Hi. I would like to add a potato grater item that when placed on a crafting table with a bunch of potatoes produces mashed potatoes and its 'health' is reduced. I have two questions: how do I add health to an item that is not a tool. Do i use tool_capabilities with some groupcap? Also how do I reduce this in a crafting, perhaps I should use minetest.register_on_craft? |

in a first step you could try to make use of the craft replacements feature (item is kept in the crafting table) |

and then process the crafting table afterwards to wear down the item. The anvil mod for example solves this by putting your items (pickaxe -> potato) as item entities (objects) onto a node (anvil -> grater) which can then be punched with the tool which then does the processing steps |

Still no COP (or car to put it in...), group operation, or any special modes to put it in aside from the ones there. Those are coming... soonish, probably. |
