00:12 kaeza VanessaE, would you mind if I add support for intllib on homedecor, plantlife, and pipeworks?
00:13 VanessaE how would that work?
00:13 kaeza I'll change every nodedef to use the S() macro
00:13 kaeza the code will work with or without intllib
00:14 Uberi that's pretty cool kaeza
00:14 kaeza and I'll throw in a spanish translation of it
00:14 kaeza Uberi, thanks
00:15 Uberi it would be more useful to me if I spoke something other than English though :P
00:15 kaeza I hope other devs will adapt their code as well; Calinou already has his mods adapted
00:17 NekoGloop|Laptop Soon as i know how.

00:18 kaeza It's relatively easy
00:18 kaeza the hardest part is adapting compound messages
00:22 NekoGloop|Laptop Ah...
00:22 Uberi left #minetest
00:22 NekoGloop|Laptop I was thinking it would be a core function.
00:23 * NekoGloop|Laptop votes for a 13375p34|< language option
00:26 kaeza NekoGloop|Laptop, soon it will be a core mod
00:26 kaeza (I hope)

00:27 telek Hey, has anyone here run into a libdrm crash with minetest when loading (I assume) textures?
00:27 kaeza :)
00:28 kaeza Kacey, the_xyz already has a 0.4.5 win build
00:28 STHGOM bye
00:28 STHGOM left #minetest
00:28 Kacey not windows
00:28 kaeza anyway, 0.4.5 is just a version bump
00:28 Kacey i dont run windows...
00:29 kaeza if you have been following MT from git, then you already have 0.4.5
00:29 Exio telek: what gpu/drivers?
00:29 Kacey ...
00:29 kaeza OMG! Kacey only uses stables!
00:29 telek Exio: RS200 and R200 (Former is really an RV100 core, latter is a 2nd gen 8500 core)
00:29 kaeza -.-
00:30 Kacey no i just dont update often
00:30 kaeza Kacey, the version number was just increased, go get it at git
00:30 Exio telek: ah :/
00:31 MiJyn * NekoGloop|Laptop votes for a 13375p34|< language option
00:31 Exio telek: i got some weird bugs with drm and dri, and that stuff with my intel gpu
00:31 MiJyn Sure!
00:31 telek Exio: What gen card?
00:31 telek And how much VRAM?
00:31 Exio (random crashes), my solution was changing to gallium
00:31 Exio 8mb of vram iirc, or so, intel gma, it is a netbook
00:31 telek Exio: In my case that was when the problems started.

00:32 Exio er, GME
00:32 telek And I may be wrong but I don't think they actually leverage gallium
00:32 Exio yep, i use that driver
00:33 telek The gallium support is for the i965+ stuff.
00:33 telek It may use the gallium software fallbacks though.

00:35 telek Exio: Oh a fellow gentoo user.
00:35 telek Yeah, FYI xorg is getting really hit or miss on anything older than i915
00:35 telek Well i915 or r300
00:38 Exio hm
00:38 Kacey http://forum.minetest.net/viewtopic.php?id=4654 have you guys seen this?
00:39 Exio i only had problems with xorg and drivers with my old sis 315 in the old computer
00:40 Exio having a highres tty, a decent framebuffer, and a working non-vesa (aka VERY slow) xorg was a PITA
00:40 MiJyn NekoGloop|Laptop, I'm working on it :P

