Hi Xiong :) |
12:23 |
Xiong |
Dunno if you think you can fit in more mods... but I'd vote for "anvil" and signs_lib. The anvil is clever, with costs and limitations, so the technic tool workshop remains vital. You must know signs_lib; surprised you don't run it already. |

Xiong i will consider the anvil mod but i want to try and get the current mods cleaned up and setup correctly first... as for signs_lib... my only concern is that as far as im aware there are alot of textures included with it. and my server already has alot of mods lol |
12:33 |
rubenwardy |
which is usually desirable |
12:34 |
crazyR |
rubenwardy. thats perfect.... the player will be stood next to the node but due to the nodes builtin formspec handler not showing the player name who is visiting it. i have to use minetest.show_formspec() inside the on_rightclick hook |
12:34 |
crazyR |
^ sorry if that made no sense at all :D |
12:34 |
rubenwardy |
I use this feature because different players would need to see different formspecs |
12:35 |
rubenwardy |
in capitalism game, the shop owner would see an admin formspec but the customer would see a customer one |
12:35 |
rubenwardy |
so yeah, is useful |
12:36 |
crazyR |
^ haha funny enough ive been looking to do this for similar reasons. in my economy mod i want to make it so that only the shop owner can see the formspec.... |

i do think nodes need a new hook method "def.set_formspec(pos, player) end" |

I agree signs_lib comes at a cost but the payoff is big. Default signs bad in large numbers... like > 2. Reading every book on the shelf to find out which one you want to read. Let you think on it. |

Time doesn't return? That depends entirely on your viewpoint. Linear time is a distinctly Western and modern concept. Most people have thought of time as cyclical... days, moons, years, kings, wars, birth, death. |
17:34 |
Xiong |
It's natural for people to experience a moment and after much time come to a similar moment and say it's returned. |

(Giorge) My viewpoint is that time is unexistent, made by us to arrange things easier |
17:37 |
Xiong |
Well what? |
17:37 |
Giorge |
Yeah i dont really believe in time. |
17:37 |
Xiong |
Nonexistent? It's demonstrable. |
17:38 |
Xiong |
One can debate much; whether time truly passes or is a fixed landscape through which we view pieces |
17:38 |
Giorge |
But since we are unsure about all of those |
17:39 |
Giorge |
People have many many different theories |
17:39 |
Xiong |
One can argue whether the future is fixed or mutable. But it is quite certain we live in four large dimensions. |
17:39 |
Giorge |
Is it? |
17:42 |
jas_ |
don't forget about those tribes without any concept of 'time' |
17:42 |
jas_ |
some think it doesn't even really exist, that it's an illusion. don't ask me tho! hahaha |
17:42 |
Xiong |
Well try denying space. I say I don't believe in it. The universe is a dimensionless point. |
17:43 |
Giorge |
Tribes? Cmon any better word choice? |
17:43 |
jas_ |
'groups of people that have not been contacted by "western civilisation"' ?? i dunno if i spelled that right |
17:43 |
Giorge |
You are right but |
17:43 |
jas_ |
but if you know what i mean, you can forgive my language maybe. anyway, it's a funny subject. i can say time and space are an illusion, you certainly don't have to believe me |
17:43 |
Giorge |
It came out so offencivelu |
17:43 |
jas_ |
oh i see |
17:44 |
jas_ |
tribes, huh. well i didn't know, i apologize. |
17:45 |
Giorge |
Thats why the world is beautiful. So many different perceptions |
17:45 |
Xiong |
Um, ain't no more. We cover the world. -- Sherwin-Williams |
17:45 |
jas_ |
i don't mean to insinuate that time/space don't exist for us here and now, in this the physical .. whatever u call it |
17:45 |
jas_ |
but peace ;D |
17:45 |
Giorge |
But "time does not return" was a piece of poem. Which apperently failed what it was to do |
17:46 |
Giorge |
On what it had* |
17:46 |
Xiong |
Well the moving finger writes. |
17:47 |
Xiong |
On this days it sounds like the common blessing: Many happy returns! on its head. |
17:49 |
Xiong |
I think most people still have deep faith in cyclic time. Look at "Cloud Atlas". |
17:50 |
Giorge |
And it went too far. Oof |
17:50 |
Giorge |
At least better than silence |
17:52 |
Xiong |
Even I have a recurrent... image... of myself in a previous life... which I consider nonsense. |
17:56 |
jas_ |

17:56 |
jas_ |

In this sticky thought I am a medieval knife sharpener. Every day I sit and crank my grindstone. Kitchen knives, woodsmans' axes, cheap weapons. The fine swords are done at the manor by another, more respected man. Relatively more! As mere peddlers we rank just above merchants and thieves. |
17:57 |
jas_ |
cool |
17:57 |
jas_ |
good times |
17:58 |
Giorge |
Well in medieval times, weapon sellers were rich, even if they only had knives |
17:58 |
Xiong |
Sellers yes. Sharpeners no. |
17:59 |
Giorge |
Oh a sharpener |
17:59 |
Giorge |
Didnt read that one |
18:01 |
Xiong |
Also wealth bought little without rank. Nobles often were in debt... but retained power. The common habit of kicking out the Jews was linked to their holding so much paper... being forbidden to work land they often turned to banking, then considered illegitimate business. |
18:02 |
Xiong |
So... |
18:04 |
Xiong |
And although as all of my class I drink heavily and sleep heavily and badly, I dream by day, staring at the endlessly turning wheel and the edge of another blade. And my daily thought is ill formed but involves riding the grindstone, like an ass but continuing to crank it with my feet... as I do all day every day anyway |
18:06 |
Xiong |
And in my mind (this stubborn daydream within a stubborn daydream) I roll right out of town, over the hill and down the next valley... out of sight to see the world. |
