00:06 gravgun it's kinda fun learning how to make one actually
00:06 gravgun I worked on integrating Bullet Physics

03:13 Fritigern I seem to rtemember that there was a trick to getting rid of lighting glitches, and I am getting a lot of them with moretrees. What was the trick again?
03:15 Fritigern Oh, I think I remember. I believe it was something that Worldedit could do
03:16 Emperor_Genshin joined #minetest
03:25 LazyJ Fritigern, using WorldEdit, select an area larger than the affected, lighting glitch area, then:    //replace air air
03:26 Fritigern Thank you! And that was the trick that I was thinking of. Though I wish there were a trick without WE
03:26 LazyJ Out of caution, set the time to high-noon (12000) before replacing the air. That way the light is constant and you don't have to deal with dawn and dusk.
03:26 LazyJ yw ;)
03:27 VanessaE also important:
03:27 VanessaE make damned sure ALL of the area has been loaded
03:27 VanessaE including the surrounding and above air
03:28 VanessaE otherwise you can make the shadows worse.
03:28 LazyJ Yup. A thorough, no-clip fly through is a good idea.
03:33 Fritigern Now, this bug has been around for a long time now. Its there really nothing that can be done to prevent this? Like, have the mod replace air with air after placing a tree perhaps?

03:51 VanessaE he and I were discussing it last light,
03:51 VanessaE he thinks he's found a way to do hardware-assisted lighting.
03:52 VanessaE with unlimited light sources, and even colored lights (in theory)
03:52 Fritigern OMG, I have got the most beautiful cave system here!!! Using only plantlife and moretrees, i used the seed 12374357347419492203 on a v7 map. The caves/canyons start at near 450, 8, -312
03:52 VanessaE some extension to irrlicht, that can be compiled into minetest.  idk how far he's gotten with putting that code to use though
03:53 Fritigern Oh! that would be great! It is one of the most visible bugs to end users

04:32 paramat the shadow bugs with moretrees can probably be fixed by placing trees as saplings that grow a few seconds later by ABM, that should be the mod default
04:33 VanessaE Fritigern: set moretrees to only spawn saplings
04:33 VanessaE there's a setting in its default_settings file.  change/put that in minetest.conf (I think!)
04:34 Fritigern Okay, will see how that goes. BTW, did you check out the canyons/caves that I described above? It's very photogenic

06:10 lemon I think I found what I was looking for, http://dev.minetest.net/texture
06:11 lemon Emperor_Genshin, I was searching for a method to edit textures from the lua.
06:13 Emperor_Genshin hmm edit as in adding?

06:22 lemon Emperor_Genshin, I want to make something like farmesh
06:22 lemon For instance, I can draw sea on the skybox based on player's elevation.
06:23 Emperor_Genshin Ah I see
06:23 Emperor_Genshin that is something that i'm not sure would be possible on the current build
06:23 Emperor_Genshin however would be a great feature
06:24 lemon At least I can make farmesh for the sea.
06:25 Emperor_Genshin hmm so far you can make it frame by frame I guess AFAIK.
06:25 Emperor_Genshin though that would require alot of skybox textures
06:33 Emperor_Genshin hmm, farmesh
06:33 Emperor_Genshin wait, this is a feature that is already available