00:41 Kacey hi rba
00:41 RealBadAngel http://i.imgur.com/iFzQ7Tg.jpg
00:41 MiJyn I wonder if this'll get pulled though :P
00:41 RealBadAngel i made something for fun
00:42 RealBadAngel stargate is animated of course ;)
00:42 telek Exio: Indeed. This system was working prior to upgrading Xorg/mesa hence why I was asking.
00:43 Kacey kaeza, can your armorplus work with 3darmor?
00:43 telek Problem is the xorg/dri guys tossed out xaa/dri1 meaning all the 'legacy' cards that HAD either 2d or 3d acceleration are now reverted to unaccelerated modes if they need to upgrade :(
00:44 Kacey 3d_armor een
00:44 Kacey even*
00:44 Exio damn
00:44 kaeza nope
00:44 kaeza either one or the other
00:44 Kacey ... ok
00:44 RealBadAngel http://i.imgur.com/aluqrc8.jpg
00:44 Kacey what if i make them work?
00:45 kaeza RealBadAngel, what is that?
00:45 telek Exio: Only reason R300-500 support isn't is because that was the test platform for the work that eventually transformed into gallium (I think intel was working on it, but using some of their own pieces. The r300 ended up being the reference for what was going to be the 'official' way before all the mesa guys moved to intel(and possibly AMD?)
00:46 VanessaE looks like a Stargate
00:46 RealBadAngel it is stargate :)
00:46 RealBadAngel 3x3 nodes big, with animated wormhole
00:47 VanessaE nice
00:47 kaeza coming soon: portals to other servers...?
00:47 kaeza or you ditched the idea RBA?
00:47 RealBadAngel i was thinkin about something really cool for this one
00:47 RealBadAngel and i made stargates
00:48 Exio telek: hm
00:49 MiJyn NekoGloop|Laptop, it will need considerable editing though, I'm just doing basic l337
00:49 Kacey kaeza, how do i craft the certain diff. armor types?
00:50 RealBadAngel btw when playing with this one i found out another thing
00:50 RealBadAngel .5 in nodeboxes is not a maximum of any kind
00:50 RealBadAngel it is just a value for default sized node
00:51 NekoGloop|Laptop RealBadAngel: I do believe most of us know that.
00:51 RealBadAngel nodebox can be 10 times bigger than node
00:51 RealBadAngel for example i didnt knew
00:52 VanessaE how did you get the texture to stretch across the whole 3x3 zone though?
00:52 VanessaE 9 separate files?
00:52 RealBadAngel no, theyre tiled to default sized nodebox
00:52 RealBadAngel *node
00:52 Kacey would it be possible to make a 3x3x3 structure out of bricks that you have to build that turns into a coke oven?
00:52 RealBadAngel sure
00:53 VanessaE easilty.
00:53 VanessaE -t
00:53 VanessaE but why?
00:53 Kacey for a mod i *might* make later
00:53 RealBadAngel such concept is used in mc
00:53 VanessaE better to craft such a thing, perhaps from several pieces, and then have your mod place all of the bricks all at once when you place it
00:53 RealBadAngel then whole structure acts as a single node
00:53 Kacey that is not fun
00:53 VanessaE exactly
00:54 Kacey RBA knows what i am talking about
00:54 VanessaE I know what you're talking about too
00:54 RealBadAngel build that structure from parts, sure
00:54 Kacey but also to make mega-furnaces and all that stuff
00:54 RealBadAngel but then transform it to single node
00:54 RealBadAngel which is 3x3x3
00:54 Kacey aah
00:55 RealBadAngel also rubiks cube as a single node would be fun
00:56 Kacey http://forum.minetest.net/viewtopic.php?id=3342 rba
00:56 RealBadAngel btw imagine how many details can have such structure

00:56 RealBadAngel jin_xi: http://i.imgur.com/aluqrc8.jpg
00:56 RealBadAngel i made animated stargates :)
00:57 RealBadAngel btw, to play animations im using flat nodeboxes
00:58 RealBadAngel could be used as tv screens (tip for homedecor) :)
00:58 VanessaE RealBadAngel: homedecor already has an animated TV :)
00:58 RealBadAngel with a movie on it?
00:59 RealBadAngel make like 50 or more frames, and play it
00:59 VanessaE it could be a movie, but for now it just flips through a handful of screen images.  making it into a handful of short videos would be easy but irrlicht can't handle huge animations if the textures are too large
00:59 VanessaE it uses an animated texture to do it
01:00 VanessaE oops, bug

