01:06 turd ok i'm back for the 3rd time, I need help. Client crashes because of a mod on my 32bit ubuntu server
01:06 thefamilygrog66 which mod, turd?
01:06 turd http://pastebin.com/8V58epdC
01:07 turd unified_inventory
01:07 turd I'm a noob, not sure what i did wrong or what version the server is running
01:08 turd it's 32 bit ubuntu on a VM, updated
01:09 turd I've installed 3 other mods, they work, so I'm doing something right. Just this one I really want. and skins after I get this figured out
01:10 sofar turd: are clients and server running the same minetest version?
01:10 turd the client is 4.13 linux, Im not sure what the server is.
01:11 turd but both are apt-get install minetest and minetestserver from ubuntu trusty i think
01:12 sofar 04:25:52: INFO[ServerThread]: Server::ProcessData(): Cancelling: Peer serialization format invalid or not initialized. Skipping incoming command=0
01:12 sofar looks like client or server is too old
01:13 turd maybe ubuntu server 32 bit is outdated?
01:13 sofar very likely
01:13 MinetestBot [git] RobertZenz -> minetest/minetest: Clarified what get_node does. 386d190 http://git.io/vuHuV (2016-01-09T01:07:03Z)
01:13 MinetestBot [git] slemonide -> minetest/minetest: Update lua_api.txt 95c1b66 http://git.io/vuHuw (2016-01-09T01:06:45Z)
01:14 turd sofar client is 4.13, thats latest right? How can i tell the server ver?
01:14 sofar I dunno, some apt command on the server?
01:15 turd oh i guess i can apt-get again, should say while install
01:15 sofar apt-show-versions <package>
01:17 turd ok it said minetest-server 0.4.9+repack-4ubuntu1
01:17 sofar upgrade that ancient crap ;)
01:18 turd ahhh thanks
01:19 turd what repository should i use? I think ill have to edit my list and add a new one, I did apt-get update before install.
01:19 Emperor_Genshin Good evening fellas :)
01:19 sofar not a debian person, sorry
01:19 turd Or if there's a place i can get the lastest and manually install that should work to
01:20 turd ok thanks though, I try to figure out getting the ltest version
01:31 Fritigern Too bads turd keep popping on and off, i would have suggested he's add the getdeb repos. MT in their repos are 0.4.13
01:31 Fritigern Either that, or build it himself, I have a script that he could use
01:32 lezzy joined #minetest
01:35 kaadmy yeah
01:35 Fritigern If anyone is insterested, this script clones the GIT repos, then builds Minetest. You can optionally have it start MT after compilation. http://pastebin.com/D0d6hJU2
01:38 jin_xi joined #minetest
01:38 kaadmy Fritigern: nice script
01:39 Fritigern kaadmy: Thank you! It was inspirred by my laziness ;-)
01:39 kaadmy heh
01:40 kaadmy from laziness comes great things :p
01:41 Fritigern The version on pastebin has been slightly modified to make it useable to others as well. After all, i already have the repos set up, and at the end i copy the new versions over to another mintest folder from where I run it, but that's really it ;-)
01:41 kaadmy that script wouldn't work for me anyway
01:41 Fritigern How come?
01:41 kaadmy i have a custom script to get the libs working
01:42 kaadmy i have most of the libs downloaded/compiled outside the root directories
01:43 Fritigern Well, my script is (nowadays) aimed at the noobs that have never built a thing in Linux before. Looks to me like you are way beyond the target audience of the script anyway ;-)
01:43 kaadmy and your script might have strange side effects if your computer's got 1 core ;)
01:43 kaadmy yea
01:43 lambda-11235 joined #minetest
01:44 Fritigern Nope, I tested it. Lines 56, 57, and 58 solve that potential problem :-)
01:44 Fritigern (plopping it on a single line) if [[ $cores == 0 ]]; then  let cores=1  fi
01:45 kaadmy ah, didn't see that
01:46 kaadmy imo a large portion of mt's audience likely doesn't know what compiling code is ;)
01:47 Fritigern That comment made me think that it may be best to add a "don't edit below this line" type of thing

