VanessaE, would you mind if I add support for intllib on homedecor, plantlife, and pipeworks? |
00:13 |
VanessaE |
how would that work? |
00:13 |
kaeza |
I'll change every nodedef to use the S() macro |
00:13 |
kaeza |
the code will work with or without intllib |
00:14 |

Exio: Only reason R300-500 support isn't is because that was the test platform for the work that eventually transformed into gallium (I think intel was working on it, but using some of their own pieces. The r300 ended up being the reference for what was going to be the 'official' way before all the mesa guys moved to intel(and possibly AMD?) |

00:49 |
Kacey |
kaeza, how do i craft the certain diff. armor types? |
00:50 |
RealBadAngel |
btw when playing with this one i found out another thing |
00:50 |
RealBadAngel |
.5 in nodeboxes is not a maximum of any kind |
00:50 |
RealBadAngel |
it is just a value for default sized node |
00:51 |
NekoGloop|Laptop |
RealBadAngel: I do believe most of us know that. |
00:51 |
RealBadAngel |
nodebox can be 10 times bigger than node |
00:51 |
RealBadAngel |
for example i didnt knew |
00:52 |
VanessaE |
how did you get the texture to stretch across the whole 3x3 zone though? |
00:52 |
VanessaE |
9 separate files? |
00:52 |
RealBadAngel |
no, theyre tiled to default sized nodebox |
00:52 |
RealBadAngel |
*node |
00:52 |
Kacey |
would it be possible to make a 3x3x3 structure out of bricks that you have to build that turns into a coke oven? |
00:52 |
RealBadAngel |
sure |
00:53 |
VanessaE |
easilty. |
00:53 |
VanessaE |
-t |
00:53 |
VanessaE |
but why? |
00:53 |
Kacey |
for a mod i *might* make later |
00:53 |
RealBadAngel |
such concept is used in mc |
00:53 |
VanessaE |
better to craft such a thing, perhaps from several pieces, and then have your mod place all of the bricks all at once when you place it |
00:53 |
RealBadAngel |
then whole structure acts as a single node |
00:53 |
Kacey |
that is not fun |
00:53 |
VanessaE |
exactly |
00:54 |
Kacey |
RBA knows what i am talking about |
00:54 |
VanessaE |
I know what you're talking about too |
00:54 |
RealBadAngel |
build that structure from parts, sure |
00:54 |
Kacey |
but also to make mega-furnaces and all that stuff |
00:54 |
RealBadAngel |
but then transform it to single node |
00:54 |
RealBadAngel |
which is 3x3x3 |
00:54 |
Kacey |
aah |
00:55 |
RealBadAngel |
also rubiks cube as a single node would be fun |

00:57 |
RealBadAngel |
btw, to play animations im using flat nodeboxes |
00:58 |
RealBadAngel |
could be used as tv screens (tip for homedecor) :) |
00:58 |
VanessaE |
RealBadAngel: homedecor already has an animated TV :) |

with a movie on it? |
00:59 |

make like 50 or more frames, and play it |
00:59 |

it could be a movie, but for now it just flips through a handful of screen images. making it into a handful of short videos would be easy but irrlicht can't handle huge animations if the textures are too large |

VanessaE |
jojoa1997: ah |
01:32 |

can't be done. |
01:32 |

well for that you can just create multiple config files and point the server to whichever one you want |

just not yet |
01:39 |
jojoa1997 |

01:39 |
VanessaE |
depends on whether there are people who want these things badly enough to code them |

if you want such small buildings learn l-system |
01:44 |

for simple houses that might be suitable |
01:44 |
jojoa1997 |
i was wondering whether you all were crazy to make such big files |
01:44 |
jojoa1997 |
no i thought that that was what you guys did |
01:45 |
sokomine |
for the ones i built for my village (as sellers for farmingplus-items) it might have worked to a very limited degree as well. after all the buildings share a similar style |
01:45 |
jojoa1997 |
also sokamine you should work to intergrate the working mobf code into your mod |
01:45 |
sokomine |
i do use mobf already |
01:46 |
jojoa1997 |
so it can just depend on moretrees cause mobf and moretrees are a heavy load |
01:46 |

01:51 |
VanessaE |
I haven't launched it yet, been too busy with other stuff |
01:51 |
telek |
Moon server? |
01:51 |
VanessaE |
telek: I'm considering making a server that's basically on the moon - low gravity, only materials you would find there, etc. |
01:51 |
jojoa1997 |
have you made a game version yet |
01:52 |
VanessaE |
not yet |
01:52 |
VanessaE |
like I said, I've been too busy |
01:52 |