01:08 MiJyn kaeza, linux
01:08 MiJyn but I can read windoze :P
01:08 kaeza I dunno on Win :P
01:08 kaeza on linux:

01:08 kaeza and LANG=<yourlanguage> minetest
01:08 MiJyn ah
01:08 MiJyn thanks
01:09 MiJyn uh, it doesn't work
01:09 kaeza hm?
01:09 MiJyn I made my own language (l3)
01:09 kaeza ah
01:09 khonkhortisan http://postimage.org/image/5piwnxfbt/ Should diagonal rail end diagonally instead of stopping on an axis?
01:09 kaeza you must compile with -DENABLE_GETTEXT=1
01:09 MiJyn right
01:11 kaeza and then:
01:11 kaeza LANG=l3 minetest

01:11 MiJyn what happens if I edit a language?
01:11 MiJyn do I need to recompile?
01:12 kaeza yes
01:12 kaeza not quite "recompile"
01:12 MiJyn rba, I hope it doesn't let you get up automatically, right?
01:13 MiJyn dang, it still doesn't work

01:18 jojoa1997 where
01:18 VanessaE it's a command-line switch used to start a server, works for the game/client too
01:19 kaeza ...
01:19 VanessaE also, your latest change to peaceful_npc went from massively too many to zero
01:19 MiJyn sorry for restarting the issue, but neither LC_ALL=l3 or LANG=l3 or LC_MESSAGES=l3 work (I've also tried using fr and de, no luck either)
01:20 MiJyn I have used -DENABLE_GETTEXT=1 (and it did compile them)
01:21 VanessaE jojoa1997: wait, here they come now
01:21 jojoa1997 VanessaE will you update your server to 0.4.5
01:21 jojoa1997 here who come

01:22 jojoa1997 cool
01:22 VanessaE your peaceful_npc... they're working now, just took a couple minutes for them to show up
01:22 jojoa1997 yeah
01:22 VanessaE I'm testing your latest git
01:22 jojoa1997 they are set to spawning once a minute
01:22 VanessaE ok
01:22 jojoa1997 i think i will go with making chests spawn randomly that could make a village
01:22 VanessaE wait wait
01:22 VanessaE don't do that.
01:22 VanessaE please
01:23 jojoa1997 why
01:23 VanessaE put that sorta stuff into a separate mod
01:23 jojoa1997 you need server priv to do it
01:23 VanessaE make that second mod depend on peaceful_npc
01:23 jojoa1997 wait
01:23 jojoa1997 i didnt mean spawn randomly
01:23 jojoa1997 i meant make super rare to make
01:23 VanessaE oh?
01:23 VanessaE I'm gonna go ahead and deploy peaceful_npc now, btw.  It's working about the way I like.
01:24 jojoa1997 cool
01:24 jojoa1997 also vanessae is there a way you could give me the //save command for github
01:24 VanessaE eh?

01:26 jojoa1997 i know
01:27 jojoa1997 since world edit dosnt change that much a edit for one server would be fine right VanessaE ?

01:28 VanessaE you can always download the map file from the server thread on the forum
01:28 jojoa1997 of course i forgot
01:29 jojoa1997 what does foobr mean/
01:29 VanessaE foo, bar, baz, quux are placeholders
01:29 VanessaE something you write when you don't need to actually use a real world
01:29 khonkhortisan Should diagonal rails end diagonally? http://postimage.org/image/s7xmbjdiz/
01:30 VanessaE khonkhortisan: yes
01:30 VanessaE if possible.
01:30 jojoa1997 VanessaE is there a way i could just put something in another config file and just add a line somewhere
01:30 VanessaE khonkhortisan: also, the diagonal rails should be a little farther apart
01:30 VanessaE maybe two pixels
01:30 VanessaE jojoa1997: depends on what it is you're doing
01:31 khonkhortisan The metal part?
01:31 VanessaE yes
01:31 jojoa1997 i just want to set one world to finite liwuid and another to low gravity
01:31 VanessaE jojoa1997: ah
01:32 khonkhortisan can't be done.
01:32 VanessaE well for that you can just create multiple config files and point the server to whichever one you want
01:32 VanessaE khonkhortisan: the rails?
01:32 khonkhortisan It makes it not straight if I go any wider
01:32 VanessaE hrm
01:32 jojoa1997 what do i type to point it to the right one
01:32 VanessaE jojoa1997: the --config command line switch

