many younger people seem to be able to handle games on phones very well. i'm always surprised how easily they seem to manage. even my cheap old phone can handle mt quite well. with a mouse and keyboard it might be quite usable :-) |

it's those dang young people. and android users do seem to be a decent chunk of the user base. it's just that..., you know... |

I often wonder if development of MT/MTG for Android might be better done completely on it's own (separate) but I am sure this has been discussed at length |

Hi guys, is there a better way to write this? https://pastebin.com/C17abiKX |
16:34 |
Krock |
Hello. Yes, by using tabs. |
16:35 |
IhrFussel |
I mean if there's a shorter way without so many conditions |
16:35 |
Krock |
and you're calling obj:get_luaentity() three times |
16:36 |
Krock |
if mobhp and modmhp and mobhp == mobmhp then |
16:36 |
rubenwardy |
wow, nice code readability there :) |
16:36 |
Krock |
rubenwardy, that's already been said |
16:36 |
rubenwardy |
so sorry |
16:37 |
Krock |
:P |
16:37 |
Krock |
also: if mobsclose >= 4 and obj:get_luaentity() then |
16:38 |
Krock |
respectively "and entity", to cache the returned value |
16:39 |
Krock |
also checking for "not is_player" is not required if you check get_luaentity for being non-nil |
16:39 |
IhrFussel |
Optimal now? https://pastebin.com/pQnWFb5S |
16:39 |
IhrFussel |
Oh ok |
16:42 |
Krock |
a bit shorter here: https://pastebin.com/raw/kqJuZyxQ |
16:42 |
Krock |
* if mobsclose >= 4 then -> if mobsclose >= 4 and ent then |
16:44 |
IhrFussel |
Final version: https://pastebin.com/N4T92XNG |
16:46 |
Krock |
I'd say that looks good.. test it. |
16:47 |
IhrFussel |
Does it make a difference whether or not the most important condition part is the first? Like if I tell lua to first "if mobsclose >= 4 and ..." is it a bit faster? |
16:49 |
Krock |
doesn't matter. reduce the C++ calls instead |
16:49 |
rubenwardy |
do the least expensive first, in most cases |
16:49 |
rubenwardy |
basically all languages do early exist |
16:50 |
rubenwardy |
ie: in `a and b` if a is true, b is never evaluated |
16:50 |
IhrFussel |
You mean or? xP |
16:53 |
Krock |
either he meant "or" or "false" |
