So, Github has an annoying "feature" where it loses the last updated time from all PRs when your force push to master |
01:30 |

oh um |

not sure about 'left', see what they wrote in one of their WIP PRs |

recent slow dev is frustrating for contributors, so i can understand why some are drifting away |
01:38 |
paramat |
not saying that's the case with bendeutsch though, more generally |

!tell paramat i read your message about contributors loosing interest in their PR's. it would be nice to know who actively works on the game and who is "responsible" for what. That would make the whole thing a little more transparent IMO... |

rubenwardy: I just created a new category (Organisation) on the dev-wiki, did you have further plans with the moddingbook pages? mind if I collect the stub's and links into one page? |

I have no further plans, I didn't know how to delete them |

I see a bug in a mods hudbars and mana with them overlapping the user area below. The mods' author, Wuzzy, does not know the problem. Do you think it is with the mod or the minetest framework ? Here is an example. https://files.catbox.moe/sgqimc.png |
20:22 |
Daisae |
It happens with other users also, apparently. I tested with 2 DPI values and it made no difference. |
20:23 |
Wuzzy |
i have heard of the problem, many people were reporting it, but *I* was unable to reproduce it |
20:23 |
Wuzzy |
i have no idea if it really is hudbar's (=my) fault or not |
20:24 |
Wuzzy |
other people were coming from Windows and only report the bug for certain DPI values ... strange |
20:25 |
Krock |
Daisae: how about the application's compatibility options? What did you configure there regarding the scaling? |
20:25 |
Daisae |
I am seeing it on Xorg. |
20:25 |
Krock |
oof |
20:26 |
Daisae |
All 'scaling' options in minetest.conf had been unset/default. |
20:26 |
Krock |
using a recent irrlicht library, I assume? Shouldn't make a difference, though |
20:26 |
Daisae |
irrlicht 1.8.4 |
20:27 |
Krock |
same here |
20:28 |
Krock |
does it happen with a specific WM or for this machine? are there any similarities between the reported cases? |
20:28 |
Wuzzy |
Krock: did you ever had hudbars screw up the HUD? |
20:28 |
Krock |
Wuzzy: not sure. at least I don't remember any case. testing. |
20:29 |
Krock |
works with XFCE, Irrlicht 1.8.4, ~92 DPI |
20:29 |
Wuzzy |
try other DPI |
20:29 |
Wuzzy |
note most frequent bug reports come from windows ppl |
20:30 |
Daisae |
I tried configuring DPI=72 (the default) in minetest.conf. That made no difference. |
20:30 |
Krock |
dpi 62 made no difference |
20:30 |
Daisae |
I can try running with fullscreen=yes . , which bypasses at least some things of the WM. |
20:31 |
Wuzzy |
see latest forum posts for ppl reporting these offset problems: |
20:31 |
Wuzzy |
https://forum.minetest.net/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=11153&start=150 |
20:31 |
Daisae |
It will take me away longer because I can not switch to IRC then. |
20:31 |
Krock |
according to the docs, screen_dpi does not have any effect on xorg |
20:31 |
Krock |
Alt-Tab? |
20:33 |
Daisae |
Krock: What about alt-tab? If I do fullscreen=yes then alt-tab and virtual workspaces are unavailable. |
20:35 |
Krock |
ah okay. til. |
20:36 |
Wuzzy |
Daisae: does it happen if you disable mana? |
20:40 |
Wuzzy |
so, Krock, given that this HUDBARS problem appears to only occur to some people and not some other people, do you think it is far-fetched to believe the fault might be in Minetest, not hudbars? |
20:41 |
Wuzzy |
i can't find a logical explanation why it would be triggered by the mod. i don't even have access to dpi setting as modder, haven't i? |
20:42 |
Krock |
it's surely a HUD issue. If the C++ minimap is not affected by these offsets, then it's a Minetest HUD problem. Otherwise it's irrlicht |
20:42 |
Daisae |
It remains the same even with fullscreen=true , filtering and shaders disabled. |
20:42 |
Wuzzy |
thx |
20:42 |
Daisae |
usully i have anisotropic filters + shaders. |
20:42 |
Krock |
the HUD uses values from -1 to 1 so you don't have to care about DPI |
20:43 |
Krock |
but apparently the offsets are scaled differently, depending on its type |
20:43 |
Daisae |
Krock: have you tried HUD bars with tis irrlicht? |
20:43 |
Krock |
i.e. statbars are different to images |
20:44 |
Krock |
"tis"' |
20:44 |
Daisae |
this |
20:44 |
Krock |
what do you mean by that? |
20:44 |
Daisae |
version 1.8.4 |
20:44 |
Daisae |
I know you have that version, but not whether you tried HUDbars with it. |
20:45 |
Krock |
tested it around when I said <Krock> dpi 62 made no difference |
20:49 |
Daisae |
Is the selection of Anisotropic ignored/unused if 'Texturing: No Filter' is selected ? |
20:53 |
Daisae |
Wuzzy: It is the same problem, even if Mana is disabled. |
