ok, some people would like play hide and seek ? |
00:00 |
ShadowNinja |
RealBadAngel: how much power should it consume per second? |
00:00 |
RealBadAngel |
lemme think |
00:00 |
RealBadAngel |
it shall depend on the size of field for sure |
00:01 |
RealBadAngel |
do you have elements counted? |
00:02 |
ShadowNinja |
what do you mean? |
00:02 |
RealBadAngel |
how many force fields block are there |
00:02 |
berome |
Obstru: there is white nickname of player ingame wich can be see just from everywhere |
00:02 |
ShadowNinja |
no, I could probably add that |
00:03 |
RealBadAngel |
you do have a table for this |
00:03 |
RealBadAngel |
add counter just |
00:03 |
RealBadAngel |
and try some small number for each field node |
00:04 |
RealBadAngel |
this way bigger the field it will consume more power |
00:04 |
Obstru |
<berome> i don't understand ... |
00:04 |
RealBadAngel |
also an idea, make different modes for fields |
00:05 |
RealBadAngel |
sphere, walls |
00:05 |
berome |
Obstru: we can't play hide and seek |
00:05 |
RealBadAngel |
and allow adjusting size and pos |
00:05 |
berome |
because it is to easy to find everyone |
00:06 |
RealBadAngel |
so you could make force fields doors, bays, habitats |

00:20 |
berome |
but your screenshots are correct?? |
00:20 |
mauvebic |
oh yeah, still get 25-30 fps, but its a far cry from the 60 i had at the beginning of mm2 lol |
00:21 |

theres no way in hell i can load the whole of spawncity to screenshot though lol |

00:28 |

ive added a weird new part to pipeworks lol the display |
00:29 |

since most of the power on starships comes from plasma conduits (pipes), i figured the displays would come in handy |

HAHA!!!! |
00:31 |
mauvebic |
weird, as if treegen was running before mapgen |
00:32 |
mauvebic |
we really should add something that generates surrounding chunks gradually instead of lagging when arriving in the area |
00:36 |
hmmmm |
ya we should |
00:37 |
hmmmm |
by we you mean me |
00:37 |
mauvebic |
anyone lol |
00:38 |
hmmmm |
will you be the one to do it? |
00:38 |
mauvebic |
there are a few people with pull |
00:38 |
* Kacey |
is lost when it comes to mapgen code |
00:38 |
mauvebic |
i wish but cpp might as well be spanish to me |
00:39 |
hmmmm |
spanish is pretty simple |
00:39 |
mauvebic |
thats not the point lol |
00:39 |
mauvebic |
even if i learned cpp tomorrow, it would prolly take a long time before anything i wrote would be pulled lol |
00:40 |
mauvebic |
so all i can do is suggest |
00:40 |
mauvebic |
if you dont wanna tackle it that's fine |

00:43 |

i just made a suggestion, if you think it's ridiculous dont respond to it |
00:46 |
hmmmm |
you seem offended |
00:46 |
hmmmm |
did i offend you? |
00:46 |
sokomine |
it would be great if that cavegen-bug could be finally defeated :-) |
00:46 |
hmmmm |
i didn't mean to offend you, sorry if i did |
00:46 |
mauvebic |
no you seem to be getting upset |
00:47 |
mauvebic |
why bother responding otherwise? |
00:47 |
sokomine |
hm, yes, it's always simpler to suggest something than to actually implement it...sorry for that. after all i started it with the picture |
00:47 |
mauvebic |
dont feel bad, people are allowed to suggest things |
00:47 |
mauvebic |
even if they dont know cpp |
00:48 |
sokomine |
but if you implement it one day you can be sure that we'll be happy about it :-) |
00:48 |
mauvebic |
you can comment on the quality of cars without visiting the manufacturing plant, thats pretty relative |
00:50 |
sokomine |
that only holds to a degree...we usually pay for cars. maybe we too seldom say thank you for what other people do |
00:50 |
mauvebic |
thats not really the point, none of us are getting paid, why would anyone be special? if mere suggestions can set someone off maybe they need to do something else for a while :p |
00:50 |
sokomine |
mt is already a great game. because of that there's always something that could be improved - even if it where 100% realistic :-) the trees for example are great. and there are very often nice regions which invite to "settle" down there |

all i've gotta say is that if you go through life thinking that anything and everything is "bullying and negative attitude" and then talk about a fight and fighting as if there was one going on, you're going to rustle a lot of peoples' jimmies |

