00:12 sfan5 you can choose between the issues 5.9 has or the ones 5.8.1 has. what else do you expect to happen?
00:23 MTDiscord <luatic> sfan5: if i understand correctly, she's complaining about having this problem that wasn't there before even after downgrading, suggesting part of the problem somehow persisted. i don't yet have an idea as to how that could happen. clearing app data after doing a backup should probably be considered.
00:24 MTDiscord <luatic> @ineva_ (ping on the discord size): have you tried this (last sentence)?
00:25 MTDiscord <warr1024> uninstalling the app on android should clear the app data already...?
00:28 MTDiscord <luatic> it seems to be messier than this: https://support.google.com/android/thread/225253315/uninstalling-apps-delete-cache-data?hl=en, i definitely vaguely remember data persisting (though it's been a while since i've used my phone in a significant capacity)
00:29 MTDiscord <luatic> more helpful (more accurate?) resource: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/70290806/android-uninstall-app-vs-clear-all-data-not-only-cache
00:29 MTDiscord <luatic> well we do have android:allowBackup="false" so there shouldn't be an issue 🤔
00:30 MTDiscord <warr1024> Ah, I see, that makes more sense.
00:30 MTDiscord <luatic> okay no that SO post is about a slightly different thing, i misread that
00:31 MTDiscord <warr1024> It will always delete all the internal data from your device, BUT if you have a backup, it might restore it automatically upon reinstall, it sounds like...
00:32 MTDiscord <warr1024> Well, if somebody can get the app into a broken state that deleting data would fix, then we could prove whether reinstalling clears the data pretty easily at that point by trying it both ways.

17:59 MockingMoniker Krock: I still get the warning. So, you're saying that it's failing for a different reason? Maybe it's a flatpak issue?

18:15 Krock MockingMoniker: yesterday it was an error, today a warning. What exactly do you need to solve? Does Minetest not start?

18:37 MockingMoniker Krock: it doesn't start.
18:38 Guest75 joined #minetest
18:38 MockingMoniker I'm thinking it was a red herring. I saw the warning and thought that it was why it failed to start. Now I'm suspecting a Flatpak issue, as in Flatpak itself is doing something wrong. I'm new to Flatpak.
18:38 Krock MockingMoniker: have you yet tried to disable all the sandboxing stuff e.g. with the Flatseal app?
18:38 Krock (disable only for Minetest)
18:40 MockingMoniker I will try that.
18:43 Guest77 joined #minetest
18:45 MockingMoniker I don't see any options in Flatseal for Minetest referring to any sandboxing. Either that or what I would imagine to qualify as sandboxing settings is different from what is there.
18:46 MockingMoniker Wait, it just launched.
18:46 MockingMoniker You fixed it. Thanks.
19:02 Guest25 joined #minetest
19:03 MockingMoniker I odn't know what fixed it.
19:04 MockingMoniker I enabled the failback to the X11 window system. I think that fixed it. Not sure.
19:04 Guest75 joined #minetest
19:06 MTDiscord <luatic> Yeah, 5.9.0 has no proper Wayland support, because that requires SDL and SDL was disabled last minute. It seems the Flatpak maintainers might not have caught wind of this.
19:07 sfan5 (we have commit access to the flatpak repo)

19:18 MockingMoniker I run X11, not Wayland.
19:18 MTDiscord <luatic> MockingMoniker: that was the point
19:19 ireallyhateirc keyloggers don't work on Wayland :(
19:19 MTDiscord <luatic> but it seems our flatpak does set --socket=x11
19:23 Mantar lots of things don't work on Wayland last I tried :D

22:15 MockingMoniker I did apply that previous suggestion to disable shaders in the file, but maybe it had no effect. I'll remove it and test.
22:24 MockingMoniker Nope. I removed it and the game still starts.
22:24 MockingMoniker I'm going to untoggle that one thing and test.
22:26 MockingMoniker Nope.
22:26 MockingMoniker Maybe just opening it in Flatseal fixes it.
22:26 MockingMoniker Maybe it depends on some config file that Flatseal will generate.
