Does anyone know of a Win32 build of MT 5.x that will run on Windows XP and doesn't require SSE2? (SSE "1" is fine, -march=athlon-xp would be ideal) |
02:33 |
cheapie |
It's not a big deal if there isn't one, I'm just curious if it's even possible to run MT on this thing. |

I *did* manage to find a 0.4.12 build that would, and it actually wasn't anywhere near as bad as expected with a remote server. |

hey all |
03:59 |
swift110 |
whats the lowest specced device you guys are playing minetest on? |
04:00 |
epoch |
I played on a Dell Latitude D610 |
04:01 |
cheapie |
swift110: I had 0.4.12 running on an Athlon XP 2200+ :P |
04:01 |
epoch |
but it was a little painful. like, closest fog distance, nothing fancy, no clouds, and still like, 10 fps. |
04:02 |
epoch |
and that was 0.4.16 probably |
04:02 |
epoch |
not sure if 5.anything would be better or worse. |
04:02 |
cheapie |
I would try newer, but I haven't found any Win32 builds newer than 0.4.12 that don't need SSE2. |
04:02 |
cheapie |
0.4.12 actually ran okayish, as long as I didn't host the server on the same machine. |
04:03 |
epoch |
I was using linux, so didn't have any extra windows overhead |
04:03 |
cheapie |
I should set this thing up to dual-boot at some point. |
04:04 |
epoch |
and it wasn't just any linux, it was, non-GUI, installed X11, set minetest as the only thing in ~/.xinitrc |

04:10 |
epoch |
it was... last year? |
04:10 |
swift110 |
cheapie, wow |
04:10 |
swift110 |
epoch, oh cool which distro |
04:10 |
epoch |
I was using debian |
04:10 |
swift110 |
oh cool |

I have Bunsenlabs on the machine which is based on Debian |
04:10 |

Not sure why it says 1GHz, it's 1.8 :/ |
04:11 |
swift110 |
oh wow windows xp |
04:11 |
* cheapie |
nods |
04:11 |
cheapie |
It's supposed to be a 2003-ish themed build. |
04:11 |
cheapie |
The video card is admittedly a little out of place, but not by all that much. |
04:12 |
swift110 |
oh wow |
04:12 |
swift110 |
I got 2 gb ram in the dell as well |
04:13 |
cheapie |
The old video card I had in it was an ATI Rage XL... that thing was *SLOW*. |
04:13 |
cheapie |
Like maybe 1 FPS at most in The Sims 2 with low details. This one does 20-30 FPS with medium settings. |
04:14 |
cheapie |
2D performance is also massively faster. |

Ok I built a warehouse in one world. so I liked it so well that I went into world edit and saved the warehouse as a warehouse.we file. Then I copyed the scheme folder over to my new world. When I tryed to load the warehouse into the new world it says file cannot be loaded. |

Also, git issues have no concept of "bumps", so consider #2813 and how it's close to 5 years old. Even though it's active again, you still have to search for it or have it bookmarked. |

yes, and I can't even have separate hair for them because of this BUG which is old enough to walk and demand you buy it new toys |

hecks: the name is sorta misleading, but it is the same issue (as far as I can see) |
21:55 |

the issue here is that the model gets reloaded when properties change, causing stuff to be reset |

all these issues should probably be merged into one mega-bug but github won't let you do that will it |
