00:50 Fritigern Oh, switching to texture paint mode also appears to apply the texture

02:02 LazyJ DI3HARD139, do mean how to embed the images into a forum post so they are displayed as images instead of linked files?
02:04 DI3HARD139 I mean in the form where you have to click a drop tab instead of cluttering the whole page
02:05 LazyJ Ah. That's a "spoiler". Checking how it's done...

02:12 sofar print(5 and 2) -> 2 (WTF? TWO?)
02:12 LazyJ yw ;)
02:27 Fritigern sofar: Perhaps print(5 & 2) ?
02:27 GhostDoge sofar: it's bit.band(5,2) in luajit
02:28 Fritigern And I have just found this, may be of future use as well: http://lua-users.org/wiki/BitwiseOperators
02:36 sofar what if I don't have luajit?
02:36 sofar is bit.band() still there?
02:36 hyrden joined #minetest
02:36 hyrden hi
02:39 GhostDoge sofar: lua 5.1 doesn't have built in bitwise functions
02:39 GhostDoge only luajit has
02:40 * sofar boos
02:40 Fritigern sofar: Have a look at the link that I pasted. You may be able to find something that matches your setup
02:40 sofar I've been reading that website too, but it's unclear to me what we have available in minetest
02:40 sofar ohhhhh flip normals
02:45 Fritigern So apparrently, lua 5.1 had no built-in bitwise operatis, but 5.2 does.
02:50 * Fritigern wonders if he can switch to 5.2 with impunity

10:25 Megaf Before VACUUM on my map.sqlite 3951 MB
10:25 Megaf After VACUUM on my map.sqlite 3846 MB
10:25 Megaf not sure if that is significant
10:31 Krock Before DEL on my map.sqlite 3951 MB
10:31 Krock After DEL on my map.sqlite 0 MB
10:32 Megaf Krock: sounds like a huge improvement, how did you accomplish such thing?
10:32 Megaf It's almost like the database is no longer there
10:32 Krock Yes, that's the downside of using that method
10:34 Megaf Krock: I think some of the players might get upset
10:35 Krock Megaf, maybe, yes.
10:44 LazyJ The longer Minetest worlds are around, the larger they will become. If Minetest can't handle large databases well enough for game play, then perhaps the size of the world should be limited much, much smaller.
10:44 Krock there's already a worldedge mod and settings in minetest.conf
10:45 LazyJ Too new still.
10:45 LazyJ It will take time and experimentation to figure-out what is a reasonable size.
10:45 Megaf I'm happy with the current size of world, it could be larger in my opinion, much larger
10:46 fusion44 joined #minetest
10:46 Megaf but the database storage could be more efficient and VACUUM enabled by default
10:47 LazyJ One of my old contacts was going on about how Minetest doesn't do something well about writing to the database. But he was talking in terms way over my head so I couldn't understand well enough to remember what it was that he saw.
10:48 Megaf what was it?
10:48 LazyJ Growing pains.
10:48 LazyJ idk.
10:48 LazyJ I couldn't understand what he was saying.
10:49 LazyJ Too advanced for me.
10:51 LazyJ t4im was telling me that LG's spawn area had too many vertices going on.
10:51 LazyJ That's another age related problem.
10:52 LazyJ I don't understand vertices either but I do know what Spawntown is like above and below ground.
10:52 LazyJ Has something to do with the amount of exposed surfaces.
10:53 LazyJ Above ground there are a lot of builds with many different slopes and nodeboxes as well as flowing lava, flowing water, and other animations.
10:53 LazyJ Below ground is Swiss cheese with mine shafts and tunnels and plenty of stuff in those.
10:54 LazyJ All accumulated in about three years time.
10:55 LazyJ When Minetest was created, what was the expected life span of a Minetest server? Months?
10:56 Megaf hm
10:56 Megaf well, my spawn has a very complex system of tunnels indeed
10:56 LazyJ Who knew it would last as long as it has and grow as much as it has?

11:04 Megaf three actually

22:13 Fritigern H-H-H: Have a look at http://krock-works.16mb.com/MTstuff/modSearch.php and search for carts mods
22:14 H-H-H thanks guys :)
22:16 Fritigern I use that page all the time when looking for new stuffs. I also use it to find updates for my mods, for example, I can;t just keep track of all the mods that I have, so every now and then I search for example for "3d_torch" and see if a new one is out.

22:18 H-H-H word of advice lol dont start a tunnel boring machine up in your basement lol it makes a bit of a mess hahaha
22:19 H-H-H ty Fritigerm i have bookmarked that page as another resource for mods
22:20 fireglow nice site, yeap
22:21 H-H-H i just found a wierd bug with rails
22:21 Fritigern Which cats mod?
22:21 Fritigern *carts
22:21 H-H-H if you break them then you can pick them up but if you break them by placing sand or gravel or water on them then you cant pick them up
22:22 H-H-H now your asking i think the rails are from base game tbh but dont quote me
22:22 Fritigern IIRC the base game does not have rails/carts.
22:23 H-H-H it does
22:24 H-H-H i just loaded up a new world with no mods enabled and in creative searched for rails and they are there
22:24 Fritigern A new indev mod adds new rails and improves the carts. Have a look at hicarts
22:25 H-H-H now looking at them :)
22:28 Fritigern You were right about the rails being in the base game (couldn;t find carts though) and I have just placed those default tracks on sand, broke the sand underneath and picked the rails up just fine
22:30 H-H-H hmmm wierdness might just be a wierd glitch then :) im not overly worried about it but will double check again for my own sanity lol
22:32 H-H-H thanks for looking though
22:44 H-H-H btw Fritigerm try placing sand on top of those default rails and then try picking them up
22:49 Fritigern Wil try that now!
22:50 H-H-H its probly just something screwed my end
22:50 Fritigern Sorr, it just works for me.

23:30 sofar they may behave a bit weirdly due to the way they work
23:33 sofar https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GCGA0LFvi0
23:33 sofar Doors made with mesh nodes
23:37 sofar https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GCGA0LFvi0g (sorry, bad link)
23:39 Fixer sofar, both trapdoors has limited rotation positions, i can't make it open from up to down for example
23:39 sofar that should be possible
23:39 sofar place it first
23:39 sofar then rotate it right-click
23:40 Fixer give me as ec
23:40 sofar don't open it until it's int he right place
23:40 Fixer right click with screwdriver?
23:40 sofar yes
23:41 Fixer does not work

23:41 Fixer let me show what i want on a screen
23:41 sofar what version of minetest_game do you have?
23:41 behalebabo joined #minetest
23:43 Fixer sofar, one with your steel trapdoor or little newer
23:43 Fixer sofar, https://i.imgur.com/eT2VuHN.png i want that wooden trapdoor to be adjacent to that upper block
23:43 sofar hmmm
23:44 Fixer both trapdoors lack rotation position that stairs have
23:45 sofar drawtype = facedir
23:45 sofar weird
23:46 Fixer sofar, trapdoors use only 50% of possible positions, looks like
23:49 Fixer sofar, for example, it is impossible to make them as horizontal window shutters (90 deg horizontal rotation)
23:51 Fixer sofar, probably that was already requested here: https://github.com/minetest/minetest_game/issues/545
23:51 sofar honestly I thought it was possible already
23:52 sofar sign me up, I'll gladly look at that later
23:52 sofar already looking at doors anyway, and doing a major cleanup
23:52 Fixer good luck with that
