Hello Minetesters. I'd like to play Minetest on my Chromebook. It looks like it defaults to touchscreen use. I'd like to use the traditional mouse and keyboard controls. Is that possible? |

I'm comfortable with Linux and Crostini and could always play that version, but I figured I'd look into the Play Store version first. |

yeah the android version only has touchscreen controls, you can't enable the desktop control scheme. for desktop-like controls, you would need to run the linux version inside of the Chrome OS Linux container... it's been a long time since I tried it, can't remember if mouse capture works properly for programs in the Linux container |

<warr1024> All "remote" touch controls (where you're touching some abstract button somewhere rather than the actual thing you're trying to interact with on the screen) are "bad" to varying degrees. For these kinds of things sometimes I'll actually put little pieces of tape on the screen where the buttons are to give me some tactile feedback to keep me from drifting off target. |

<warr1024> MT's general lack of input flexibility (including lack of gamepad support on all platforms) is a known and much hated issue, but I think there's some movement to use SDL2 that was ongoing that's a prerequisite to bringing any kind of sanity to these things. |

<warr1024> 8541 seems to suggest that games/mods should be able to control aspects of touch control layout ... in particular, being able to hide useless controls, un-hide-in-submenu important controls, and possibly adjust the general layout is pretty important to me. I have a few games that the mobile touch controls aren't good for, and in fact Roller maintains a separate touch control layout in his Android NodeCore app. |