07:47 Thomas-S hi
07:51 Krock joined #minetest
07:59 Hijiri ok, I figured out a way to do the tnt thing, I can call its on_blast function, which lights the tnt
08:00 VanessaE yunfan: yep.  my servers use leveldb.
08:01 MyTeke_ChrisWMas WOW..
08:03 MyTeke_ChrisWMas Why use Sqlite..??? comeon... is sqlite better, risky or plain crazy to run a GIS, render farm or mapping.
08:05 VanessaE couldn't tell you.  I switched to leveldb because it's a bit faster, and kept it because maps stored therein are smaller than with sqlite.
08:05 VanessaE (leveldb employs some lightweight compression of the database)\
08:05 yunfan VanessaE: ihow to do configure enable it?
08:06 yunfan well leveldb is good at such key value storing issue
08:06 VanessaE most builds already have support for it.  for a brand new world, just edit your world.mt and delete your map.sqlite
08:06 MyTeke_ChrisWMas Yes, same here. LevelDB allows for 64-bit processing.. 8 cores or more processing and fast speeds.
08:06 VanessaE for existing worlds, look at the --migrate command
08:06 MyTeke_ChrisWMas well, I have had to Migrate many times.
08:07 yunfan and leveldb is scalable
08:07 VanessaE I can't speak for its scalability versus sqlite.
08:08 MyTeke_ChrisWMas Yes.. Very, this mapping can use ALL cores on your server, less buffer space and more spliced ram per emerge thread.
08:08 VanessaE that doesn't help much in practice.
08:08 VanessaE the backend still has to wait on other parts of minetest
08:08 Vargos joined #minetest
08:09 MyTeke_ChrisWMas Yes, Like ServerThread. Though saving faster and async LevelDB can be very great.
08:10 VanessaE I meant more like game logic, lua mapgen hooks, and that sort of thing.  those aren't multi-threaded, so on any remotely complex server, the database backend gets very little chance operate at full blast
08:10 yunfan so i was wondering if the server could suuport multiple threads and each take control a part of map
08:11 VanessaE nope.
08:11 VanessaE it can't right now
08:11 VanessaE some day, it might
08:11 VanessaE depends if multi-threaded Lua becomes possible.
08:11 VanessaE hmmmm: ^^^^ that's your arena
08:11 yunfan why you need multi-thread lua?
08:12 VanessaE because in most servers, the mapgen makes use of some Lua hooks to add stuff to the map, like trees and plants.
08:12 yunfan cant you made a cross lua-vm community solution
08:12 VanessaE and aside from that, there's Lua events that have to handle game logic
08:12 MyTeke_ChrisWMas Yeah, this is why I had a AMD Radeon RamDisk to Keep data stored securely while allowing for Best results, Server hosting and Reliable Mapping besides just ONE ServerThread :-(
08:13 VanessaE I don't know what the best method is for handling multi-thread Lua, but I don't expect it will be any time soon
08:13 MyTeke_ChrisWMas Hmmm, yeah. I can understand.
08:14 VanessaE MyTeke_ChrisWMas: indeed, I store some of my servers' data in the /run/shm/ RAMdisk also.  logs, player counts, stats databases, whatever else I can put there that it doesn't matter if it gets erased.
08:14 yunfan the design decision make me feel insane , iam a backend developet
08:14 VanessaE yunfan: well then contribute to the engine if you think you can improve it
08:14 VanessaE code, make pull requests, talk to the devs
08:15 yunfan VanessaE: i am not a cpp developer , python is my primary lang
08:15 MyTeke_ChrisWMas well, the Design is VERY important for Server Hosting.. I want Minestest to go Epic Multi-Threads/Cores/Nodes.. So, if I can help the development then Amazing..
08:15 VanessaE ohh
08:15 VanessaE MyTeke_ChrisWMas: if you think you can help, do try.
08:16 MyTeke_ChrisWMas python scares me, those things Bite. I have been programming Python sense high school. Then robots with Perl and Java plus Python.
08:16 JBB joined #minetest
08:16 yunfan also the document is not clear when i ask people in minetest-dev, they tell me just read the code
08:17 yunfan dont worry we habe cython which has been used in nada's mars roller
08:18 yunfan actually i think that's not the perfect choice for that purpose
08:18 MyTeke_ChrisWMas I want PHP, Lua hmmm if you can NOT compete sorry Lua you'll stay on one cpu core while the rest of the Threads play Reliable and scalable. Minetest with Lua has predictable Server Node success.
08:18 VanessaE whether it happens is mostly a matter of someone being willing to code it
08:19 VanessaE there's not really any technical reason that it can't be done.
08:19 VanessaE where it comes to code, there's very little that is, to my mind, impossible.
08:19 yunfan well i am ok with lua, i learned most knowledge from the book "prohramming in lua"
08:19 yunfan but php is not acceptable to me
08:19 MyTeke_ChrisWMas once we get Minetest and Lua on a control node. Yes, it must be completed for a Final Minetest uprise.
08:19 VanessaE (there is some resistance to the idea though because it's assumed that modders will get stupid when handling things like threads)
08:20 alket joined #minetest
08:21 MyTeke_ChrisWMas Yeah, though modders can just care about the mod and just let the game handle which background threads are used for things like Itemstacks, lights/renders and Player stuff.
08:21 MyTeke_ChrisWMas Very Understood Vanessa
08:22 yunfan i just hope they could give me a clear and brief document on protocol