01:49 lezzy has anyone tried thet game? within um.... TODAY?
01:50 Fritigern *clicks and looks*
01:51 Fritigern I had never heard of that game
01:52 lezzy what? its my epis work
01:55 lezzy Fritigern: you should try it and let me know. im looking for feedback and ideas
01:55 Fritigern I'll give it a whirl, but I am not RPG fan in general
01:57 kaadmy ^ same
01:57 kaadmy tho i'll try it when i can
01:58 lezzy well the code is really unique, its almost a complete rewrite on the game lol
01:58 lezzy and this girl appriciates you trying the game :D
01:59 kaadmy the game-- australopithecis or something is basically a complete api rewrite
02:00 lezzy as mine is going to be as well when i get done :P
02:02 Fritigern I've hit a tree with diamond pick, destoryed the tree, and I now have a bunch of unknown nodes in my inventory. Though let me change my texture pack because sounding the alarm
02:03 Fritigern Ah, well, that didn;t help
02:04 Fritigern lezzy: Crash when i hit a wartus with the hammer
02:05 lezzy really?
02:05 lezzy the unknown i know but the crash???
02:05 Fritigern http://pastebin.com/rGc74FE2
02:06 lezzy you had the regular battle axe?
02:06 lezzy thats my lazy self only recoding one weapon opps lol
02:08 Fritigern I atttacked him with the war hammer. I just now tried atacking it with the diamond axe but that seems to do no damage (yet?). Same result with the basic, as in no damage done
02:09 Fritigern Oh, the basic battle axe seems to have done a little damage just now, but it resulted in a crash again
02:10 Fritigern Pasebinning that too, hold on
02:11 Fritigern lezzy: Here you go: http://pastebin.com/kVa6HJnB
02:12 lezzy the regular axes only chop trees rn, still working on that code but i just pushed the fix for the battle axe and hammer, i coded the shadow axe and never updated the other two :#
02:12 lezzy :3
02:13 Fritigern I was using battle axes
02:13 Fritigern Oh, never mind. I just read the rest
02:14 Fritigern lezzy: Is the shadow axe supposed to do zero damage to wartuses?
02:14 stormchaser3000 joined #minetest
02:15 lezzy it only works if you are a lvl 60, do cme /demo to max your stats
02:15 lezzy cmd /demo*
02:15 thefamilygrog66 hey sofar, I got my mod working. thanks again for your suggestions
02:15 Fritigern Oh, I see!
02:16 thefamilygrog66 I was also able to cut out a couple dozen lines of code that were no longer required when I approached it that way
02:16 lezzy as is a 180 damage weapon its not for noobs lol
02:16 lezzy what mod thefamilygrog66 ?
02:17 thefamilygrog66 This one - I just updated it, but haven't uploaded the updates: https://forum.minetest.net/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=13719
02:17 lezzy thefamilygrog66: nice, have you seen my game? https://forum.minetest.net/viewtopic.php?f=50&t=13758

