mesecon specialization, plumbing, smelting, I like the idea having all that separate. |
02:16 |
bas0801 |
Atm i'm checking the 9th slot for nodes. If so it drops the node that is dug |
02:17 |
bas0801 |
atm i'm working on very minimal inventory where you have only 3 slots. two for tools and one for carrying stuff. This opens doors for mods that allow logistics |
02:17 |
NakedFury |
I would also like for nodes to drop like in minecraft if there is no space for them in inventory |
02:18 |
NakedFury |
and for back packs or carrying items? |
02:18 |
bas0801 |
later i will make mod that allow "factories" crafting nodes that craft when resources are available. |

autocrafter in pipeworks does this already |

02:19 |

the character can only carry 2 tools and 99 of same node. strong enough for that |
02:19 |
bas0801 |
Tools weighing less then nodes... |
02:19 |
bas0801 |
That would require to define weight per group or node |
02:20 |
NakedFury |
I just meant that the way you want only 3 slots could work as if that was how much weight a character could carry |
02:21 |
bas0801 |
Exactly. Only 3 slots carrying capacity |
02:21 |
NakedFury |
and 2 most be tools or whatever you want? |

NotNickIsAway |

02:35 |
jojoa1997|Tablet |

NotNickIsAway |

02:35 |
bas0801 |

NakedFury |
the first number is hotbar and second inventory? |

Thanks, NotNickIsAway |
02:36 |
NotNickIsAway |
No. The hotbar is always eight. |
02:36 |
NotNickIsAway |
2*3 == 6, so the inventory size would be six. |
02:36 |

then to change hotbar would not be posible with lua? |

Your contribution has been noted in the code comment |
02:37 |
jojoa1997|Tablet |
the first is rows the second is collumns |
02:37 |
NotNickIsAway |
Setting the inventory size smaller than eight causes weird hotbar errors, but you can get it down to eight without issue. |
02:38 |
arsdragonfly| |
What if we make the slots in hotbar unable to get items? |
02:38 |
arsdragonfly| |
like the output slot in the furnace |
02:38 |
NotNickIsAway |
Then you will have blamnk spots in the hotbar, but no errors. |
02:38 |
NotNickIsAway |
*blank |
02:39 |
bas0801 |
Using player:get_inventory():set_size( requires the amount of slots to be larger than 7 |
02:40 |
NakedFury |
then I guess what I said about source was true |
02:40 |
NotNickIsAway |
I thought it allowed lower numbers, but made the hotbar act strangely. Maybe that was fixed? |

where is negative declared? |
05:49 |
khonkhortisan |
I turn a face either clockwise or counterclockwise, then if the face I'm turning is on the negative side of the axis, I swap the rotation direction. I added another variable there to say whether it was on the negative side. |

"negative" says whether it's -axis, sign says whether it's +axis, and I set one to the other. |

something that relates each face with param2 from default to its current val lol |
05:59 |
khonkhortisan |
I have one function that rotates on axis, and another function that gives the equivalent of node.tiles for the rotated node. |

06:00 |
mauvebic |
you mean the bright and dark spots? |
06:00 |
khonkhortisan |
no, the graded shading on a face |
06:01 |
khonkhortisan |
I have a 3x3 platform in the air, rotate it 180° Y, and the shadows on the bottom are pointing outward, instead of toward the center |
06:02 |
VanessaE |
khonkhortisan: that's a known bug. |
06:03 |
khonkhortisan |
Is it older than 6d facedir? |

maybe the lighting/shadow system just hasn't been updated to match 6d |

But it messes up with regular Y rotation |
06:05 |
VanessaE |
khonkhortisan: no, it started with 6d I think |
06:05 |
khonkhortisan |
I think it's just doing lighting before turning, when it should be done in the other order. |

mine a single block, then take that block into the inventory 'refill' slot |

use the result of that to build further |

it takes two clicks to empty my inventory |

so useless blocks aren't an issue |

that's peculiar... I installed minetest-git as a system-wide installation; it can't find "default", "bucket", "creative", "doors", "dye", "fire", "stairs", "vessels", "wool |

You left out minetest_game, which is still a thing. |

i though it was split into build and survival |
20:21 |
CryAngel |
kaeza: im most sure something just missed, coz on linux is compiled and linked ok |
20:22 |

minetest_game was split into minetest_game, build, and survival. |
20:22 |

so, there's 3 different-but-very-similar official games |

20:23 |
NotReallyNick |
Is minimal the most official of all? It's included with the engine, after all .... |
20:23 |
NotReallyNick |
Yet it's a test game, so maybe it's the least official .... |
20:23 |
Menche |
does minimal still have the old 0.3.x textures? |
20:23 |
NotReallyNick |
Yes. |
20:24 |
NotReallyNick |
Or, last I checked. |
20:24 |

and the menubg is still the old 0.3.x dirt |
20:24 |
Menche |
or was, before the clouds |
20:24 |

Yep. Old textures. |
20:25 |
CryAngel |
kaeza: i think is must be something simple, like some flag not passed or some |
20:25 |

NotReallyNick: it looks like it's only tryign to pull minetest_game in the pkgbuild for arch |
20:25 |

which explains my errors I think |
20:25 |
NotReallyNick |
Okay. I think they fixed that issue in the dev version, though not sure. |
20:26 |

I think. |

the changeable gamemodes and the inventory |

also could you take some pics of the inventory in both modes and post them in a commenty |

could reproduce the low fps effect. going back from far view to short (35) did not let the fps go back up for me |

22:15 |

item drops are done in lua right? |
22:16 |
Menche |
an attempt to make vines decay caused a lot of it |
22:16 |
Menche |
yes, in one of the builtin/ scripts |
22:16 |
mauvebic |
okay so it should be easy enough to tweak to give em a timeout |
22:17 |
Exio |
Kacey: i don't see a real difference when i pass the 60~70 FPS more than a "bit" smoother gameplay in very-very-fast situations.. |
22:17 |

though it should really be default that after awhile item drops should disapear on their own |
22:17 |
Menche |
yes. especially because clearobjects quickly becomes unusable |
22:17 |
Exio |
but MT is not a FPS so i start seeing the "FPS drop" when i get under 40~45 FPS |

clear objects + item drops + every other mod that recklessly adds entities = major lag |

would be useful for //fixlight |
22:36 |

especially with the latest difficulties |
22:37 |
PilzAdam |
Im wondering if it would work to have a queue for worldedit so that it can be executed step by step in on_step() |
22:37 |
mauvebic |
there are lua coroutines for that that work very nicely |
22:37 |
mauvebic |
works in tandem with onstep |
22:37 |
mauvebic |
or on globalstep |
22:38 |
Uberi |
yeah coroutines could do it I bet |
22:38 |

god knows, implemented for binvox'es over a cubic kilometer in size lol |
22:39 |
mauvebic |
fixlight could work with coroutines but |
22:39 |
Uberi |
it would reduce the decoupling in the API though |
22:39 |
mauvebic |
as c55 pointed out, the present method is too hackish |
22:40 |
Uberi |
the digging air method? or the param1 modification? |
22:40 |

Uberi |
does that work? the param1 method |
22:41 |
mauvebic |

22:41 |

22:43 |
mauvebic |
well, if youre digging air, then youre loading each node, and checking the name to begin with |
22:43 |
jordan4ibanez |
it's a ghetto fix for the slab not updating when the server removes the slab and turns it into a full node |
22:44 |
mauvebic |
tho the param1 method loads each node, and replaces it with one that has default param1 value, so... same difference lol |
22:44 |
mauvebic |
it would be much better, and faster, if done in cpp |
22:44 |