01:14 |

so what is it then, about loading surrounding chunks, that made you respond? |
01:14 |
hmmmm |
it wasn't that at all. it was the suggestion |
01:15 |
hmmmm |
like maybe you don't see it in the same manner i do, but when you gave the suggestion it's like calling up your state representative and saying "ya there should be more jobs, that'll fix the economy" |

that's not the point though. you must've missed the point. it's the obviousness and lack of information in your suggestion that makes it mockable |

sorry typo |
01:21 |

it is better to not mock |

no matter how easy it is |

why hasn't another solution been found? |
01:21 |

01:21 |

if its so obvious then it should be fixed by now, thats mockable too |
01:22 |
mauvebic |
obivously not all the options have been explored, |
01:22 |
hmmmm |
there's a difference between the problem being obvious and the solution being obvious |
01:22 |
hmmmm |
your suggestion was a statement of a problem, which is obvious, not a statement of the solution |
01:22 |
mauvebic |
well im sorry if i suggested something thats already been considered and rejected, at least people are giving it thought tho |

i wouldn't expect to hear people going around IRL and saying "yeah we should just have more jobs" |
01:25 |
mauvebic |
lovely analogy but hardly applies |
01:25 |
hmmmm |
they would maybe say something more slightly more profound with actual information in it |
01:25 |
hmmmm |
like "maybe if we reduce the wage tax, there will be more of an incentive to create more jobs, thus fixing the economy" |
01:25 |
hmmmm |
for example |
01:26 |
khonkhortisan |
we should make minimum wage depend on inflation |
01:26 |
mauvebic |
cut the bullshit with your analogies and stick to mt related examples |
01:26 |

how is my analogy not perfectly fitting |
01:26 |
mauvebic |
naw youre bringing politics into it |

so you dont like the scope of my suggestion, boohoo, like i said, if you thought it was stupid, then why respond? |

because you should know how stupid it is |
01:27 |
mauvebic |
you know we have a lot of kids on here trying to learn programming for the first time, laughing at them and mocking them might not be the best approach to that |
01:27 |

why not |
01:28 |
mauvebic |
and you say you dont have a superiority complex |
01:28 |