02:19 Fritigern thefamilygrog66: That's a great idea! Friti like!
02:21 thefamilygrog66 lezzy: very cool, and ambitious! I dig the meshnodes. I run a survival horror server, called The Darkside, which also has some unusual mods that aren't seen anywhere else, as far as I know.
02:21 thefamilygrog66 Thanks, Fritigern
02:22 lezzy thefamilygrog66: hmmm ill have to come take a look at the server when i can
02:22 Hyrden hi
02:23 thefamilygrog66 I've just changed the treasure chest mod so that players can examine the contents more than once (i.e. the contents for each player are persistent, for games typically).
02:24 thefamilygrog66 lezzy: My Darkside server has a lot of custom sounds (e.g. player greetings, air raid sirens at midnight/dawn), textures that change at midnight (and back again at dawn), lots of blood for both mobs and players, and so on.
02:25 lezzy sounds nice
02:26 lezzy im gonna add talking to the mobs, well simple talking lol
02:26 thefamilygrog66 random phrases?
02:27 thefamilygrog66 I had my son record a bunch of elf-like phrases, sped them up using audacity, and then added little elf mobs around xmas time.
02:27 Fritigern What I would like to see in MT mobs is a visual response to being hit. Like bounce back + flash red or so. Most mobs mods don;t have that
02:28 thefamilygrog66 Fritigern: you should definitely check out the darkside then. much blood, hacking sounds, and screams during mob battles.
02:29 lezzy mobs redo is what i use, it has bounce-back and i added the nametag color red flash on hit, i could add a whole texture red flash but its not my style lol

02:34 thefamilygrog66 Nice. I really have to learn blender (aside from exporting existing models).
02:34 * Fritigern wishes he understood blender well enough to actually do some modeling
02:34 thefamilygrog66 The mobs mod I use is this one, though I've tweaked it quite a bit to make it noisier and bloodier: https://github.com/tenplus1/mobs
02:34 thefamilygrog66 Fritigern, exactly.
02:35 Fritigern thefamilygrog66: You are using mobs_redo as well

02:36 lezzy2 mine has been, well modified a ton
02:36 thefamilygrog66 I've added a bunch of mobs to it, mainly based on the player mesh, but skinned with different characters.
02:37 thefamilygrog66 Yes, likewise
02:38 Fritigern How about the two of you team up and creade a mobs_redo_redo?
02:38 thefamilygrog66 one thing I added to it was to have the player bleed when a mob hits them.
02:38 thefamilygrog66 Haha, redoredo

02:39 thefamilygrog66 I gotta run, but feel free to stop by my server anytime (darkside.zapto.org:30003)