08:25 yunfan just like jsonp solution for web
08:25 MyTeke_ChrisWMas I Believe and Mostly NOT.. You may use a different file handler.
08:27 VanessaE yunfan: I believe that's the intent eventually
08:27 VanessaE but right now, Lua is strictly server-side
08:28 yunfan VanessaE: so the current client is like an old html only web browser?
08:29 VanessaE I suppose you could say that, but that's over-simplifying it.

08:31 VanessaE you set up directives in the formspec language, like buttons, text objects, lists, and other widgets
08:31 VanessaE the client interprets them and draws them.
08:32 yunfan ok got it, thats a point that we could use client lua to reduce the bandwitch

10:46 gravgun https://github.com/minetest/minetest/blob/master/src/game.cpp#L4102
10:46 gravgun Can't be changed
10:46 gravgun welp, adding that to the list
10:48 everamzah haha
10:52 gravgun Of course, that list will never be shown to coredevs
10:52 gravgun Not because they wouldn't like that
10:52 gravgun Just because they'd not even bother looking at it
10:54 amadin But where must red color of damage in sources
10:54 amadin i mean - must be
10:55 gravgun amadin: You mean "where is the color defined" maybe?
10:55 amadin yes
10:55 gravgun Just under the highlighted line in my link
10:56 gravgun 1st line under is the transparency of the overlay
10:56 gravgun and then the next ones are the Red, Green and Blue components respectively
10:56 leon joined #minetest
10:57 slime why cant you just type "red"? Is minetest trying to be arcane?
10:57 AnotherBrick joined #minetest
10:58 gravgun They could have made the red part a named constant indeed...
10:58 amadin so color is this - 180.0f ?
10:59 gravgun Not just 180
10:59 gravgun Transparency (A) = the lowest between runData->damage_flash and 180.0f, Red (R) = 180, Green (G) = 0, Blue (B) = 0
11:00 gravgun Color handling isn't as intuitive as you'd expect it to be
11:00 gravgun everything is expressed of ARGB components
11:00 gravgun each one ranging from 0 to 255
11:00 amadin i know only color like this #123456
11:00 amadin like in lua
11:01 red-001 joined #minetest
11:01 amadin or web
11:01 gravgun Well here this would equate to #B40000 in terms of color
11:01 gravgun plus the transparency
11:01 amadin i undestand
11:02 amadin do you can show me transparency in code it is best way then change or disable color for me?
11:02 amadin i will just set more transparency
11:03 gravgun As a note, transparency is 0=transparent, 255=opaque
11:03 gravgun You can change std::min(runData->damage_flash, 180.0f)
11:03 gravgun if you set 180.f lower it won't get more opaque than this
11:03 gravgun (so it'll get more transparent)

12:46 Taoki I post these things on a few sites overall
12:46 Taoki :P
12:46 VanessaE nevertheless, I do agree with you in general
12:46 Taoki But yeah... world's a scary place. It's like people who can't distinguish reality are outright given the right to make our laws, and are ready to do god knows what anytime
12:47 VanessaE (I should get back to visiting that site more often.  stopped out of depression)
12:47 Taoki (FA?)
12:47 VanessaE (yeah)
12:48 Taoki Must say I didn't expect (m)any people here to have been visiting it, so that's in a sense surprising :) And I hope you can fix depression soon, I know that sucks :(
12:50 slime > In case some people are still wondering why I sometimes want to see the world burn to the ground. Why should the world be blamed for someone problems?
12:50 VanessaE probably because there are so many people out there that are actively trying to set the world on fire.
12:51 VanessaE it sometimes feels like there's more of them than there are of normal people who just want to lead a normal, productive life.
12:51 slime As long as ratio of people who don't try setting world on fire to people who try less than 0.5, we are safe.