02:29 |
hmmmm |
i don't know, but it's in the newest version for sure |
02:29 |
sokomine |
hm. sometimes (mostly on redcrabs server) i found caves which had a flat ground surface for a large part. the floor of caves was oddly even |
02:30 |
hmmmm |
sokomine, hrmm, looking at the code, yes that's logically what would happen.. |
02:30 |
sokomine |
usually i prefer above-the-ground things :-) |
02:30 |
sdzen |
we at minetest pride ourselves in living under rocks |
02:31 |
sokomine |
er...you can have them :-) i'll build my house above ground and we'll all enjoy our respective areas :-) |
02:31 |
hmmmm |
alright so whatever |
02:31 |
hmmmm |
i'll just leave it this way |
02:31 |
Kacey |
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jedDiy8p4s8&list=PL0356053BA45C3464&index=14 we need one... |
02:31 |
sokomine |
so the only problem that might occour in caves would be rare walls that are too regular? |
02:31 |
hmmmm |
yeah |
02:32 |
hmmmm |
which, again, should happen as it is right now |
02:32 |
sokomine |
doesn't sound so dramatic. can you test it? |
02:32 |
hmmmm |
well yeah |
02:32 |
hmmmm |
it's not dramatic at all |
02:32 |
hmmmm |
but i know people will complain about it |
02:32 |
sokomine |
hm. will those walls occour more often? maybe you can do a few screenshots |
02:33 |
sokomine |
it's hardly avoidable that people will complain. that will always happen. which doesn't mean "life" underground should get less good... |
02:33 |
sdzen |
aren't there already walls in minetest that look too regular? |
02:34 |
NekoGloop |
Yep. |
02:34 |
sdzen |
so what the hell does it matter? |
02:34 |
NekoGloop |
There'll just be some more. |
02:36 |
sokomine |
or maybe the whole cave generation could be like it is beneath sea level and be replaced/modified above sea level? |
02:37 |
hmmmm |
http://ompldr.org/vaGpzYQ |
02:37 |
khonkhortisan |
that looks silly |
02:38 |
sdzen |
seen it before |
02:38 |
sdzen |
old mapgen |
02:38 |
NekoGloop |
That actually looks kinda badass. |
02:38 |
mauvebic |
cavegen where y > 0 kinda odd |
02:38 |
hmmmm |
so like |
02:38 |
NekoGloop |
mauvebic: y>0 cavegen == caves with entrances above ground |
02:39 |
hmmmm |
would you guys be okay with things like this every once in a blue moon? |
02:39 |
* khonkhortisan |
doesn't get a vote |
02:39 |
sdzen |
I see no issue |
02:39 |
hmmmm |
because it's really hard to fix completely, plus the it was previously this way so nothing's being changed, only being fixed |
02:39 |
sokomine |
i've got the impression that "things like this" already happen? |
02:39 |
sokomine |
true...more people ought to be asked |
02:39 |
NekoGloop |
Seeing as the general public's opinion is irrelevant? |
02:39 |
mauvebic |
what if it only applied to default nodes? |
02:40 |
sdzen |
they do already happen |
02:41 |
NekoGloop |
The only one who's opinion matters is celeron's. Since he's basically making this into a open-source-but-you-can't-influence-development game |
02:41 |
hmmmm |
alright |
02:41 |
mauvebic |
well there are 3-4 peopl with pull arent there? |
02:42 |
Kacey |
i cant figure this out... |
02:42 |
sdzen |
eh in my opinion there are three people with meaningfull opinions |
02:42 |
hmmmm |
as for the caves-eating-trees problem |
02:42 |
sdzen |
2 of which left |
02:42 |
NekoGloop |
mauvebic: And celeron sitting there reverting everything. |
02:42 |
hmmmm |
hrmmm |
02:42 |
hmmmm |
yeah i'll get that |
02:42 |
hmmmm |
in a different commit though |

i dont think this can work\ |
02:45 |
sokomine |
since the cavegen does not only eat trees but imported large maps and buildings (worldedit) as well fixing that would be really nice. i don't know if the cave-loving players can live with those changes? it doesn't seem much to me...caves are not always irregular |
02:45 |
mauvebic |
well when you create a map, you could have a checkbox for caves and stick that in the .mt file? |
02:46 |
Kacey |
night all |
02:46 |
mauvebic |
could be a decent compromise for everyone |
02:46 |
sdzen |
I have a good feeling this will be like the last time mapgen got "fixed" |
02:46 |
sdzen |
moving to the bigger better one always comes with a drawback |
02:46 |
sdzen |
which makes you kinda regret going over to it |
02:46 |
sdzen |
weighing pros and cons |
02:47 |
mauvebic |
well players like me (from the simcity days) like plain maps with terrain editing powers :p |
02:47 |
sdzen |
only difference is that due to the influx of people playing minetest |
02:47 |
sdzen |
its alot harder to come to terms |
02:47 |
mauvebic |
consensus |
02:47 |
mauvebic |
yeah |
02:47 |
sdzen |
so we need celeron to ignore us all again |
02:48 |
sdzen |
and then progress shall be made! |
02:48 |
mauvebic |
that doesnt work either, people bitch more lol |
02:48 |
sdzen |
well ignore us more :) |
02:48 |
sdzen |
if he ignores people |
02:48 |
berome |
lol |
02:48 |
sdzen |
why would he care about bitching |
02:48 |
mauvebic |
then need an odd number of people with pull and hold a democracy between them |
02:48 |
mauvebic |
*they need |
02:48 |
berome |
lol |
02:48 |
sdzen |
nope :) |
02:48 |