01:35 VanessaE yep
01:35 jojoa1997 ok where do i put each config file
01:35 jojoa1997 just in the world folder
01:36 VanessaE anywhere you want
01:36 VanessaE I usually keep then in ~/.minetest
01:36 VanessaE e.g. ~/.minetest/minetest.conf   or   ~/.minetest/minetest.conf-lowres
01:37 jojoa1997 if i want the special file do i have to start minetest with the command line every time/
01:37 jojoa1997 ?
01:37 VanessaE yep
01:37 VanessaE or make a launcher that does that
01:38 VanessaE RealBadAngel: any update on those two bugs?  *curious*
01:38 jojoa1997 i think someone should make a launcher for minetest
01:38 kaeza they should put this on the main page of the MC forums http://cdn.memegenerator.net/instances/400x/26247939.jpg
01:38 kaeza </troll>
01:38 VanessaE jojoa1997: impossible, because each person's system is a little different
01:38 VanessaE what works on my box won't work on yours, etc.
01:38 jojoa1997 or at least ingame changeable settings
01:38 VanessaE kaeza: haha
01:39 jojoa1997 i think we should be able to change texture packs, shaders, etc. ingame
01:39 VanessaE eventually we probably will
01:39 VanessaE just not yet
01:39 jojoa1997 i know it will not be soon
01:39 VanessaE depends on whether there are people who want these things badly enough to code them
01:40 kaeza I was working on a fMT frontend using PyGtk, but ditched the idea
01:40 kaeza -f
01:40 sokomine hi
01:40 kaeza PyGtk is a beeeotch
01:40 sokomine ah. good. no hostile bots around
01:40 jojoa1997 also depends on whether they can code C++
01:40 jojoa1997 OH YEAH
01:41 jojoa1997 VanessaE, sokomine: i tried making a building using towntest but i didnt know that it uses world edit schematics so i ended up coding a building by hand
01:41 jojoa1997 all from typeing with trial and error
01:41 sokomine vanessa: i have the larger/better readable font you posted once in my flat world version kept for testing/importing but not in my main world. can you tell me the filename that was responsible?
01:42 sokomine jojoa: well...that sounds like a lot of work...
01:42 sokomine how did you code your buildings?
01:42 meldrian Hey channel, a small question: Under which license is the minetest-logo mentioned here: http://wiki.minetest.com/images/c/cf/Minetest_logo.png
01:43 jojoa1997 0 0 1 default:dirt 13 1
01:43 jojoa1997 0 1 1 default:dirt 13 1
01:43 sokomine jojoa: oh. sounds like a difficult way of building....
01:43 jojoa1997 0 3 1 default:dirt 13 1
01:43 jojoa1997 yeah well try doing it where you dont really understand which way goes where
01:43 jojoa1997 5x5 hut took half an hour
01:44 sokomine it is to a degree human-readable but not very much
01:44 sokomine if you want such small buildings learn l-system
01:44 sokomine for simple houses that might be suitable
01:44 jojoa1997 i was wondering whether you all were crazy to make such big files
01:44 jojoa1997 no i thought that that was what you guys did
01:45 sokomine for the ones i built for my village (as sellers for farmingplus-items) it might have worked to a very limited degree as well. after all the buildings share a similar style
01:45 jojoa1997 also sokamine you should work to intergrate the working mobf code into your mod
01:45 sokomine i do use mobf already
01:46 jojoa1997 so it can just depend on moretrees cause mobf and moretrees are a heavy load
01:46 sokomine meldrin: i'm sorry. i have no idea. the logo *might* have been done by PilzAdam. please send him a message and ask. most of his works are WTFPL

