC news and the different versions |

that was the original plan. i was going to light it up with electricity instead of torches. but this was pain staking, and i can't think of any easy way to get electricity into the building without it looking weird somewhere (as a real life electrician that drives me nuts lol) |

Greeter: Idea: The joins between rooms act as a sort of framework. You can run electrical wiring through these. Make ceilings lower and floors higher, so you can run electrical wiring to the correct ceiling places. |
20:26 |

The only trouble is, running mesecons everywhere is kind of useless, as it just means you can turn the lights off from one poit. |

nothing like having 12 furnaces all smelting away at the same time |
21:57 |
sofar |
and with node timers they should be done on time better :) |
21:57 |
greeter |
hmm, i hadn't thought of that |
21:58 |
sofar |
I have the idea of making crops grow with node timers as well |
21:58 |
sofar |
there's just one problem with that |
21:58 |
greeter |
i might want to look into it for sure. the construction of this castle is turning into an industrial sized project very fast |
21:58 |
greeter |
what's that? |
21:58 |
sofar |
it's impossible to convert existing crop nodes into ones with active node timers right now |
21:59 |
sofar |
I'd have to use est31's LBM code to do so, I think |
21:59 |
greeter |
hmm |
21:59 |
sofar |
I should check if that code is finished already :) |
21:59 |
greeter |
that's all a bit above my head i'm afraid |
21:59 |
sofar |
node timers for crops are great |
22:00 |
sofar |
since now all crops grow only once every 9 seconds |
22:00 |
sofar |
which means it's possible all of them grow at exactly that moment |
22:00 |
sofar |
or none grow |
22:00 |
sofar |
some nodes could grow never |
22:00 |
sofar |
some could grow to mature in 8x9 seconds |
22:01 |
sofar |
with node timers, we can control the growth spread much better |
22:01 |
sofar |
you could prevent wheat from growing to full in 70 seconds, or never |
22:01 |
sofar |
of course, light, and wet soil still influence growth |
22:01 |
greeter |
i see |