Anyone know how much VRAM is required by a standard selection of mods with 16x16 or 32x32 textures now? |
01:52 |
telek |
VanessaE: Ahh sounds interesting. |
01:52 |
VanessaE |
telek: you shouldn't need much with textures that small; any old video card can probably handle that |
01:52 |
VanessaE |
at those sizes, you need to consider system RAM more than VRAM |
01:53 |
VanessaE |
in which case, 512MB should be plenty |
01:53 |
telek |
VanessaE: Well I'd been getting crashed after upgrading on linux. |
01:53 |
telek |
Erm crashes. |
01:53 |
telek |
And only 64 megs. I think I can bump it up to either 128 or 256 max. |
01:54 |
telek |
Had worked fine previous so it might be glitchy 3d drivers. |

he's still trying to fix the last bug I pointed out :) |
02:51 |

I'd really want to make an automatic farm... |
02:53 |
sokomine |
automatich? hm. you might donate for those poor farmers whose farms i'm building :-) i seriously doubt they can survive on such small farms :) |
02:53 |
kaeza |
hehe |
02:55 |
kaeza |
push 1 button, it harvest all your crops, a mese tube sorts them, and they get stored in separate chests |
02:56 |
kaeza |
VanessaE, BTW, what's the difference between a normal tube and a sand one? |
02:56 |
VanessaE |
a sand tube scoops up entities near it |
02:56 |
kaeza |
or...should I ask RBA? |
02:56 |
VanessaE |
put one at the end of a regular tube line, put a chest at the other end |
02:57 |
VanessaE |
drop something next to the sand tube and it'll be sucked up and sent through the circuit |
02:57 |

not yet. suggest it to sapier. he's been working on a pathfinding algorithm |

so..ehm...VanessaE, I'm halfway thru translating stuff. Would you mind merging it once it's done? |
03:48 |
kaeza |
I mean homedecor |
03:48 |
VanessaE |
sure, what's it involve? |
03:48 |
VanessaE |
I mean |
03:49 |
VanessaE |
what is the extent of the changes? |
03:49 |
kaeza |
changes to almost (if not all) the files, mainly to call S() on translatable strings |
03:49 |
VanessaE |
o hok |
03:49 |
VanessaE |
oh ok |
03:50 |
VanessaE |
well when it's done I'll merge it |
03:50 |
kaeza |
also, a bit of rework on the compound messages |
03:51 |
kaeza |
for example, instead of name.." takes stuff from kitchen cabinet at "..pos |
03:51 |
VanessaE |
this oughta be fun.. |
03:51 |
VanessaE |
will I still be able to maintain my own code after this? :) |
03:51 |
kaeza |
I'll do S("%s takes stuff from cabinet at %s"):format(name, pos) |
03:52 |
kaeza |
VanessaE, you'll only need to remember to call S() on any string meant to be translated |
03:52 |
kaeza |
i.e. stuff like "homedecor:oven" need not (*must* not) call this |
03:52 |
VanessaE |
right |
03:53 |
VanessaE |
just printable strings, descriptions, etc. |
03:53 |
kaeza |
exactly |
03:53 |
VanessaE |
tell ya what |
03:53 |
VanessaE |
in future, I code it, you translate it ;) |
03:53 |
kaeza |
hehe |
03:53 |
kaeza |
In any case, you need not do any translation |
03:54 |
kaeza |
only mark strings as translatable |
03:54 |
VanessaE |
right |
03:54 |
kaeza |
and then be bugged by users with pull requests adding new languages :) |
03:55 |
VanessaE |
heh |
03:55 |
kaeza |
I'll have some fun trying to mark your door descriptions... |

10:35 |
Calinou |
integrate it in intllib maybe |
10:36 |

erhm... I was going to do that; but doing that from a mod would need to redefine minetest.register_* |

15:16 |
kaeza |
huh? |
15:16 |
thexyz |
yeah |
15:17 |
thexyz |
Unlike several other scripting languages, Lua does not use POSIX regular expressions (regexp) for pattern matching. The main reason for this is size: A typical implementation of POSIX regexp takes more than 4,000 lines of code. This is bigger than all Lua standard libraries together. In comparison, the implementation of pattern matching in Lua has less than 500 lines. Of course, the pattern matching in Lua cannot do all that a full POSIX implementation does. Ne |
15:18 |
kaeza |
thexyz, Lua's implementation is adequate for most purposes |
15:18 |
thexyz |
probably |
15:18 |
kaeza |
also, that says it does not implement *POSIX* regexes, not that it does not implement them |

depends on your imagination. if you can think one up fast with existing materials - maybe half a minute to type everything in. if you have to invent all the parts or if you want special behaviour it may take a very long time |
