15:24 Fixer_ any ubuntu people? i've heared low fps in games for unity was caused by a bug and it was fixed and games should run with 2xbigger fps now
15:24 Fixer_ https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity/+bug/987304
15:24 * sfan5 uses ubuntu 12.04
15:25 * brobostigon uses debian sid/unstable
15:25 Fixer_ it is unity bug
15:26 brobostigon so it was related to how it access's the graphics, as unity uses opengl, and so does minetest ?
15:26 Fixer_ dunno, read the bug
15:26 brobostigon ok.
15:26 sfan5 minetest -> opengl , unity (not sure) -> opengl
15:26 Fixer_ unity is OGL
15:26 Fixer_ i mean compiz and compiz uses OGL
15:27 brobostigon agreed, yes.
15:27 Fixer_ so under the latest unity it will run much faster
15:27 brobostigon similer improvements were made in gnome-shell also.
15:28 Fixer_ nice
15:28 brobostigon yes, it is almost [erfect now, compared to when i first tried it a few years ago now.
15:28 brobostigon perfect*
15:29 Fixer_ i've tried it on fedora and it worked fine on intel
15:29 Fixer_ gnome is not bad if you like hotkeys :}
15:29 Fixer_ but i'm looking for xfce 4.10
15:29 brobostigon i have tried gnome-shell on two machines, my mums nvidia, and my eeepc. and worked brilliently.
15:30 brobostigon Fixer_: i like, not having to constantly move from mouse to keyboard and back and forth all the time, unless i have to. and i can do most things here in gnome3 keyboard alone.

