nvm, I see the point. avoids repetitive code for playing the sound. |

yes! has anyone found a solution to get rubber trees working with moretrees and ethereal? |
00:30 |

i've tried changing default:dirt_with_grass to ethereal:green_dirt and again to ethereal:grove_dirt in moretrees/biome_defs.lua, and still no rubber trees. |

you know, that's kinda a lie. I'll be at my computer lots, but I won't be exactly not busy. |
03:00 |
emuNandPC |
i kind of want to make it like the old minecraft trailer, but only with servers |
03:00 |
emuNandPC |
maybe we could do something like that? |
03:00 |
octacian |
what do you mean only with servers? |
03:00 |
emuNandPC |
or just portray normal minetest |
03:01 |
emuNandPC |
i mean we just visit random servers and have someone walk around and build their own stuff |
03:01 |
octacian |
that sounds best to me. I think to showcase several mods would also be interesting. |
03:01 |
octacian |
(what sounds best is to portray normal MT) |
03:02 |
emuNandPC |
maybe we could do etheralNG? |
03:02 |

i think that would be a good idea |
03:02 |

yeah! |
03:02 |

mesecons + digilines too maybe. It'd be a big thing for ppl coming from MC. |

modding is a massive part of the game, just vanilla would be boring |

03:09 |

03:09 |
emuNandPC |
you would have to ask Shara for permission |
03:09 |
octacian |
why? |
03:09 |
emuNandPC |
we could just host our own server and have someone build |
03:10 |
octacian |
that's what I was thinking. |
03:10 |
garywhite |
You can use my server...I'd have to turn off the non-working IRC mod cause I can't config it right, but it has all that stuff |
03:10 |

aight, smarty peeps, how do I make an entity that is (1) invisible and (2) can be rotated and (3) I can attach a player to it that is NOT invisible, and (4) the entities selection box is invisible |
05:09 |
sofar |
a sprite entity has no rotation, apparently? |
05:09 |
sofar |
cube works, can rotate, but I can't make it invisible since then my attached player becomes invisible |
05:10 |
sofar |
(sigh) |
05:10 |
ShadowNinja |
sofar: Dear sir, if you're going to be a pedant, I must insist that you be correct. If you're wrong you're hardly being pedantic. |

05:10 |
sofar |
I suck at pedanting |
05:11 |
sofar |
ooo, upright_sprite seems to work |
05:12 |
ShadowNinja |
sofar: 1 and 2 can probably be done with just a tiny object with a transparent texture at worst, and rotation depends on what tire of rotation you want. |
05:12 |
sofar |
so sprites ignore rotation |
05:12 |
sofar |
but upright_sprite does not |
05:12 |
ShadowNinja |
IIRC pan works but not tilt. |
05:13 |
sofar |
so that works, and the sprite size can be tiny |
05:13 |
sofar |
I just want it inside the player model |
05:13 |
ShadowNinja |
Then pan should be all you need. |
05:13 |
sofar |
:setyaw() works |
05:15 |
sofar |
now it spawns in the wrong spot somehow, but that's something I should be able to figure out |

wont mods get added to the game after some time? |

since some seem to be quite cool |
18:25 |
jubalh |
or how does the game evovle? |
18:25 |

mods get added to the default game, minetest_game, yes. This recently happened with the carts mod |

SO with the upcoming 0.4.15 you will have carts in your inventory |

yes. joinplayer was moved to lua, but not leave |
18:32 |

It was annoying to modify the cpp files just to change those, I'm glad the next version I compile will be different |

err wrong commit |
18:32 |

Ugh..why? |

Oh I guess because the timeout handler is only available in c++ |

hi IhrFussel :) |
18:46 |
IhrFussel |
Does anybody know if the current 0.4.14-dev made any major changes to the mod API since Aug? |
18:47 |
IhrFussel |
By major I mean "mod breaking" |
18:48 |
whitephoenix |
I don't think so |
18:48 |
Krock |
garywhite, only spam topics/posts are deleted |
18:49 |
Krock |
where would we go if all stupid things must be removed? |
18:51 |
IhrFussel |
I kinda thought my MT version is from Oct but seems like it's from Aug o.o ... must've mixed something up |
18:52 |
Krock |
I've lost the line a bit too... always using indev builds |
18:52 |
Krock |
but it always feels like the last release was like a year ago (which is sometimes true) |
18:53 |
IhrFussel |
Krock, yeah well...I'm not sure if it's a good idea to always update to the newest version on a server |
18:54 |
Krock |
an update all two months seems fine to me |
18:54 |
Krock |
except there was a significant bugfix/new feature |

18:56 |

IhrFussel you could wait for 0.4.15-stable, it comes out next week |
18:56 |
Krock |
how about stable? |
18:56 |
Krock |
*it should come out |
18:56 |

Someone told me it's always better to use dev versions on servers |
18:56 |
sfan5 |
IhrFussel: generally mod breaking changes are not supposed to happen |
18:56 |
Krock |
IhrFussel, because it's more up-to-date. But only if the dev versions already contain important changes |

YuGiOhJCJ joined #minetest |

Okay then: Will there be any ground breaking changes until next week? |
18:58 |

no |
18:58 |
Krock |
no, due to feature freeze |
18:58 |
IhrFussel |
But then it makes no difference right? If I compile 0.4.14-dev today I basically have a "0.4.15 stable" |
18:58 |
Krock |
open fridge, put queued features in, close and do bugfixes. then unfreeze the stuff after release |
18:58 |
agaran |
so next release will be delivered by santa claus in new decorated gift nodebox? |
18:59 |

agaran, if you're lucky.. who knows? :3 |
18:59 |

I doubt I am enough lucky for that.. |
19:00 |

Krock: where's this feature fridge you're speaking of? :D |
19:01 |
Krock |
good question actually. I think I've lost it somewhere |
19:01 |
agaran |
feature fridge.. hmm shall it be nodebox with lots of metadata.. right? |
19:02 |
Krock |
however, it seems to be open cuz it's damn cold in here |
19:02 |
agaran |
well, what if it is closed, and that cold is just by imperfections in insulator? |
19:03 |
Krock |
it has a recursive insulator. if it doesn't do its job you simply go back in time, say, revert. |
19:04 |
agaran |
and git stash.. and git cherrypick? |
19:04 |
Krock |
yeah, things like this. |
19:06 |

19:41 |