12:53 slime That doesn't mean you should set the world on fire.

12:53 Taoki Yeah, it's just a saying
12:54 VanessaE slime:  the problem with your theory is that you need more like a ratio of 1 in 100 or less, to be "safe", as that one can easily destroy the other 99.
12:58 slime Well, we also have to include the fact that some individuals can destroy the world more easily than the other.

13:11 red-001 Taoki
13:11 red-001 so does the law cover 3d models that can be used to make a *working* gun or just a gun?
13:11 VanessaE well the point being there are enough people trying to destroy the world that their numbers are vastly outweighed by their impact on the world.
13:12 Taoki red-001: I assume working gun. But that can be a normal gun model created by an animator, if they want to go ahead and add detail like the internal parts.

13:15 red-001 if you ban gun you also ban blueprints for guns
13:16 Megaf VanessaE: where do you host your server?

13:16 Megaf I turned my server off until these issues are solved...
13:16 VanessaE Megaf: OVH
13:18 Megaf VanessaE: the Irish one?
13:18 VanessaE I believe they're of French origin.

13:19 Megaf there is one ovh.ie
13:19 Megaf I think it's all the same
13:21 slime red-001, what about guns drawings?
13:22 red-001 do you draw gun blueprints?
13:22 red-001 if not I think you are ok
13:24 VanessaE red-001: the problem is it's a slippery slope.
13:24 VanessaE what's next for them to outlaw?  drawing of those sphere-shaped-with-fuse bombs common in cartoons?
13:24 VanessaE +s
13:24 red-001 is owning a airsoft gun vs a firearm a slippery slope?
13:25 Taoki red-001: I don't think it matters what it is you draw. By merely suggesting that drawing something is a crime, we're descending into madness here, in my opinion.
13:25 Taoki And a place where no one really went.
13:26 * Calinou is downloading gun models from Blendswap right now…
13:26 Calinou ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
13:26 Calinou also sounds from Freesound
13:26 red-001 do you think that drawing working blueprints for nuclear weapons should be legal?
13:26 VanessaE red-001: yes, it should be.
13:26 VanessaE what should NOT be legal is *building* such a thing
13:26 Taoki Calinou: You monster! Those sounds can be used to trick people into using guns, which is a monstrous crime! 300 years in prison, @#$@$@$@$#@!!!
13:27 VanessaE (unless you have the appropriate permits etc etc etc)
13:27 Taoki VanessaE: Exactly.
13:27 Calinou Taoki, I want to make a realistic FPS someday using Godot :p so I'm collecting assets
13:27 red-001 what about drawing instructions on making chemical weapons?
13:27 VanessaE outlawing drawings, models, blueprints, etc. is tantamount to a thoughtcrime
13:27 Taoki At very worst, 3D printers themselves could get some regulations. At best, just outlaw printing and / or carrying the weapon in public altogether.
13:27 Calinou something in the spirit of Action Quake 2, True Combat, Urban Terror…
13:28 Calinou small-ish maps, focused on deathmatch or capture the flag
13:28 Taoki Calinou: Hope people are still allowed to create art by the time you finish. (joking, they will be... but things like this just make one wonder)
13:28 Taoki Anyway, to outlaw making a drawing... wow.
13:29 VanessaE Taoki: over on this side of the planet, they do the same thing regarding depictions of underage kids.  half of what people my age grew up with is considered child porn or some form of abuse now.
13:29 realbadangel__ joined #minetest
13:29 Taoki I mean I hate to bring up such a highly uncomfortable subject. But in most places of the world, even child porn is okay to draw, granted of course it's fictional characters / etc. Some places have a few laws against that I figure, but it's not a globally outlawed thing. Because no one was dumb enough to go that far not even for this....
13:30 VanessaE I have no stomach for such things, but I have even less tolerance for making them illegal when no one's being harmed.
13:30 Taoki That.
13:30 VanessaE here even a fictional character constitutes child porn, apparently.
13:31 VanessaE half the stuff they put on Japanese TV and other media would result in federal prison time here. :-/
13:31 Taoki There are some weird places like that... but it's not everywhere. Hopefully it will at worst be the same with gun sketches.
13:31 * red-001 sigh
13:31 red-001 it's not gun sketchs
13:31 * Calinou should succeed in self-hosting ownCloud
13:31 sfan5 <Taoki> Anyway, to outlaw making a drawing... wow.

