I have not compiled MT in a long time. Tonight '+=' won't compile. If I comment the line I add it compiles fine. I don't know much about C++... Why is '+=' not working? |

Is there a regex pattern i can use to find out which players just send a bunch of empty chars so that their message will appear as 2nd line as anothers name? |

14:31 |

The whole domain *inchra.net seems unreachable in fact. You can still use VanessaE's domain name to reach the irc network though. |
14:32 |
JohnWD |
So IP don't work guess I tried.. |
14:33 |
JohnWD |
Hm, what one of VE's? due I think she has 3 |
14:38 |
JohnWD |
ElectronLibre: What domain of Vanessa's? |
14:38 |
ElectronLibre |
digitalaudioconcepts.com:6697 (SSL) |
14:38 |
VanessaE |
you should use daconcepts.com in the future |
14:38 |
VanessaE |
one of these days, I'm gonna discontinue the longer domain |
14:38 |
JohnWD |
Ok. |
14:39 |
ElectronLibre |
Thanks for the warning VanessaE. I'll change the hostname as soon as possible in MFF's configuration files. |
14:39 |
VanessaE |
as for inchra.net, it's just expired again, is all. already poked at ShadowNinja about it |
14:40 |
ElectronLibre |
Indeed. We had the same issues last year at the same period. |
14:40 |
sfan5 |
why not just register the domain for longer? |
14:40 |
VanessaE |
sfan5: ask lmartin or ShadowNinja :P |
14:41 |
JohnWD |
Well I tried this IP "198.27.68.162" a error.. |
14:42 |
ElectronLibre |
Until the domain name is back VanessaE, I hope your server will handle slightly more connections than usual (I'm not really worried). |
14:42 |
VanessaE |
it should be fine |
14:42 |
VanessaE |
hell, the minetest servers have seen a major uptick over the past 24 hours, without any issue |
14:42 |
JohnWD |
Yeah, Inchra #minetest hardly used be |
14:44 |
JohnWD |
It used be drama, fights, kaos, servers everywhere. But that sure changed. |
14:45 |

hi VanessaE |

JohnWD: I checked with telnet a few minutes ago, it works |
14:48 |
JohnWD |
Hm.. I'm getting a error huh |
14:49 |

What kind of error? |
14:50 |
JohnWD |
Connection |
14:50 |
ElectronLibre |
Connection refused? |
14:50 |
Krock |
Connection connected? |
14:51 |
Krock |
no, that wouldn't be an error guess |
14:51 |
ElectronLibre |
I don't think it would be an error either |
14:51 |
kahrl |
error 0: Success |
14:51 |
ElectronLibre |
^ Or it could be one of that kind |
14:51 |
JohnWD |
It just says Error Connecting (ERROR) |
14:52 |
* JohnWD |
Wonder can Kiwi IRC Blacklist a IRC Server |
14:52 |
ElectronLibre |
Can you open a terminal and test with something similar to telnet? |
14:53 |
ElectronLibre |
If it's just a connection error, you don't need to know the registration commands of the IRC protocol to see if you can reach the machine. |
14:53 |
ElectronLibre |
(also don't use irc.daconcepts.com just daconcepts.com ; in case you made the mistake) |
14:55 |
JohnWD |
Could not resolve hostname |
14:56 |

15:01 |
JohnWD |
Could I been K-Line without knowing it.. Or my ISP blocking it.. |

No, otherwise you would still be able to resolve the hostname |

by default there can only be 49 objects per block before some are deleted, that includes players |
21:23 |
IhrFussel |
behalebabo, yes you're right... it says in the log "2016-05-28 22:31:10: ERROR[Server]: ServerEnv: Trying to store id=31989 statically but block (-18,0,9) already contains 8 objects. Forcing delete." around the time when peers disconnect |
21:24 |
IhrFussel |
I reduced it to 8 cause i thought it would make the server faster |
21:24 |
Fixer |
IhrFussel: nuh, don't reduce it, leave it default, do /clearobjects |
21:24 |
behalebabo |
Well that's your problem then |
21:24 |
IhrFussel |
So more objects won't slowdown the server much? |
21:25 |
behalebabo |
It's worse to have players randomly kicked out than to have a slow server |
21:26 |
IhrFussel |
Okay and this setting is okay? max_packets_per_iteration = 100 |
21:27 |

I read somewhere it should be at least expected players * 2 |

dont mess with too many internal settings or everything will break |
21:28 |
sfan5 |
why do you need to change the default value? |
21:29 |
IhrFussel |
Cause my v server isn't the most expensive out there...i figured i'd need to tweak some things for it to run smoothly |
21:29 |
sfan5 |
how are the specs? |
21:30 |
IhrFussel |
model name: Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2680 v2 @ 2.80GHz 2 - 4 GB RAM (varies) |
21:31 |
sfan5 |
that sounds like more than enough to run minetest servers |
21:33 |
IhrFussel |
Okay well i think 49 objects per block would be a bit overkill though..i'll try with 30 for now |
21:34 |
IhrFussel |
I didn't know the game starts dropping players cause of objects... who would guess those are even connected |
21:35 |
IhrFussel |
Could this also cause framedrops? For clients |

hdd or dvd is cheapest backup option, however, hdd is one big single point of failure but lasts long, while dvd has short life time but data spread out across many discs |

finishes making a fire alarm system in Minetest |
23:16 |
cheapie |
I don't mean "a noteblock that goes ding if you push a button", but rather I made a panel that supports trouble detection, walk test... the works. |
23:16 |
cheapie |
Heck, it's even an addressable system. |
23:16 |
cheapie |
I also made a mod that adds horn/strobes and pull stations for use with it. |

It is my testing setup, so that's why the panel isn't built into anything, there's an extra alarm by the panel, and there are signs saying which pull is which, but: |

If you can't read the signs on the panel, the lights are "Power", "Alarm", "Silenced", and "Trouble", and the buttons are "Silence", "Reset", "Walk Test", and "Drill". |
23:55 |
cheapie |
The buttons (as well as the blue stuff behind them) and the lights on the panel are from other mods I've made. |

(digilines buttons and digimese from "digistuff", and RGB lightstone from "rgblightstone") |

Inside the panel, there's a Luacontroller, a blinky plant, and one of those "piezo beepers" that I made. |