01:46 jojoa1997 no i mean take code from mobf and put it in yours so people dont have to doewnload all three files

01:47 VanessaE er,
01:47 VanessaE CC-By-SA
01:47 jojoa1997 vanessae could you make a 32x32 version of your texture pack
01:48 meldrian nice, so i can use it while mention the website
01:48 VanessaE jojoa1997: there already is one.
01:48 sokomine jojoa: ah, you mean include mobf in my soon-to-be modpack so that it comes ready to run? i'll have to ask sapier. also might be problematic if people already run mobf

01:48 jojoa1997 O.o
01:48 VanessaE jojoa1997: it comes in 16, 32, 64, 128, 256, and 512px sizes.
01:48 jojoa1997 is there a 16x16
01:48 jojoa1997 cool
01:49 VanessaE and after my RAM upgrade arrives in the mail, I'm going back to the 512px size if I can :-)

01:51 jojoa1997 VanessaE what is the progress on the moon server or is it no go
01:51 VanessaE I haven't launched it yet, been too busy with other stuff
01:51 telek Moon server?
01:51 VanessaE telek: I'm considering making a server that's basically on the moon - low gravity, only materials you would find there, etc.
01:51 jojoa1997 have you made a game version yet
01:52 VanessaE not yet
01:52 VanessaE like I said, I've been too busy
01:52 telek Anyone know how much VRAM is required by a standard selection of mods with 16x16 or 32x32 textures now?
01:52 telek VanessaE: Ahh sounds interesting.
01:52 VanessaE telek: you shouldn't need much with textures that small; any old video card can probably handle that
01:52 VanessaE at those sizes, you need to consider system RAM more than VRAM
01:53 VanessaE in which case, 512MB should be plenty
01:53 telek VanessaE: Well I'd been getting crashed after upgrading on linux.
01:53 telek Erm crashes.
01:53 telek And only 64 megs. I think I can bump it up to either 128 or 256 max.
01:54 telek Had worked fine previous so it might be glitchy 3d drivers.
01:54 VanessaE 64MB?  shared memory?
01:55 * jojoa1997 grr
01:55 VanessaE out of how much total RAM?
01:56 jojoa1997 could someone please explain to me what liquid_relax = 1-4 means

01:56 hmmmm hrmm _ds_
01:56 hmmmm ”…/src/emerge.cpp:244:10: warning: deleting object of abstract class type ‘MapgenParams’ which has non-virtual destructor will cause undefined behaviour” – nice
01:56 hmmmm pretty neat considering it doesn't even have a destructor
01:57 VanessaE jojoa1997: no idea
01:58 telek VanessaE: 512
01:59 telek It was working with 0.4.3 until I upgraded graphics drivers.

02:01 VanessaE you sure you ended up on the right set of drivers to begin with?
02:02 telek VanessaE: There's only one set on linux :D
02:02 telek PRoblem is they've been breaking/throwing away all the old stuff while working on all the 'hip new features'
02:04 VanessaE blah
02:04 VanessaE there was a time not that long ago when Linux was the antithesis of that behavior :(
02:04 telek Exactly what I've been saying, but it's become too corporatized :(
02:04 VanessaE remember when "Linux can run on any old broken down piece of hardware" ?
02:04 VanessaE :(
02:04 telek Yep.
02:05 telek Linux just got rid of i386 support with 3.8. He said 'Good Riddance' :D
02:05 meldrian i miss those times
02:05 telek Seems silly to me, they could've just added an i686 arch.