05:30 Skyduskguy want to place a node with an entity, need a way to get that entity's pos
05:30 everamzah getpos() ?
05:31 Skyduskguy why are you following me around saying the same thing
05:31 everamzah i was here first
05:31 Skyduskguy minetest.place_node(getpos{"thing to place"}) crashes
05:31 everamzah oh i'm a novice but let me think
05:32 Skyduskguy says getpos is a nil value
05:32 everamzah place_node(pos, node)
05:32 everamzah you're missing an argument
05:32 Skyduskguy im not
05:32 everamzah oh
05:32 Skyduskguy I have a working condition to start
05:32 everamzah wel never mind then. oh ok
05:33 everamzah i was just looking at lua_api.txt
05:33 everamzah * `minetest.place_node(pos, node)`
05:33 Skyduskguy yeah i nkow
05:33 Skyduskguy now how do i place that at the position of the entity
05:33 Skyduskguy id need to call the entitys pos
05:33 everamzah i'm sure you'll get it, maybe look at other mods. there will be someone here sooner or later, u can idle and wait and they will prolly help you
05:34 everamzah also the "modding questions" forum thread is helpful
05:34 Skyduskguy so
05:34 Skyduskguy ffs
05:35 sofar https://github.com/minetest/minetest/blob/master/doc/lua_api.txt#L2508
05:35 sofar mobs are ObjectRefs
05:35 sofar so getpos() is a valid method for that object
05:36 sofar it returns a {x = , y =, z = } pos
05:38 Skyduskguy so using minetes.place_node({""})
05:39 Skyduskguy placing getpos() errors
05:39 sofar minetest.place_node(pos, {name = "node:name" })
05:39 Skyduskguy I know placenode i dont know howto place node with pos of getpos
05:39 sofar I suggest perhaps looking at other mods that do similar things
05:40 Skyduskguy do you know of any?
05:40 sofar so you can read some working code by others
05:40 sofar and see how generally minetest mods work
05:40 everamzah sapier's animals_modpack has a miner
05:40 everamzah it digs stuff for you
05:40 Skyduskguy I dont know of any mods that have mobs placeing nodes
05:40 Skyduskguy ill look
05:41 everamzah here's an interesting one: https://github.com/pilcrow182/hoverbot
05:41 sofar maybe a mod that has something that digs will have very similar methods
05:41 sofar they both interact with nodes
05:41 everamzah freelikegnu's goblins place torches
05:41 everamzah that'd be the one to look at, i think
05:42 Thomas-S joined #minetest
05:42 Thomas-S hi
05:42 everamzah hi
05:43 Skyduskguy they actually replace torches with air
05:44 everamzah oh that's true, i got it backwards
05:48 sofar who made the tutorial map again?
05:48 everamzah wuzzy
05:50 Skyduskguy attempt to call global getpos a nil value
05:51 everamzah is your syntax correct? you could paste the code online somewhere for lookin' at
05:51 sofar you have to do foo_object.getpos()
05:52 Skyduskguy ?
05:52 sofar you can't just call "getpos()" ... it doesn't exist in the global namespace
05:52 sofar it's a method
05:52 sofar a method is a function that is specific to an object
05:52 sofar cookie_jar.give_me_a_cookie() works
05:52 Skyduskguy so the name of the mob?
05:52 sofar give_me_a_cookie() doesn't work
05:53 sofar no, getpos() has no parameters
05:53 everamzah *mind blown*
05:53 Skyduskguy so how do i get pos of mobx
05:53 everamzah mob.getpos() ?
05:53 sofar Skyduskguy: you started learning 10 minutes ago. Do not expect to learn this fast unless you have significant other programming experience
05:53 sofar yes, mob.getpos() sounds a lot better
05:54 everamzah so i played with LVM for the first time today. my head still hurts..
05:54 sofar I've been doing computers for 30 years and LVM still makes my head spin
05:54 everamzah :D :D
05:55 sofar some things are not worth learning
05:55 sofar minetest mods, are, however, A TON of fun to learn
05:55 sofar so don't give up
05:55 everamzah lots and lots of fun. especially when you get to "play test"... and it's pretty rapid, too.
05:55 Skyduskguy im working through chicken with creatures
05:56 sofar here
05:56 sofar follow me
05:56 Skyduskguy im going to make a mob to do this stuff but im just trying to tie it into the chicken laying an egg
05:56 everamzah what are you gonna make it place?
05:56 sofar you want to know how to learn the "getpos" function?
05:56 sofar do this
05:56 Skyduskguy a node
05:56 sofar go to github.com/FreeLikeGNU/mobs_goblin
05:56 sofar and in the search box
05:56 sofar type "getpos"
05:56 sofar https://github.com/FreeLikeGNU/mobs_goblins/search?utf8=%E2%9C%93&q=getpos
05:56 sofar tadaa, here's 2 places where that mod uses getpos()!
05:57 sofar now open the api.lua version
05:57 sofar scroll down to line 223
05:57 sofar notice you are in the on_step = function() part?
05:57 sofar this is a function that executes 20x per second
05:57 sofar on the server
05:57 sofar it has parameters "self" and "dtime"
05:57 fireglow joined #minetest
05:57 sofar "self" is the mob
05:58 sofar it has a member called "object"
05:58 sofar this is the ObjectRef we talked about earlier
05:58 sofar self.object:getpos() gives the mobs' pos
05:58 sofar all right there in the code
05:58 sofar note the difference between "." and ":"
05:59 sofar that's very crucial
05:59 sofar one denotes a member
05:59 sofar the other denotes a "ref"
05:59 Skyduskguy in chicken
05:59 Skyduskguy line 121
05:59 Skyduskguy on_step = function(self, dtime)
05:59 Skyduskguy if self.mode == "lay_egg" then