Menche |
is there any benefit to compiling to bytecode? |
04:05 |
VanessaE |
nonono not bytecode. |
04:05 |
VanessaE |
I mean actual machine code, which I guess LuaJIT does. |
04:05 |
Menche |
yeah |
04:05 |
VanessaE |
bytecode is pre-processed, tokenized pseudocode, which is faster to execute than the bare text, but isn't as fast as it can theoretically be |
04:06 |
Menche |
i know |
04:06 |
Menche |
lol |
04:07 |

hmmmm: did you try those two mods out? I suspect many other mods which hook into mapgen are affected similarly - their code is fast, but the engine is slow in propagating those changes to the client |

bytecode isn't that slow really |
04:13 |
VanessaE |
no, but machine code is of course way faster |
04:13 |
VanessaE |
bytecode still has to be interpreted. |
04:13 |
deivid |
I had to run a couple of test at my job and it was almost the same |
04:13 |
khonkhortisan |
natural language is much slower than programming text |
04:14 |
VanessaE |
I think I pissed hmmmm off.... :-) |
04:14 |
VanessaE |
or made his head explode :) |
04:14 |
deivid |
and some JIT interpreters optimize code at runtime so you don't need to rebuild with special flags |
04:16 |
Menche |
i compiled all the minetest lua files into bytecode. I didn't really notice that much difference. |
04:16 |
VanessaE |
that's because they get compiled to byte code at load time anyway. |
04:16 |
Menche |
but the mods were mostly just adding blocks |
04:16 |
Menche |
yeah, i figured that |
04:17 |
deivid |
what are the default (and minimum) resolution for textures? |
04:17 |
Menche |
default: 16x |
04:17 |
Menche |
no minimum or maximum |
04:17 |
Menche |
people have made 1x packs |
04:17 |
deivid |
does it impact performance significantly? |
04:18 |
VanessaE |
biggest I've seen is 1024px, my own HDX goes to 512px. |
04:18 |
deivid |
i'm making some changes to run the game smoother on my netbook |
04:18 |
Menche |
i tested my 4x4 and the default 16x16, there wasn't much difference on my netbook |
04:18 |
deivid |
reaches 35fps (atom n450) with rendering limited to a 'moderate' (mc) distance |
04:19 |
deivid |
and about 20fps on default settings |
04:19 |
Menche |
my netbook can get up to around there with 15-25 rendering distance |
04:19 |
Menche |
it varies wildly though |
04:21 |
Menche |
try disabling smooth_lighting, new_style_leaves,enable_clouds, and enabling opaque_water |
04:21 |
VanessaE |
also try turning on mipmapping/. |
04:21 |
VanessaE |
(but not filtering) |
04:21 |
VanessaE |
this can have some speed advantage on some chips, at the cost of memory. |
04:23 |
Menche |
I think the anisotropic filtering checkbox enables bi- or tri-linear filtering |
04:23 |
Menche |
everything blurs |
04:23 |
VanessaE |
no, it doesn't enable either of those, but for some folks it acts like it |
04:23 |
Menche |
at least on my netbook |
04:24 |
VanessaE |
which is odd, because it's supposed to only affect distant objects |
04:24 |
VanessaE |
*shrug* |
04:24 |
Menche |
oh, it doesn't have the sharp edges of bilinear filtering |
04:25 |
Menche |
mipmapping has sharp edges where it transitions, when anisotropic is off |
04:25 |
VanessaE |
yes |
04:25 |
VanessaE |
it's supposed to |
04:25 |
VanessaE |
that's what aniso fixes |
04:25 |
VanessaE |
why it gets blurry surely is a buggy video driver |
04:26 |
VanessaE |
because it doesn't do that for me unless I enable bi/trilinear filter. |
04:26 |
Menche |
could be the video driver? cause I also get weird artefacts occasionally |
04:26 |
Menche |
intel... |
04:26 |
VanessaE |
definitely the video driver then :-) |
04:26 |
sokomine |
i can't turn shaders on. those would be too much for my grapics card |
04:27 |
Menche |
same on my netbook, minetest looks like a slideshow with shaders on |
04:27 |
VanessaE |
I usually play with shaders off - they cost me fps on my card. |
04:27 |
sdzen |
I find that when I use it on my windows partition the ani is blurry |
04:27 |
VanessaE |
(aroudn 5 or 6 fps on average, which is quite visible when you're already down in the high 20s :-) ) |
04:27 |
sokomine |
hmpf :-) and i'm considering buying a intel with gpu...hd 4000 *looks* at least promising...(even a celeron would be slightly faster than what i've got now) |
04:28 |
sdzen |
haha :) |
04:28 |
deivid |

