14:15 TheWild Guest75821: for example a block being moved by piston. Block in its initial position is not moving, it is a node. When it is about to move, the node is removed and entity is created that imitates a block where the node was. Entity is given the proper velocity, so it looks like it is moving. After a calculated time, that is when entity should land, it is removed and the proper node is placed back in new position.
14:17 TheWild however, you have to ensure in some way that when block is moving, no player can place a node in cell the block is going to occupy. It can be done for example by registering special air-like node and use it as a reservation.

22:46 TheWild Minetest is really acting weird in performance. on singleplayer minetest_game it is somewhere between 35-50 FPS, Dreambuilder varies, 40-50 on ocean, 20-30 in forest (okay I know, leaves), sometimes random drop to 10 FPS. Dummy game with few only blocks registered gets 60 FPS with random drops to 45 FPS.
22:46 TheWild Now online, on one server I liked to play on it goes 20-40 FPS but has annoying random temporary drops to 5-10 FPS.
22:46 TheWild I've been playing on few other servers, and on two of them I got smooth 50-60 FPS.
22:46 TheWild What's more, on full viewing range it is about 30-60 FPS, still pretty playable.
