Hi; I'm playing singleplayer on 5.5.0, and no matter what inventory mods I add, it doesn't change the appearance of the inventory, or add a crafting guide. |

Is there a setting I need to change to allow the inventory to change appearance? |

Yes. I've enabled every mod in my install for my game. |

Okay, Unified Inventory seems to work in Lite mode. |

And then on the next load, it doesn't, and the dreambuilder hotbar mod isn't working. Weird |

settl3r[m] |
If you die, you have to ask one of the admins (aka demigods) to inherit the ownage from your deceased char, and probably naming your new char accordingly, like if "John" died, -> "John_II" |
15:56 |
settl3r[m] |
The protection blocks prevent any griefing in their respective area (which is 11x11x11 m³). |
15:56 |
settl3r[m] |
But they wrote, if you "really piss off" one of the demigods, you might lose your former protected stuff, as they would then be unwilling to let your new char inherit it (but you still can start new completely, of course). |
15:57 |
aoki |
I died |
15:57 |
aoki |
from hunger |
15:57 |
aoki |
lol |
15:58 |
settl3r[m] |
oh, RIP |
15:58 |
settl3r[m] |
yeah food is tough to get near spawn :/ sorry |
15:58 |
settl3r[m] |
(inheritance is really only needed for protected stuff) |
15:58 |
aoki |
I see |
15:59 |
aoki |
I was also very foolish to run instead of walking |
15:59 |
settl3r[m] |
yeah. btw, you will get hungry even when staying still completely, albeit very slowly |
16:00 |
settl3r[m] |
you can harvest grass to obtain wheat |
16:00 |
settl3r[m] |
oh, you would of course need water and light |
16:01 |
settl3r[m] |
but wheat only needs torchlight, luckily |
16:01 |
aoki |
that was my plan |
16:02 |
aoki |
but I starved before the wheat grew |
16:02 |
aoki |
I found someone's hut with an empty field where I plantet wheat |
16:02 |
settl3r[m] |
wow |
16:03 |
settl3r[m] |
no apples trees found? |
16:03 |
settl3r[m] |
s/apples/apple/ |
16:03 |
aoki |
nope |
16:03 |
settl3r[m] |
(when i started i tried to survive on self-grown apple trees alone lol) |
16:03 |
aoki |
I found something like corn and sunflower, but I am not sure how to use them |
16:04 |
settl3r[m] |
unfortunately, apples don't regrow once harvested |
16:04 |
aoki |
that's unnatural |
16:04 |
settl3r[m] |
this makes it a real challenge |
16:04 |
settl3r[m] |
hm. in nature, it takes a full year for them to "regrow" |
16:05 |
settl3r[m] |
so i would say, it is semi-reaöistic |
16:05 |
settl3r[m] |
s/reaöistic/realistic/ |
16:07 |
settl3r[m] |
oh idea: you could message lux (aka lister aka soylent_cow) and ask, if they can give you some food to help you get started.. |
16:07 |
settl3r[m] |
here: https://app.element.io/#/room/#hightime:matrix.org |
16:07 |
aoki |
:3 starving is part of the challenge |
16:08 |
settl3r[m] |
sure.. but when i started, there was more food at spawn, apparently, so it would be fair to give new players at least some food, so everyone has the same chance.. |
16:09 |
settl3r[m] |
ok, one could argue, change is another feat of that server, it will not stay static |
16:09 |
settl3r[m] |
..and part of the challenge. But.. maybe the admin (lux) would help new joiners like you. |
16:10 |
settl3r[m] |
like, eg. giving you some breads or so, for some ingame days |
16:10 |
settl3r[m] |
or.. maybe he makes it a part of the starting items |
16:11 |
aoki |
tbh I'd remove starting items too |
16:11 |
settl3r[m] |
(everyone starts with an iron pick, iron sword and iron chestplate anyway, so it would not make that large a difference, to add some food into the mix) |
16:11 |
settl3r[m] |
ok, that would be an option, after a reset (which will never happen in this server) |
16:13 |
settl3r[m] |
but.. you could try to trade one of your starting items for food with another player there.. |
16:13 |
settl3r[m] |
(maybe the pick or the chestplate) |
16:14 |
settl3r[m] |
or.. you could ask Lux to give you food as starting items instead of the iron pickaxe.. |
16:14 |
settl3r[m] |
[so you would start with iron sword, iron chestplate and a stack of food, instead] |
16:15 |

16:17 |
Pexin |
one of the moderators on my regular server made a custom change to apple trees so they regrow, but only if they were in a specific orientation when picked |
16:18 |
settl3r[m] |
but what, if someone fell these trees after harvesting apples? |
16:18 |
settl3r[m] |
do they regrow then? |
16:19 |
Pexin |
..after chopping down the tree? |
16:19 |
settl3r[m] |
yeah |
16:19 |
Pexin |
not unless they replant |
16:19 |
Pexin |
there's no tree |
16:20 |
settl3r[m] |
i mean, they could configure it so, that the tree regrows, if there is the chunk left.. |
16:20 |
settl3r[m] |
s/chunk/trunk/ |
16:20 |
Pexin |
that would cause problems for people who build log houses |

16:21 |

necrotree |
16:21 |

16:23 |

strangely, having a "sword of damocles" hanging over me, while playing there, added spice to the gameplay and made it more immersive and thus, more enjoyable. |
16:27 |
settl3r[m] |
now, if i play non-public hardcore servers offline, it would bore me to death probably, so i need the constant latent threat looming in the distance, to push my gameplay, to improve my bases etc. it drives me forward, so that it is not static, it pulls me in a good way :) |
16:28 |
settl3r[m] |
also, non-hardcore public servers would be boring for me, now, too. |

it's ok the wheat I planted in my past life should be grown by now |
16:42 |
settl3r[m] |
ah great, so you helped yourself ^^ |
16:42 |
settl3r[m] |
it's all part of the learning experience, goes the saying |
16:42 |
settl3r[m] |
"What doesn't kill us (forever), only makes us stronger (in the long run)." |
16:46 |
settl3r[m] |
if counting all possible 45°-directions in a cube (from the center), there are even more: about ~26 or so ^^ |
16:47 |
settl3r[m] |
i wonder, if there is a formula, to calculate the number of vectors, which can go from the center, given the same degree-separation from neighboring vectors.. |
16:48 |
settl3r[m] |
(for 90°-vectors, there are always 6, from the center to the edges) |
16:48 |
settl3r[m] |

16:52 |
settl3r[m] |
i now, wonder, how one would calculate the probability that a traveller who travels from the center to the edge of the cube meets someones base by chance alone.. (using the info, that you can only see 256 blocks far, when encountering new nodes [when receding, rendering range isn't limited] ) |

16:54 |
settl3r[m] |
nice, but hopefully not used in that hardcore server :/ |
16:54 |
settl3r[m] |
it would break my immersion and it would endanger peoples bases for griefers |
16:57 |
settl3r[m] |
also, i always hate it, when people fly in a (skyblock-)server, as that defeats the whole purpose |
16:58 |

<Jonathon> makerworld is just some moron who tried to sell minetest on itch.io with a ton of mods, it got taken down, as well as getting banned here, and now there butt hurt |

<SX> I think additionally many (most?) licenses were stripped out which is already violation by itself in most cases |
