Xenoth, Odd. Orbiter runs fine here. Well except that when I ran the old copy I could see stars and a black sky in daytime on earth, so I had to reinstall, and its probably gonna crash when I try to do a free return |

I updated my minetest install with the method provided here --> https://forum.minetest.net/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=3837 and was moving my textures and mods etc. into the correct locations, and I ran across the ~/minetest/util/ folder and saw that it already has stuff in there, then I realized that I have minetestmapper installed in the ~/.minetest/util/ folder. Is it okay to move minetestmapper from ~/.minetest/util/ to ~/minetest/util/ (pay attentio |

Also, sorry for the book. |
01:27 |
AndroidKris |
NVM. noticed that the game stopped reading my mods and texture packs when I moved them from ~/.minetest/* to ~/minetest/* |
01:28 |
AndroidKris |
If anyone can tell me why this happened and how to correct it, I'll be greatly appreciative. I'm tired of ctrl+h to see hidden files, just to make changes to mods, etc. |

LevelDB on the other hand, you can set in the world.mt file in the world root |

@Jordach Any luck with mapgen? |
11:32 |
Jordach |
i'm decent with Biome_API |
11:33 |
Routh |
I just pulled in the latest master, still seeing a couple biomes as all dirt on a fresh mapgen. |
11:33 |
Jordach |
because you have to define your own |
11:33 |
Routh |
I mean in BFD |
11:33 |
Jordach |
update the copy |
11:34 |
Routh |
The copy? |
11:34 |
Routh |
I pulled in the latest master if that's what you mean. |
11:34 |
Jordach |
download commit e99cf22 |
11:34 |
Jordach |
are you using V6 or singlenode? |
11:35 |
Routh |
No, I'm letting BFD pick its own mapgen, this is on a server. |
11:35 |
Jordach |
you need to specify |
11:35 |
Jordach |
by default MT chooses V6 |
11:36 |
Jordach |
it used to force V7 |
11:36 |
Jordach |
up until V5s release |
11:36 |
Routh |
Oh, I'm forcing v7 with my subgame, thought you were as well. |
11:36 |
Jordach |
by default the world meta must have the right mapgen |
11:37 |
Jordach |
before starting a server, make a world folder, then put map_meta.txt inside of it |
11:37 |
Jordach |
with this line, then save it |
11:37 |
Jordach |
mg_name = v7 |
11:37 |
Jordach |
replace that 7 with 5 for the other BiomeAPI mapgen |
11:38 |
Jordach |
(and if you see one biome for a while, that's not my fault - that's a bug) |
11:38 |
Routh |
Adding that to the .conf for that server will do the same trick I believe? |
11:38 |
Jordach |
yes |
11:41 |
Routh |
Ok, that should do it. Regening now... |
11:41 |
Routh |
This leaves me with a question for you. Why not force v7 mapgen with your mapgen module? |
11:44 |
Jordach |
because users might want to use MGV5 |
11:44 |
Jordach |
a server admin has the choice to choose via the conf |
11:45 |
Jordach |
a player who installs it locally can via creating a world |
11:45 |
Routh |
Ahh, gotcha. Didn't realize you were aiming to support both mapgens |
11:45 |
Jordach |
they use the same API |
11:45 |
Routh |
Don't think I've ever even tried v5 |
11:45 |
Jordach |
it's akin to the older versions of MT |
11:46 |
Jordach |
and potentially better looking |
11:46 |
Routh |
I like v7 personally. Theres a few glitches.. but those mountains and rivers are awesome. |
11:47 |
Routh |
My BFD server mapgen looks pretty good now. |
11:47 |
Routh |
Thanks |
11:47 |
Jordach |
you'll also notice the grass tiles are random |
11:47 |
Jordach |
same for the stone |
11:47 |
Jordach |
(spying the console log will profile how much it's processing at once) |
11:48 |
Routh |
I have an area with forest that is almost striped. One chunk of forest is all basic trees, one is all cherry and one all birch. That's kind of neat. How did you make that happen? |

does anyone by any chance know how that other game (mc) handles the greenness of dirt, leaves and grass plants? those textures seem to be black-and-white only |
16:55 |
kilbith |
those nodes in minecraft have smooth gradient colorization of greens |
16:56 |

the colorization depends on the humidity map or so i guess |

i'm creating special compatibility nodes for most mc nodes. there are limits (i don't really want to create nodeboxes for those nodes that might need it right now). but textures as such are very important. buildings have to be watched with the textures they where built with in order to get the right feeling of color combinations |

I was always of the mind that the current site setup was the best setup. I always hated that 'sidebar' design that so many sites are using, and liked the pulldown links on the top of the page... hopefully the site will still load fast and use no flash, etc, so it'll still work on my crappy laptop. also, hopefully the wiki and dev-wiki pages will still be easy to find. |

Krock |
luizrpgluiz, I don't have matches to lauch a new version |
20:19 |

Krock, well using PHP as "scripting language" to generate the static content is allowed. you should however provide a way to be done automatically, e.g. git hook |