06:00 sofar but yes that chicken part looks yummy too
06:00 Skyduskguy anyway there is where
06:01 Skyduskguy that errors with attempt to call a table value
06:01 everamzah syntax is wrong, i dunno about : and . but, it's {name = "mossy:moss"} anyway
06:02 sofar yep, it misses the "name =" part
06:02 Skyduskguy that part works though
06:02 Skyduskguy if i set the pos to 0 0 0 the node is placed at 0 0 0
06:03 sofar sure
06:03 everamzah minetest.place_node(self.object:getpos(), {name = "mossy:moss"}) ?
06:03 sofar but place_node expects parameter #2 to be a node... { name = "some:thing" }
06:04 sofar {"some:thing"} is not a valid node
06:04 sofar that has no "name" member
06:04 Skyduskguy is that affecting the pos part?
06:04 sofar no
06:04 Skyduskguy well why change it
06:04 bjrohan joined #minetest
06:05 sofar why change paramter #2?

08:32 paolosca Hi, anyone knows how to destroy a stuck mesecons piston? The piston is stuck in the open position, I can destroy the piston block, but the piston itself (the thing theat pops out when activated) is still there and I can't destroy it.
08:34 everamzah paolosca: i'm not familiar with mesecons but if it's your server try calinou's maptools mod -- it features an admin pickaxe that can break anything.
08:34 Thomas-S maybe WorldEdit can help
08:35 everamzah oh that's right.
08:35 paolosca Thank you, everamzah, unfortunately it's not my server. Maybe I should contact the admin.

08:36 everamzah you're welcome, good luck. i'm sure the admin can help, but if it's a thing to do with mesecons, lots of people here use it i think
08:36 everamzah so maybe some1 else will have an idea
08:39 paolosca Thomas-S, I'm not sure if there is WorldEdit or if I'm authorized to use it on the server, do you know where can I find a list of commands to try?
08:40 Thomas-S you can see if WorlEdit is installed with "/mods"
08:40 Thomas-S and you can see your privs with "/privs"
08:40 everamzah doing /help should show what commands are available to you. if //set and a bunch of other //commands are not there, then either it's not installed or you lack the priv
08:43 paolosca Ok, thanks, worldedit is available but I don't have the privileges, I will try to contact the admin. Thank you.
08:43 Thomas-S you're welcome

11:17 red-001 whats the difference between meshnodes and nodebox?
11:22 Calinou red-001, a meshnode is a regular mesh as you'd use it in most 3D games. It can use slopes, curves… we accept those formats for meshnodes: .x, .b3d, .obj, .md2
11:22 Calinou a nodebox is a text definition that allows only cuboids. Those are converted by meshnodes in the engine, so technically they render the same way.

12:15 everamzah lua_api.txt has a Meshes section, but it's limited. otherwise, i think just the regular node def stuff?
12:15 everamzah unless you mean like, how to make an .obj. i fired up blender to answer this question, then i quit blender and decided i didn't want to know
12:16 red-001 like how to make sure the size of the meshnode is right
12:16 everamzah i think visual_scale in node def will do
12:16 red-001 ok thanks

12:20 Calinou if using .x format: enable the .x exporter in the User Preferences
12:20 Calinou if using .obj format: you don't need to do anything, it's already enabled
12:20 Calinou if using .b3d format: download a .b3d exporter from the Web
12:20 Calinou .md2 format is not recommended, but you can also find exporters around
12:21 Calinou .obj does not support animation, .b3d and .x do (skeletal), .md2 is 8-bit vertex animation (very inaccurate)
12:21 Ingar everamzah: there's an obj exporter for blender
12:21 RealBadAngel when exporting obj dont forget to check some options in export menu