02:06 hmmmm thexyz's is pretty official

02:07 VanessaE well I mean official as in linked-to from the main site
02:08 jojoa1997 when will rivers be added
02:08 jojoa1997 also it is cool how biomes are now definable
02:08 telek What's the command to see all tags/branches in git?
02:09 jin_xi git branch -a
02:09 VanessaE jojoa1997: biomes were already definable in plants_lib
02:09 jojoa1997 no i mean in the game code itself
02:10 VanessaE I think plants_lib needs some polish and then added to builtin as a useful modding library
02:10 jojoa1997 what does builtin contain
02:10 VanessaE (not flowers, etc.  Just the utility library)
02:11 VanessaE not sure what all is there

03:48 kaeza I mean homedecor
03:48 VanessaE sure, what's it involve?
03:48 VanessaE I mean
03:49 VanessaE what is the extent of the changes?
03:49 kaeza changes to almost (if not all) the files, mainly to call S() on translatable strings
03:49 VanessaE o hok
03:49 VanessaE oh ok
03:50 VanessaE well when it's done I'll merge it
03:50 kaeza also, a bit of rework on the compound messages
03:51 kaeza for example, instead of name.." takes stuff from kitchen cabinet at "..pos
03:51 VanessaE this oughta be fun..
03:51 VanessaE will I still be able to maintain my own code after this? :)
03:51 kaeza I'll do S("%s takes stuff from cabinet at %s"):format(name, pos)
03:52 kaeza VanessaE, you'll only need to remember to call S() on any string meant to be translated
03:52 kaeza i.e. stuff like "homedecor:oven" need not (*must* not) call this
03:52 VanessaE right
03:53 VanessaE just printable strings, descriptions, etc.
03:53 kaeza exactly
03:53 VanessaE tell ya what
03:53 VanessaE in future, I code it, you translate it ;)
03:53 kaeza hehe
03:53 kaeza In any case, you need not do any translation

15:16 thexyz kaeza: lua has no regexes
15:16 kaeza huh?
15:16 thexyz yeah
15:17 thexyz Unlike several other scripting languages, Lua does not use POSIX regular expressions (regexp) for pattern matching. The main reason for this is size: A typical implementation of POSIX regexp takes more than 4,000 lines of code. This is bigger than all Lua standard libraries together. In comparison, the implementation of pattern matching in Lua has less than 500 lines. Of course, the pattern matching in Lua cannot do all that a full POSIX implementation does. Ne
15:18 kaeza thexyz, Lua's implementation is adequate for most purposes
15:18 thexyz probably
15:18 kaeza also, that says it does not implement *POSIX* regexes, not that it does not implement them
15:18 thexyz what are you trying to achieve?
15:19 kaeza thexyz, unescape special characters on a string

15:42 kaeza ...
15:42 kaeza it's a bit confusing
15:43 thexyz oh
15:43 kaeza for example, in the file I write x \= 6 = literally
15:43 kaeza "x = 6" is the key
15:44 kaeza and the stuff after the second (unescaped) '=' is the value
15:45 thexyz one moment..
15:46 kaeza and I want a pattern that matches "\\[nrt=]"

17:22 Traxie21 using "if playerdata[name] ~= nil is getting through

19:20 Exio when flying*
19:20 hmmmm it's not going to *crash*, just suck up all your rendering thread's cpu time

19:21 khonkhortisan The animation can only start if it has already been ended, instead of trying to keep up with the number of places.
19:21 hmmmm yeah, that's normal and unavoidable
19:21 Traxie21 I hvae a peice of crap for a coputer
19:21 Traxie21 *computer
19:21 hmmmm it's at 50-60% most of the time due to lock contention
19:21 jordan4ibanez why not have it restart on place?
19:21 Exio hehe
19:21 khonkhortisan I'd prefer it speed up the more it gets behind
19:21 jordan4ibanez more fancy shmansy like that
19:22 hmmmm don't worry... the novelty of using 500 threads will wear off quick
19:22 Jordach rubenwardy, I've been working at sorting the base dirs out
19:22 PilzAdam num_emerge_threads = 16 isnt that much faster
19:22 rubenwardy cool