13:31 Calinou my Framadrive is using 1.5 GB out of 2 GB :(
13:31 red-001 well done
13:32 Calinou I host the assets I collect there, to not lose them in case of SSD crash
13:32 red-001 why?
13:32 Taoki sfan5: Yeah... why is it not even surprising any more...
13:33 Taoki And humans still claim to have evolved from monkeys. Some have a long way to go still...
13:35 Taoki That said, I've grown to accept that from many perspectives, America is a worse place to live in than Iraq. Like yeah, I know... there aren't any bombs there and you're allowed most degrees of freedom. But when you have to be scared of making or watching a frigging drawing or saying a basic thing... forget it, safer to just live in India.
13:36 red-001 really I don't like america but I would chose it anyday over Iraq
13:36 Taoki It's weird, it's sad, but it's true. The beacon if democracy is often just a hidden beacon if dictatorship and tirrany. But that's diving into now typical and cliche knowledge :P
13:36 Taoki Meh... overall I would too. But frankly, sometimes, I actually tend to doubt even such things...
13:38 red-001 well so far it's only a law against working blueprints for guns
13:38 Taoki In one place, you risk being shot or abducted by terrorists for no reason. In the other, shot or arrested by police for reasons just as absurd. So which is better then? Someday, that might become a legitimate question, the way some things are going...

16:29 Calinou cimbakahn, does the block temporarily appear client-side? if not, it might mean the admin has placed a "nobuild"-style block which prevents all building
16:30 cimbakahn I tried logging off for over an hour and that didn't work.  I tried using left/shift to place a block and that didn't work either.

16:41 cimbakahn Someone said that i should ask storm to crash the server and then restart it.    ??????
16:41 cimbakahn Would that work?
16:43 cimbakahn This has never happened before.  The only thing different that has happened recently, is that an admin gave me noclip.  Could noclip have anything to do with placing blocks?
16:44 Calinou if you enable noclip (and have the privilege), you can place blocks inside of you
16:44 cimbakahn If it does, i'll just ask him to take that privilage away from me.
16:44 Calinou (alternatively, I think you can force it everywhere client-side using `enable_build_where_you_stand = true`)
16:46 cimbakahn Would i type this in the chat ----> `enable_build_where_you_stand = true`
16:47 cimbakahn Do you think it would fix the problem?
16:52 xenkey Hi
16:53 xenkey How do supply converters in technic work?
16:53 Krock cimbakahn, /set enable_build_where_you_stand true
16:53 Krock xenkey, a cable on top, another on the bottom
16:54 cimbakahn Do i type that into the chat box?
16:54 xenkey right

16:54 xenkey alright
16:54 xenkey the networks being different voltages?
16:55 Krock everything other is nonsense
16:55 cimbakahn Could i put it back to false when i'm done?
16:55 CWz /set enable_build_where_you_stand true will only work on singleplayer as on a server it will be met with the missing  privs message
16:55 Krock make sure you always use HV cables when the machines are far away - less voltage loss! :P
16:56 Krock CWz, yes. Taht's why there are also text editors for minetest.conf and the fancy settings menu :)

19:52 Jordach not sure about not making it clip within a building, but eh
19:54 Hijiri what field does it set when someone presses enter button on a formspec?