04:28 |
sdzen |
idk the celerons are rather odd |
04:28 |
VanessaE |
sokomine: get a HD6870. they're quite the beast but not too expensive as video cards go. |
04:28 |
VanessaE |
I'm happy with mine anyway |
04:28 |
sokomine |
about ~15 fsps is quite ok for mt. i'd like to play better on far though |
04:28 |
Menche |
my lower-end nvidia runs it at 60 |
04:28 |
Menche |
with shaders |
04:29 |
sokomine |
i don't want a dedicated card. the maximum i'd go for is a passive simple one i think... |
04:29 |
VanessaE |
why not? |
04:29 |
sokomine |
consumes power, generates heat |
04:29 |
VanessaE |
dedicated cards have the advantage of being replaceable if they crap out |
04:29 |
VanessaE |
that much is true actually |
04:30 |
VanessaE |
my 6870 draws about 100 watts. |
04:30 |
VanessaE |
when MT is running |
04:30 |
sokomine |
i could put a card into my machine and thus improve it greatly. but then i'd have to add usb 3.0 eventually and maybe a card for sata as well....it's getting time to upgrade...after almost 5 years by now |
04:31 |
sokomine |
urgs! no, i don't want that |
04:31 |
VanessaE |
or rather, it draws 100 watts more I mean |
04:31 |
deivid |
well, get a 7750 |
04:31 |
sokomine |
that's what my entire computer supposedly draws whne running mt... |
04:31 |
sokomine |
hm |
04:31 |
VanessaE |
at idle, my machine only draws like 170 watts |
04:31 |
sokomine |
"only" |
04:31 |
VanessaE |
(I have a meter on my UPS) |
04:31 |
VanessaE |
yes, "only" ;-) |
04:31 |

04:32 |
* sokomine |

04:32 |
VanessaE |
lol |
04:32 |
sokomine |
i'm not satisfied with the ~50 w mine draws. ought to be closer to ~20 to make me happy |
04:33 |
deivid |
undervolting may help |
04:33 |
sokomine |
perhaps. this was supposed to be a very power saving configuration :-( didn't work for me....maybe it really would have required undervolting |
04:33 |
VanessaE |
I don't fuck around when it comes to computers - a chick feels good about herself when she's in front of a big-cases power-sucking bastard that takes up half a square meter. :-) |
04:33 |
VanessaE |
oh also, of that 170W, about 90 is my monitors. |

