Is there a way to get an image from the internet and use it as a texture in a mod? |
01:16 |
jas_ |
at runtime, i suspect, only. |
01:16 |
jas_ |
i mean loadtime? lol |
01:16 |
jas_ |
but before you launch the server, anyway. can't change textures dynamically during the game? |
01:38 |
VanessaE |
rdococ: you can download text and render it to an entity image |
01:38 |
VanessaE |
so if you made that "text" a rendering language like the old ripscrip, that would work |
01:38 |
VanessaE |
but I don't *think* you can render-out a straight up image |
01:39 |
VanessaE |
one of cheapie's mods fetches text from the 'net (his website at least), and passes it to a Digilines LCD for display |
01:39 |
VanessaE |
since the display is an entity, the text is being rendered to an image just before it's displayed |
01:39 |
VanessaE |
so you CAN do what you want, in a very hacky way |
01:40 |
VanessaE |
(or for that matter I suppose you could also use, say, an abridged SVG implementation) |
01:41 |
VanessaE |
and come to think of it, you probably could straight-up render a downloaded image, but you'd have to write a complete decoder in Lua, and accept that you can't display it at its full detail and fidelity (e.g. less colors, less resolution) |
01:55 |

I also need new names for the gamemode with creative+damage, and the gamemode without either of those. |
23:22 |

In other words, there's creative, creative for daring people ("deadly"), survival, and survival for scaredy-cats ("management"). |

I doubt that a MT server with 30+ players can be "lag-free" ... I mean they also have quite a few mods |

CTF is ;) |

Okay 6 may be not normal, likely a buggy mod or wrong setting |

I'm currently trying to eliminate most of my server lag... I modified the profiler for that so it logs functions in realtime that take >5 ms to execute |
23:44 |
IhrFussel |
And so far it's mostly mesecons and mobs |
23:46 |
IhrFussel |
But I suspect there are more smaller mods that take more than 1 ms and that adds up per step |

WHich also triggered them to PM me that I need to read the rules |

ignore is must have on servers |

Ignore mods tend to block any further callbacks for register_on_chat_message() and I heavily rely on those callbacks so I cannot use them |
