something i don't like about coal for black dye is that it is a non-renewable non-farmable resource, unlike all other dyes. coal is not always available, for example on a lifeless moon or planet, or in a high-altitude floating base or a space station/space colony |

it was fine as long as there where mixing receipes for dyes. it was possible to figure out how to turn one dye into all other dyes through crafting. green from cactus or even black from coal where good sources. the exact receipes varied depending on the server |