VanessaE |
I presume a measure of milliseconds? |
05:21 |
hmmmm |
yup |
05:21 |
hmmmm |
that means on_generate is taking like three _seconds_ |
05:21 |
hmmmm |
i assume the "many more much lower numbers" are air blocks being generated |
05:21 |
hmmmm |
i didn't try out those mods, no, sorry... |
05:21 |
hmmmm |
i do believe you though |
05:22 |
VanessaE |
but did you look at the debug output from plants_lib? it races through each 5^3 chunk in way less than 1 seconds even with lots of trees being added |
05:22 |
VanessaE |
ok |
05:22 |
VanessaE |
that would be 'no' then ;) |
05:22 |

but it begs the question.. how the hell do you play minetest with it taking that long to generate a chunk |
05:22 |

that is insane |

I haven't deployed your fork to the server yet |
05:24 |
VanessaE |
oh? |
05:24 |
hmmmm |
anyway, in your config entry, set num_emerge_threads = 1, and then either remove the generate and diskonly limit lines, or set them to 5 and 1, respectively |
05:25 |
hmmmm |
then try it again and please tell me that at least it's not a regression from upstream |
05:25 |
VanessaE |
trying now. |
05:25 |
hmmmm |
i need to work out how on earth i'm going to account for mods taking _seconds_ to carry out their tasks |
05:26 |
hmmmm |
i'm probably going to end up not "fixing" this until i get a voxelmanipulator interface in lua and have mods do things outside of an envlock |
05:26 |
VanessaE |
hm. I think it's about equivalent to master with that setting now |
05:26 |
hmmmm |
of course it is! |

05:26 |

now here's a real test. |

05:30 |
hmmmm |
i'd say that's pretty good... |
05:31 |
hmmmm |
that's just me though |
05:31 |
VanessaE |
it took about 10 seconds after that before the map echoed back the change |
05:31 |
hmmmm |
so with those settings right there, do you give it the seal of approval? |
05:31 |
VanessaE |
now if I were to //load a huge building, the load time would be similar, but the time between finishing the load and seeing it appear would be MINUTES |
05:31 |
VanessaE |
even if the load only takes 20-30 seconds |
05:32 |
VanessaE |
yeah, I think with the current settings, we're looking at roughly the same performance as with master. |
05:32 |
VanessaE |
I need to deploy this to the server for more tests though. |

05:45 |
mauvebic |
true but as a drawtype, looks better as liquid than solid :p |
05:46 |
VanessaE |
true, heh |
05:46 |
VanessaE |
we need a "gaslike" draw type :-) |
05:46 |
mauvebic |
pipeworks can carry gasses, with tension/pressure |
05:46 |
VanessaE |
something that renders as sorta like a cloud |
05:46 |
hmmmm |
well i moved all emerge-related things to emerge.cpp, totally reworked the emerge thread queue |
05:46 |
Exio |
and somewhen a "plasmalike" draw type :D |
05:46 |
hmmmm |
then i made it multithreaded |
05:47 |
VanessaE |
that dissipates upwards and outwards, but which clings to the ground under gravity's influence |
05:47 |
mauvebic |
imagine : the plasma stream in a warp nacelle looks like a thunderbult :P |
05:47 |
mauvebic |
*bolt |
05:47 |
VanessaE |
hmmmm: ok, so this is basically where it was when you had me test it several days ago, where emergethread was nicely responsive |
05:47 |
VanessaE |
(other users on my server reported it being markedly more responsive than master) |
05:48 |
hmmmm |
serious!? |
05:48 |
VanessaE |
yup. |
05:48 |
hmmmm |
even with all those mods |
05:48 |
VanessaE |
yup |
05:48 |
hmmmm |
and you had the number of threads cranked up to 4 |
05:48 |
VanessaE |
but we're talking about already-generated areas |
05:48 |

