13:13 Daisae Is there an easy way to import text to run? Attempts to paste into the console fail.
13:15 sfan5 works for me on Linux
13:15 sfan5 thought I have to press ctrl+c twice
13:15 sfan5 though*

13:28 rubenwardy works for me, but you need to paste twice
13:28 rubenwardy this is a known Irrlicht issue though
13:28 Krock Ctrl+V twice
13:28 Daisae That worked.
13:28 Daisae Thanks.

13:48 Daisae What Sketch2 last suggested I use to check whether my map produced nodes of a certain type was. minetest.register_lbm({nodenames={'default:stone_with_iron'}, action=function(pos,node) minetest.chat_send_all( minetest.pos_to_string(pos, 2) ) end})
13:49 Daisae I also tried with minetest.log("error" , "Message") but see nothing in the game or at the terminal. I check for 'default:stone', so there should be plenty of output.

15:44 Daisae Am I using the console correctly? I enter for example: minetest.log("error","Test")
15:44 Daisae I see as output only ACTION[Server]: CHAT: <singleplayer> minetest.log("error","Test")
15:49 kurtzmusch Daisae use pastebin to show us your mod
15:50 Daisae I do not have a mod. It is not for a mod.
15:51 Daisae It is only a single line as a test.
15:51 kurtzmusch but you have to run it as a mod
15:51 Krock you need a mod to run lua code
15:51 Krock like worldedit chatcommands
15:51 kurtzmusch it seems you are trying to type lua instructions directly on the game chat?
15:51 Krock //lua <cmd>
15:53 Wuzzy Daisae: download the luacmd mod
15:53 Wuzzy Then you will get a command called "/lua"
15:54 Daisae Yes, I was.
15:54 Daisae I will get the luacmd mod.
15:54 Wuzzy /lua minetest.log("error", "Test")
15:54 Wuzzy and not
15:54 Wuzzy minetest.log("error", "Test")
15:55 Wuzzy Krock: installing worldedit is overkill. luacmd for the win! ?

16:41 Krock on the other hand it also lists mods that are no longer on the forums, and probably deleted

23:47 wowaname https://forum.minetest.net/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=9183 reading this, i see a lot of people who miss the point of an "infinite" or rather larger horizontal world size
23:47 opal left #minetest
23:48 wowaname people asking "have you explored it all", "cant you just build near spawn", "why not just play singleplayer if youre gonna build in the middle of nowhere"
23:48 wowaname not once in that thread (and that thread's been around for a while, with a lot of posts over some time) have i seen anyone bring up that one of the first multiplayer minecraft servers utilised the full potential of the large playspace
23:49 wowaname it's useful to have a large playspace with servers that have no rules other than the game mechanics themselves
23:50 wowaname there arent many clientside mods for minetest that exploit this method of play (hacked / cheating clients if you will, i dont really see it that way because i only play this way on anarchy servers) but i believe thats only because the current primary community of minetest is people who dont play that way
23:51 wowaname i think a large potential audience (or a few) is being deterred by mt's current limitations
23:51 wowaname yes im aware minetest isnt minecraft, as has also been pointed out several times in that thread, but it should be better than minecraft
23:52 wowaname and i think this map limitation is a severe setback at least for me. i currently play minecraft and am looking at cuberite (mc c++ server) for server hosting, i'll do development on that in my spare time and make it "playable", and i believe a public anarchy server would really stress test cuberite and make the bugs pop out real quick
23:53 wowaname but i'd be more than happy to jump onto minetest, attract players to it, spend my free time developing for that instead of cuberite (because cuberite still needs the proprietary mc client)
23:53 wowaname i just dislike the mentality that "if i can play with 64k³ then so can you"
23:54 wowaname and a lot of that thread seemed very filled with asshole remarks back and forth
23:55 wowaname "building far from anyone else" is not the same as playing singleplayer. we do that to reduce the chance of our bases found with all our storage and valuables, and we build more "public" shit closer to spawn and axes
23:55 wowaname theres still a community there, loosely speaking
23:55 wowaname and of course theres the server chat
23:56 wowaname im just ranting about this because there is an entire, large community of people who play like this, and i guess none of them have heard of minetest or they're deterred by the "don't play that way, then" attitude of much of the community, at least from what i can deduce from that single forum thread
23:57 wowaname i also like the vertical space that minetest offers. not many of us *need* that either, but it's there too, and im sure i could think up cool gamemode ideas that use that space more effectively. i told someone "wouldnt it be cool to dig down to hell rather than build a portal to it" (which apparently exists as a mc mod, but hey, imo it'd be cooler in minetest)
23:58 kurtzmusch wowname: i played in an anarchy server where the world size was actually reduced to encorage more encoutners
23:58 wowaname im not asking anything of anybody here, i just needed a place to rant about this and give an indication that yes, a larger map isnt an arbitrary, imagined need
23:58 wowaname kurtzmusch: so did i but i personally dont like playing like that
23:58 wowaname i dont like my encounters to be forced
23:59 calcul0n i just build 10k nodes from spawn, morons are too lazy to get there
23:59 wowaname some people like basing close to spawn just to see how long it'll take for their stuff to be found. some people like to do that for some of their builds and not for their others
