I'm trying to log into a server that has password set to false, and I keep being told invalid password. I've tried with and without entering a password, and also tried updating to the latest nightly build of v5. It's Sara's Simple Survival Server - the second from the bottom on http://servers.minetest.net/ |
03:38 |
Dr_Frankenstone |
Is there a known issue in this area? |
03:41 |
Dr_Frankenstone |
The server lists its version as 5.0.1, while my client says 5.1.0 |
03:42 |
sofar |
you mean, 5.1.0-dev? |
03:45 |
|
Fusl joined #minetest |
03:45 |
Dr_Frankenstone |
it's followed by a git hash rather than "dev", but yeah |
03:45 |
Dr_Frankenstone |
I was trying with a -dev version that was months old before |
03:46 |
cheapie |
Well, does the username you're trying to use already have a password set there? |
03:47 |
Dr_Frankenstone |
No, I tried a new username as well. The data on the server from servers.minetest.net says "password": false, so I suspect it isn't supposed to need one, but I don't really know what password=false means. |
03:53 |
Dr_Frankenstone |
Just tested with 5.0.1, same deal. Strange. I think the server is working because I've have seen it listed with clients connected to it. |
03:53 |
scr267 |
Which server is that? I've got a 5.xx client to I can test with. |
03:53 |
scr267 |
5.0.0-dev actually |
03:53 |

5.0.1 and 5.1.0-dev are compatible, there shouldn't be any difference |

I get the same error. |
03:54 |
sofar |
could be a server failure/issue |
03:54 |

03:55 |

yeah, perhaps when I saw clients connected they were local, or special somehow |

Calinou seems to have stopped creating AppImages for minetest, so I decided to make my own for 5.0.1 and 5.1-dev. You can download them here: https://github.com/An0n3m0us/Minetest-AppImages |

nice :) you shouldn't commit build artifacts to GitHub though, use GitHub Releases for that instead |

lllI1I, there's minetest.register_on_dieplayer |
20:24 |
lllI1I |
calcul0n: will I be able to stop the normal death with that? |
20:24 |
lllI1I |
as in the "you died" formspec |
20:25 |

if I wanted to e.g. teleport the player to a respawning waiting room for a short period before letting them get back in the game |

iirc the "you died" formspec is just the default handler, so you can override it |
20:28 |

I looked in the source and it looked like the death handling was done in C++ and is only overrideable when client side scripting is enabled? |
20:28 |

but I don't know for sure |

same here, i only have vague memories playing with it :) |
20:33 |

but i think what you want is possible even if you can't override the formspec |
20:34 |
lllI1I |
yeah I was going to have a check on hpchange and if it would be fatal, refill the health and teleport the player |
20:34 |
lllI1I |
as well as emulating the bones drop, which I'll have to do with a hacky copypaste nightmare |
20:35 |
lllI1I |
would anyone object if I made the bones mod expose its bonedropping function globally |
20:35 |
lllI1I |
and submitted that as a patch |
20:42 |
Worldblender |
I think I'm going to have to determine all this on my own, without anyone's help on how to build a frontend to player_api... |
20:43 |