16:54 EvergreenTree Okay, thank you. Why was it removed from the mapgen select dialog though?
16:54 Krock you can change the mapgen to singlenode using the lua API
16:55 Krock I think because the people wanted to play in there and didn't know why there's no terrian
16:58 rubenwardy I used singlenode as a player so that I could worldedit and make a flat base for a circuit board
17:00 EvergreenTree rubenwardy, that's usually what I use it for too
17:01 EvergreenTree Although it is impossible to set nodes without worldedit though (not including the lua api), so it is kind of useless by default

20:05 rubenwardy_ "strange lag" ?
20:05 red-001 sometimes one of the nodes changes position a few seconds before the other
20:06 red-001 when you open the door
20:07 rubenwardy_ ah
20:07 rubenwardy_ good idea to make it one node, then

21:47 red-001 yes
21:47 red-001 I agree
21:47 sofar when I have it textured I'll put it somewhere you can get it
21:47 red-001 thanks
21:48 red-001 btw what modeling tool would you recommend for making models for minetest?
21:48 sofar blender
21:50 red-001 you should make sure players can't hit whats on the other side of the door
21:50 sofar small steps, first lets get it to show in-game as a node properly
21:50 red-001 thats a problem I had with nodebox doors

21:54 DI3HARD139 How can I heavily increase the LUA memory limit. Sick of the server crashing while saving MASSIVE builds

22:00 Megaf DI3HARD139: here server crashes because it actually used all ram and the kernel then kill minetestserver
22:01 DI3HARD139 I used to do that but for somereason it keeps hitting the lua limit first. I used to be able to drive the server until the swap was full but not anymore sadly
22:02 DI3HARD139 Im trying to save builds that have over 140m nodes in the selected range
22:02 red-001 iirc it's a luaJIT problem`
22:04 DI3HARD139 Sadly the way its currently coded prevents it from using more than 1GB.
22:05 DI3HARD139 guess Ill stick to smaller builds for now
22:05 red-001 god snow sound are horribly and ear deafing
22:06 DI3HARD139 btw Im attempting to save some of the builds in the NYC v2.1 map. incase anyone was wondering
22:10 H-H-H arghhhhh my heads gona burst lol trying to follow a tutorial on making meshes in blender and then getting them into minetest
22:10 red-001 there is a tutorial????!!

22:11 red-001 can you giveme a link!

22:12 red-001 a lot better then guess!
22:12 H-H-H n/p ive got me mesh in minetest but trying to figure out uvunwrapping and such is making my head hurt