05:48 |

05:48 |

ah |
05:48 |

several days ago, when you wanted me to check if emergethread was still locking up |
05:49 |
hmmmm |
i see |
05:49 |
mauvebic |
i need to try latest git, getting (28 FPS) on 0.4.4 lol |
05:50 |
mauvebic |
and not on any of my crappy computers lol |
05:50 |
Exio |
what computer? |
05:50 |
VanessaE |
hmmmm: if this is where that was on Fed. 14 (before that brief build failure), then this is definitely an improvement |
05:50 |
mauvebic |
this one is dualcore amd |
05:51 |
mauvebic |
next oldest is emachines netbook (n450), after that P4 :p |

05:52 |
VanessaE |
hmmmm: by the way, the inventory display is Unified Inventory. THIS is what creative mode should be by default, IMHO |
05:52 |
mauvebic |
n270 sounds like the netbook i had before, from Hp |
05:52 |
hmmmm |
i see |
05:53 |
mauvebic |
i like netbooks as cheap indepdentent computers, but the bloody batteries (most 3hrs) dont last long lol |

<hmmm> meh, I don't care |

06:02 |
Exio |
that mod is a lie |
06:02 |
MiJyn |
nice mod, but... the crafting...? |
06:02 |
mauvebic |
i think that mod is a plot by the north koreans |
06:02 |
jordan4ibanez |
Hey man, this doesn't depend on any other mods, so you tell me other things that are white and blue. xD |
06:02 |

:P |
06:02 |
MiJyn |
jordan4ibanez, okay lol |
06:03 |
VanessaE |
hmmmm: emergethread is *definitely* more responsive with your fork - to the point that I'm having trouble outrunning it now, at least for already-generated terrain |
06:03 |
MiJyn |
I can't wait to taste it (sand, dirt, papyrus, and paper... yummy!) |
06:03 |
jordan4ibanez |
Papyrus: sugar, dirt/sand: color, paper: color, water: color/ingredient :D |
06:03 |

you might want to create your own ingredients |

i'm glad that's the case at least |

most of the time, i wish we didn't have lua mods |

everything would be so much faaaaaaster |
06:07 |

but even with just moretrees + plants_lib? We both know those are quite fast |

06:08 |
hmmmm |
the tin and copper and stuff |
06:09 |
hmmmm |
can you make things with it? |
06:09 |
VanessaE |
I don't use them much, but some people build with them, e.g. gold, silver, etc blocks |
06:09 |
VanessaE |
I use the granite and obsidian blocks in technic |
06:09 |
VanessaE |
and the marble ones |
06:09 |

If you have technic, alloy them together in an alloy furnace. |

06:18 |
VanessaE |
now we just gotta work on making it go faster ;-) |
06:18 |
VanessaE |
but you've already got that under control |
06:18 |
VanessaE |
I'll keep working on finding ways to make my code faster also |
06:19 |
VanessaE |
maybe we need to seriously look into LuaJIT again |
06:19 |
NekoGloop |
My code doesn't have much that could even be slow. |
06:19 |
VanessaE |
then we won't be able to blame Lua for slow servers ;-) |
06:19 |
VanessaE |
NekoGloop: same for most of my code - only moretrees/plants_lib can theoretically be slow if misused |
06:20 |
NekoGloop |
There is like literally minimal lua behind my mods. |
06:20 |
VanessaE |
yup I know |
06:20 |
VanessaE |
about the only thing that could be slow about yours is the ore generation, since that's done entirely in Lua |
06:21 |
NekoGloop |
Well, you can blame default for that |
06:21 |
VanessaE |
hmmmm: a C++ implementation of that function would be of benefit, I think |

Not only will that make the hotbar primarily have what we want to have in it, the hotbar is displayed at the bottom of the screen. So the bottom slots in the inventory should be the hotbar. |
22:26 |
PilzAdam |
NekoGloop, what about new users? if they dont see the node they dugged in their hand they wont understand what to do next |
22:26 |

the problem is that most players are already used to this hotbar placement |