19:23 hmmmm 1

19:23 Exio i don't has any server, i only use singleplayer for looking around :P
19:23 Traxie21 2 isnt all that bad
19:23 hmmmm if you leave num_emerge_threads blank, it'll select the number of cores you have, minus 2
19:23 Exio 4 :D
19:23 hmmmm that's my recommended setting
19:23 Traxie21 I hvae 2 cores...
19:23 Traxie21 ...
19:23 Traxie21 0 threads?
19:23 hmmmm 1
19:24 hmmmm min{1, number_of_cores - 2}

19:29 jordan4ibanez isn't peaceful npcs a mod of my mod?
19:30 kaeza does that mean there will be some epic change that will bump version to 0.5.0...or perhaps 1.0.0?

19:38 rubenwardy self.is_straight = false
19:39 rubenwardy that would be better than using enums
19:39 khonkhortisan it starts as false, and is based on two rails on the same axis.
19:39 khonkhortisan not an enum, I'm just packing variables into a class to return to the previous recursive function
19:39 rubenwardy ok
19:43 khonkhortisan I'm suprised that I wrote the rules using flat ground for testing, and it still works with uneven ground
19:45 TForsman joined #minetest

19:54 khonkhortisan it looks like I can't do this: class myClass {...} function(...) {...};
19:54 khonkhortisan I can declare an object of that class, or a function that returns that class, but not at the same time
19:54 ShadowNinja These issues can probably be closed 128, 214, and 229
19:58 khonkhortisan "new types may not be defined in a return type"
19:58 khonkhortisan Why? Why do I need to separate them?
19:59 hmmmm what?
19:59 MiJyn hey guys, you should _really_ try terasology :D
20:00 khonkhortisan I have: class neighborRail {...}; neighborRail recurseRail(...){...}
20:00 khonkhortisan and I want to change it to: class neighborRail {...} recurseRail(...){...};
20:00 hmmmm first off what language is this
20:00 khonkhortisan c++, minetest
20:00 hmmmm okay just making sure
20:00 * ShadowNinja already tried it, got 10 fps at lowest settings
20:00 hmmmm so why do you want to do that exactly?
20:00 pandaro joined #minetest
20:01 khonkhortisan Because the function is the only object of that class
20:01 hmmmm that's definitely not how classes work at all
20:01 hmmmm and you're using the term object wrong
20:01 hmmmm what you mean is method
20:01 khonkhortisan huh.
20:02 hmmmm class neighborRail { neighborRail recurseRail() { <code here> } };
20:02 khonkhortisan I can do that?
20:02 hmmmm so neighborRail neigh = some_other_neighborRail.recurseRail();
20:02 hmmmm I am not sure what you're exactly trying to accomplish though
20:03 hmmmm what is neighborrail?  why does recurseRail have to be a method of neighborRail?
20:03 khonkhortisan Because recurseRail calls itself, giving me the neighborRails.
20:03 Jordach thexyz, forum's taking longer than usual to load
20:04 hmmmm but you don't need it to be a method of neighborRail

20:06 rubenwardy decode that fools!
20:06 khonkhortisan and class classname {...} object; seems like it would do that?
20:06 hmmmm well, fortunately you cannot do that
20:06 khonkhortisan object can only be a variable, not a function?
20:07 hmmmm an object can be the return of a function
20:07 khonkhortisan okay
20:07 hmmmm an object can contain functions (which are called methods of the object)
20:07 hmmmm but an object and a function are two fundamentally different things
20:07 rubenwardy bye all
20:07 hmmmm an object is data, and a function is a set of instructions that gives back some sort of result based on input data
20:08 khonkhortisan I confused what the function returned as being the type of the function - or something like that
20:08 PilzAdam rubenwardy's first line in ASCII is hg||DEL