22:12 sofar close :D
22:12 sofar unwrapping went well, just need to rotate the UV maps
22:12 red-001 lol
22:12 H-H-H or walk on your hands lol
22:13 red-001 like everyone
22:13 red-001 can you hit through the door?
22:14 H-H-H after i figure out these meshes and stuff i will attempt to figure out animations for the meshes
22:14 sofar red-001: slow down cowboy
22:14 red-001 ok ok
22:15 red-001 It wouldn't be the worst thing ever if that was the result of moving to mesh
22:16 H-H-H by the way just for the record i saw a subgame the other day that has actual openng chests
22:16 Fritigern sofar: I see you are working on doors. I have just noticed something odd. Open door, attempt to close door with torch (3d_torch) in hand, door does not close, but torch will replace a (sandstone) node on the non-hinged side of the door post. I don;t know if it's becuase of the door, the 3d_torch mod, both, or something else.
22:17 red-001 ok thank cool
22:17 red-001 thats
22:17 red-001 H-H-H whats the sungame?
22:18 H-H-H majichet or something like
22:19 red-001 It *might* be a bit hard to convince some people that animation is need
22:19 sofar hmm, my model is rotated, not my texture...
22:19 H-H-H https://forum.minetest.net/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=10507
22:20 red-001 It looks like it will kill my pc.
22:22 H-H-H it is pretty heavy and the textures are hi res
22:22 red-001 textures are ok for my
22:23 red-001 there is no download?
22:23 Fritigern For anyone who would like to see the phenomenon which I struggled to describe: http://imgur.com/1XUSK8C
22:24 red-001 it's the fault of the torch mod
22:24 red-001 and minetest
22:24 kaadmy let me guess: the 3d torch mod handles placing custom?
22:24 Fritigern And because it's saturday ;-)
22:24 Fritigern I have no idea. I didn;t write the mod and I can;t read lua
22:25 red-001 I can write lua
22:25 red-001 but this is cause by minetest iirc
22:26 Fritigern I'll test with the default torches and with different nodes (if default torch does the same)
22:26 red-001 so fault of minetest
22:27 red-001 the door causes the torch to think there is a node there
22:27 H-H-H red-001 https://github.com/4aiman/Magichet-stable
22:27 red-001 thanks
22:28 Fritigern Definitely the 3d_torch mod's fault
22:28 red-001 why?
22:28 Fritigern With default torch in han, I can open and close the door without a problem.
22:29 Fritigern regardless of the surrounding nodes
22:29 red-001 wait discribe your problem
22:29 Fritigern Scroll back a little, and you will see. I did describe it
22:30 H-H-H correction red-001 https://github.com/napodan/magichet
22:30 Fritigern But to humor you, i said : I have just noticed something odd. Open door, attempt to close door with torch (3d_torch) in hand, door does not close, but torch will replace a (sandstone) node on the non-hinged side of the door post. I don;t know if it's becuase of the door, the 3d_torch mod, both, or something else.
22:31 red-001 ohh sorry I though you meant the way the toch was placed strangly
22:31 Fritigern I did not mention before that I had also noticed that the 3d_torch can be placed on a closed door.
22:32 red-001 yeah the fault of the mod
22:32 EvergreenTree Is it best practice to print a line at the end of init.lua that says the mod has loaded? (such as https://github.com/4Evergreen4/ban_hammer/blob/master/init.lua#L99)
22:33 Fritigern I love 3d_torch, it looks great and can be place any which way. It's just that it can also be used for griefing and it kinda feels incomplete.
22:33 Fritigern EvergreenTree: Personally, I find it reassuringto see such a message
22:34 red-001 I find it spam
22:35 Fritigern So opinions differ on this. I'd say go with what you like best. If in doubt, add an option to turn such a message on or off in the config
22:35 red-001 It would be nice if there was some sort of setting to tell mods whatever t enable it or not.
22:36 Fritigern MAny mods have a setting to have their blocks show in creative inventory or not. So why not have a "confirm_on_loaded" setting? I think that could be a way to keep everyone happy
22:37 EvergreenTree That seems like something that might be better implemented in minetest core
22:37 red-001 yes and no
22:37 EvergreenTree Then add a field to mod.conf that lets the mod specify its version number
22:37 Fritigern EvergreenTree: I'm sure. But until that time, perhaps modders should add iit to their own mods
22:37 EvergreenTree Then mods don't have to add boilerplate code just to do that
22:37 sofar http://i.imgur.com/WU58HYF.png
22:37 EvergreenTree As of now, it probably is a good idea
22:38 sofar looks like UV map and model are now properly done

22:40 * Fritigern has never figured out how to apply textures to objects in Blender
22:40 kaadmy Fritigern: -___-
22:40 paramat EvergreenTree use a mod to select singlenode, with this as init.lua:
22:41 paramat minetest.register_on_mapgen_init(function(mgparams)
22:41 paramat minetest.set_mapgen_params({mgname = "singlenode"})
22:41 paramat end)
22:42 EvergreenTree Thanks paramat
22:43 Fritigern Every tutorial for texturing in Blender that I have found was like "click this, push that, open so-and-so" etc. And here i am trying to follow the instructions (which seems to assume that you already know where each flipping button and setting is) and only getting more and more frustrated after having to seach for the button or setting for the previous 15 minutes.
22:44 paramat yes singlenode was hidden to avoid confusing newbies
22:44 EvergreenTree I don't remember if he did one on texturing, but tutor4u's videos are really good