20:01 kaadmy sofar: yes
20:01 Hijiri it sets quit to true
20:01 Hijiri so I guess there's no way to distinguish enter from esc
20:01 sofar that way the client can do the collision for rain particles, avoid rain indoor etc.
20:03 Jordach sofar, i actually thought of cheating
20:03 Jordach instead of having particles close to a client
20:03 cmdskp button_exit[..] and button [..] allow you to trigger sending the fields from the form and either to exit or leave the form up.  Thus you can make your own 'Enter' button do either a quit on click or not
20:03 cmdskp however, you can't programmatically ask the form to close from Lua :/
20:03 Jordach why not have special meshnodes that span 4x4x1 nodes in a giant plantlike appearance with an animated rain texture
20:07 sofar Jordach: I wouldn't worry too much about cheating
20:07 sofar Jordach: most people want weather because of the ambience, not the gameplay... weather doesn
20:07 sofar t really affect much anyway

20:17 nm0i Megaf: Pst-pst. Here is the secret: I do too.
20:18 cmdskp I'm afraid Enter is basically escape in MT forms, afairc
20:18 cmdskp It's irritating in fields, I've noticed, for searching
20:18 Hijiri rip
20:18 Hijiri maybe I should make a feature request
20:19 cmdskp And you can't bind Enter to something else... :(
20:19 Hijiri oh, it already is a request
20:19 cmdskp =)
20:19 Megaf nm0i: whats your server?

20:32 Megaf meh
20:32 Megaf nm0i: back it the day my ping was 2ms and lately was 8ms, but this is just surreal
20:32 Megaf 104ms!?
20:33 Megaf I hope they fix that soon
20:36 sofar kaadmy: weather should influence plants, but through plants mods using something like minetest.get_weather_state()
20:36 kaadmy yah
20:36 sofar or minetest.is_raining()
20:36 sofar I'd like weather to be local, so minetest.get_weather(pos) seems appropriate
20:37 kaadmy yes
20:37 sofar I've tried to make a core patch at one point for this
20:37 kaadmy but that should wait(tm)
20:37 sofar didn't get far with it yet
20:37 kaadmy for client-side scripting
20:37 sofar it would be a protocol change I think
20:38 sofar we'd need a new weather state packet
20:38 Hijiri where can I read about the different visual types for LuaEntitySAOs?

21:11 xenkey Hi
21:11 xenkey How do i take items out of a LV furnace with a pipe?
21:14 Hijiri Can ObjectRefs become invalid, and how can I tell if they do?
21:17 ElectronLibre joined #minetest
21:20 sofar Hijiri: if not objectref return end ?
21:24 cmdskp I do not know for Lua, but logically, a reference should never become invalid in an automatic garbage collection system that Lua does
21:24 sofar xenkey: use a filter/injector from pipeworks
21:24 sofar xenkey: https://github.com/VanessaE/pipeworks/wiki/images/Furnaces.png
21:25 xenkey does that need to be pulsed with mesecons to remove an item?
21:25 sofar yes
21:25 cmdskp however, custom userdata inside the ObjectRef may be saved off(unloaded) and no longer be accessible until they are loaded back
21:27 cmdskp but I haven't tested that yet =)
21:30 cmdskp The best way to test is to see if the ObjectRef still has a property which you expect, or go through a for key, value in pairs(your_object_ref) and print out what it has
21:31 cmdskp or is it type UserData?  I forget :/
21:32 bas080 So new year is happening one and a half hours here
21:32 kaadmy bas080: same time zone as Krock?

22:12 sofar don't know for sure, but I'd assume it ges set to nil

22:39 cmdskp Hijiri, are you still here? I've done a test on ObjectRef
22:41 xenkey Okay so
22:41 xenkey I've worldedited wires, how do i make them mass-link?
22:43 kaadmy they don't link together when placed?
22:43 xenkey i never placed them
22:43 xenkey i mean they do
22:43 xenkey i used worldedit
22:44 kaadmy do they work?
22:44 Hijiri cmdskp: hi
22:44 cmdskp Well, for the record, in case I forget the results: an ObjectRef from a deactivated(unloaded) entity returns a valid value, but the returns of get_luaentity() and getpos() both return nil, get_hp() on the other hand returns 1
22:44 cmdskp =) wb
22:44 Hijiri ok, thanks
22:44 cmdskp however, if I then go back to the entity and it gets reloaded in and appears
22:45 Hijiri I guess I can use getpos() then
22:45 cmdskp when I check my ref, it still returns nil for the get_luaentity(), etc.
22:45 Hijiri to cover both entities and players
22:45 cmdskp no, getpos() returns nil
22:45 Hijiri I mean to check for validity
22:45 cmdskp ah true
22:47 cmdskp so it looks like the ref is pointing to an empty old shell of an entity once it's gone
22:49 cmdskp and it's invalid forever after, unless you re-hooked it up yourself haha which is possible and something I planned on needing to do in this sort of case
22:50 cmdskp though might be easier just to get the new entity ref from the lists of entities active
22:51 RealBadAngel Happy New year guys :) (heres only 10 mins left)