17:49 art hi
17:49 brobostigon hi art
17:49 Calinou hi, art
17:49 Calinou you're so beautiful!
17:49 Calinou why don't you come in #minetest, too? o,o
17:49 art hehe
17:49 art ;]
17:50 art i have 2 questions
17:50 Calinou yes?
17:51 art 1. can somebody explain me some part of code ..
17:51 art i thing it was graphic core function but im not sure ..
17:51 Calinou <art> 1. can somebody explain me some part of code ..
17:51 Calinou not really; no "capable" coders are on right now :P
17:52 marktraceur Calinou: I'm hurt!
17:52 Calinou celeron55 isn't here, he's taking a break from MT again.
17:52 Calinou marktraceur, maybe you
17:52 Calinou :P
17:52 marktraceur art: If you have a question, ask it, we'll do what we can
17:52 Calinou do you know MT code well?
17:52 Calinou and what's your second question?
17:52 marktraceur Calinou: A little. I think I might know what he's asking
17:54 art 2. i have some expirience in C++ dev and i'm bored ;] is there something to do for poor quality programer ? :D
17:56 art and about code .... i want to understand how is painting "staff" (exp torches) works ..
17:56 art its all pretty clear to 1 point ..
17:57 marktraceur art: For #2: https://github.com/celeron55/minetest/issues
17:57 marktraceur If you'd like to work on some bugs :)
17:58 Calinou suggestions: clientside particles, 3D models
17:58 Calinou boats/minecarts :3
17:58 Calinou MOBS
17:58 Calinou (if you plan on making these things, do not do these entirely in lua. this is why "animals" mod is so slow)
17:58 art yep i was trying to 3D thing ..
17:58 marktraceur Calinou: art appears to be asking for a *simple* project, not a two-month thing :P
17:59 Calinou art, /msg or /tell command? private messages
17:59 art marktraceur: have the point ..
17:59 Calinou simple, useful
17:59 art i have only 2-3 hours per day ;]
17:59 Calinou a PM command shouldn't take long; maybe you can do it in lua
17:59 jordach joined #minetest-delta
18:00 jordach art, you rang
18:00 marktraceur Ha
18:00 marktraceur art, jordach is thinking for working on a fork of minetest
18:00 Calinou which sucks
18:00 Fixer_ left #minetest-delta
18:00 jordach Calinou, Y U HATE EVERYTHING
18:01 Calinou it's like if he took linux kernel 1.0 and said "let's make something with it"
18:01 marktraceur I thought he might be able to more effectively use your talents, since the current state of minetest proper is "ehhhhh we don't accept patches for anything"
18:01 q66[mac] joined #minetest-delta
18:02 marktraceur art, these two have been around each other too much :) in short, if you want to work on the latest minetest, you should; but your patches may not be accepted for a very long time. If that's OK with you, either way works fine.
18:02 q66 joined #minetest-delta
18:02 jordach marktraceur, you remember 0.2 minetest-delta?
18:02 art_ joined #minetest-delta
18:02 marktraceur jordach: Not really, I think I came in after the 0.3 release
18:02 jordach that everyone was forking it and playing with it
18:02 Calinou celeron55 is taking a break as I said ;)
18:02 Calinou so he can't really accept patches for now
18:02 jordach Calinou, bleeding edge will kill you
18:03 jordach art_ see this post for more data http://minetest.net/forum/viewtopic.php?id=2287
18:03 art_ ok sorry i have limited acces to internet
18:03 jordach thats ok art_ ive seen worse
18:03 art_ i will thing about this PM's
18:04 jordach well, mail me
18:04 marktraceur Calinou: I really like the current implementation of Minetest. I like 0.4. I like the Lua API. But jordach has a valid approach, and it might be a more interesting way for art_ to get involved in the project, if he can get immediate feedback.
18:04 jordach art_, we are using bitbucket
18:04 jordach (with git, not mercurial, or whatever they offer)
18:04 art_ o0
18:05 art_ why not github ?
18:05 art_ ;D
18:05 jordach art_, free private repos
18:05 art_ is that so ? i thing i will change for it as well .. ;D
18:06 jordach marktraceur, remember the big hoo haa about blockplanet? mine will actually do the things it said (no offense tank, lkjoel and sfan)
18:06 Calinou 0.4 is great, a bit slower
18:06 Calinou people need to quit their 10 year old computer
18:06 Calinou <art_> ok sorry i have limited acces to internet
18:06 Calinou as in slow, or limited bandwidth?
18:06 jordach Calinou, fyi: if crysis 2 gets 40+ fps that STFU
18:06 marktraceur Calinou: My 8-year-old computer is running marktraceur.info:30000 :)
18:06 * Calinou has 2.4/0.4 mbits connection - welcome to my club
18:06 Calinou marktraceur, o,o
18:06 Calinou MT servers are light
18:06 Calinou 40MB of RAM per player (tested)
18:07 marktraceur (and people for whatever reason think it's really fast, do not understand)
18:07 Calinou :]
18:07 art_ as not daily acces .. im using connection in work ;)
18:07 Calinou k
18:07 Calinou gtg
18:07 art_ about my earlier question ..
18:07 marktraceur art_: Yes?
18:07 art_ S3DVertex(f32 x, f32 y, f32 z, f32 nx, f32 ny, f32 nz, SColor c, f32 tu, f32 tv)
18:08 art_ x ,y ,z are cordinates in environment
18:08 art_ c is a color of course ..
18:09 art_ but what the other staff ?
18:09 art_ nx ny nz ? and tu tv ?
18:10 darkrose tu/v would be texture u/v coordinates
18:10 art_ this class is used for painting textures on world colector ..
18:10 marktraceur art_: My guess would be that the first six values indicate the minimum and maximum points
18:11 marktraceur If you think about a rectangular prism, you can define all of its dimensions with only the minimum and maximum points
18:11 marktraceur For a torch, nx and so on would only be 1 over, I think
18:12 marktraceur Maybe 2
18:12 art_ video::S3DVertex(-BS/2,-BS/2,BS/8, 0,1,0, c,                         ap.x0(), ap.y1()),                 video::S3DVertex(BS/2,-BS/2,BS/8, 0,1,0, c,                         ap.x1(), ap.y1()),                 video::S3DVertex(BS/2,BS/2,BS/8, 0,1,0, c,                         ap.x1(), ap.y0()),                 video::S3DVertex(-BS/2,BS/2,-BS/8, 0,1,0, c,                         ap.x0(), ap.y0()),
18:12 art_ omg ..
18:12 art_ sory ..
18:12 marktraceur It's cool
18:12 jordach pastebin.com please
18:12 art_ i will send it to pastebin
18:13 art_ http://pastebin.com/k9Qp3Na3
18:13 art_ it's part of painting texture of torch
18:15 art_ but why is there 4 vectors ? when this texture is only 2D ?
18:15 darkrose oh right, n* are normals
18:16 art_ normals ?
18:16 art_ can u say somthing more about it ?
18:16 NakedFury you plan to make the torch 3d?
18:17 art_ that was primary idea but .. right now i just curies ;D
18:17 art_ how its working
18:18 darkrose https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Surface_normal
18:19 art_ ok thx ... that's explain everything ..
18:23 art_ so... going back to 3D stuff like torches and sign's etc.. are they done already or not ?
18:24 jordach technically, yes
18:24 NakedFury with lua nodeboxes
18:24 art_ lua ?
18:25 art_ heh ..
18:25 NakedFury they were made 3d with mods
18:25 art_ nevermid... i will try to do PM's it should'n be hard

18:48 Calinou ._.
18:49 Calinou he's going to contribute to jordach's free minecraft
18:49 * Calinou hopes it will never be popular anyway
18:49 jordach Calinou, you read it wrong
18:49 jordach MOBS CAN BE OMMITTED
18:49 jordach and secondly, we want to milk as much performance as we can, without using a single sse

20:09 jordach does any one have the source to minetest 0.2
20:09 jordach and run it with celerons buildbot.sh
20:29 VanessaE why not branch off 0.3 instead?
20:29 VanessaE or early 0.4 before mobs were nuked?
20:30 jordach VanessaE, we are trying to work out of the buildbot is adding something to the game that forces a game close
20:30 jordach from the past, it compiles fine
20:30 VanessaE ohh
20:38 jordach i need as many buildbot builds as possible
20:39 jordach because we plan on making a very quick version of minetest]