23:18 nm0i Oh, cool. Can't find in API docs how to read data from checkbox on_receive_field in register_node . fields.checkbox is always nil.
23:18 cmdskp a Nian is a beast that lives under the sea or in the mountains (sounds perfect for Minetest!), that around the Chinese New Year comes out of hiding to attack people and prefers children :)

23:27 rubenwardy_ nm0i, have you made sure to set the name?
23:27 rubenwardy_ ie, is the name definitely "checkbox"
23:27 nm0i yeah
23:28 rubenwardy_ what happens if you do print(dump(fields))
23:28 rubenwardy_ Have you checked formname to make sure it is you form?
23:29 nm0i It id not present in dump, buttons and fields are.
23:30 Sokomine cmdskp: we already got the nyan cats. maybe they can attack as well if needed :-)
23:30 rubenwardy Interesting
23:30 cmdskp Have you given the checkbox a name, other than 'checkbox'? checkbox[0.2,4.75;myCheckboxName;Tick me!]
23:31 nm0i "checkbox[0,2.2;private;Private;false]"..
23:31 cmdskp Sokomine:  Mmm, I was planning on getting them to move like Tron cycles in the sky...attacking sounds cool from them too.
23:32 cmdskp so, "if fields.private then" should work?
23:32 nm0i Noup
23:32 nm0i :(
23:32 rubenwardy What kind of formspec is it? minetest.show_formspec?
23:32 cmdskp let me try my own code here, I have a checkbox setup, but not tested the result yet from it
23:33 nm0i meta:set_string("formspec","...")
23:33 rubenwardy and then on_receive_field in the node def
23:33 nm0i yes
23:34 nm0i 0.4.13
23:34 Hijiri I'm getting the double fault error when I call punch on an item on the ground
23:34 rubenwardy I've never actually used node formspecs, it's all a little weird. I'd imagine it'd be the same in terms of submission. Never used check boxes either
23:35 nm0i Yeah I haven't seen checkboxes in node formspecs
23:36 rubenwardy Maybe it only submits the state when it toggles?
23:36 rubenwardy and not on button click?
23:36 nm0i Let me check that...
23:36 * cmdskp checking too - once it finished loading media
23:37 nm0i Yes
23:37 nm0i rubenwardy: you right, thank you.
23:37 rubenwardy That should definitely be documented somewhere
23:38 nm0i Seems no =\
23:39 cmdskp ah, yeah, that explains it - it's treating the checkbox the same as any button really, they all trigger when clicked
23:39 nm0i Hmmmmm.... That makes stuff more complicated
23:40 cmdskp Indeed! I'll need to rethink how I store my checkbox now too
23:43 nm0i So much for "yea another setpos mod" :D
23:43 Thomas-S Bye. Happy New Year!
23:46 Fixer Happy New Year! *opens door with zombies*
23:46 nm0i Complicated meta formspec now seems bad idea...
23:47 * kaadmy pushes a button to expose hidden ropes along the ground
23:47 rubenwardy What's the usecase?
23:47 rubenwardy You could do a simple context thing
23:48 rubenwardy http://rubenwardy.com/minetest_modding_book/chapters/formspecs.html#contexts
23:49 nm0i Typing in coordinates for portal mod, check if you want to lock it.
23:49 nm0i Yeah, that seems like it.
23:50 nm0i I'd have to store only 2 fields in meta, then, and it'd survive possible version changes.
23:55 cmdskp use a formspec context table of values for each player?  Shown here: http://rubenwardy.com/minetest_modding_book/chapters/formspecs.html
23:55 cmdskp that way you can recall the state of a checkbox on submit button later
23:56 Hijiri anyone want to help me test something, and also so I can get a screenshot
