00:19 |

how do you handle the "part" where they have to go outside, like, the air and stuffz |
00:19 |
WindHero |
I should really go make a post on the forum detailing what's been added and fixed since I joined the dev team for it... |
00:20 |
WindHero |
as it stands, all air is replaced by vacuum |
00:20 |
WindHero |
in which you drown without a spacesuit |
00:20 |
WindHero |
as far as leaving the shuttle without letting vacuum in... |
00:20 |

exactly |

how fast do you die in vacuum? |
00:26 |
WindHero |
about as fast as you die in water |
00:26 |

do you explode in a vacuume ? |
00:26 |

it's taken this long to persuade zsoltisawesome not to just "pretend" there's vacuum :P |
00:27 |
WindHero |
before I joined development, there were all sorts of bugs with vacuum |
00:27 |

there was a guy in decompression from deep water welding... the seal on the chamber ruptured and he exploded |

In any case, today I made the final (?) fix to vacuum |
00:30 |

i just realized lava + fake |
00:30 |
WindHero |
xD |
00:31 |
WindHero |
first: no vacuum above water level, or down in caves |
00:31 |
WindHero |
fixed with LVM |
00:31 |
Exio4 |
why not |
00:31 |
blaise |
hey, if we build a tight cylindrical structure with only one node open, fill it full of cows, and drop source water in.. will the cows shoot rediculous distances like in mc ? |
00:31 |
WindHero |
it's a drowning node |
00:31 |
WindHero |
ROFL |
00:31 |
WindHero |
I don't think so.... |
00:32 |
blaise |
I kind of wanna try |
00:32 |
WindHero |
then, since vacuum isn't air, fluids like water and lava didn't flow |
00:33 |
WindHero |
liquids ignore buildable_to, I guess |
00:33 |
Exio4 |
what is the pattern of a flowing liquid in vacuum? |
00:33 |
WindHero |
still relies on gravity |
00:34 |
WindHero |
so not much different |
00:34 |
WindHero |
here's the funny part: fixing the liquid meant there's a problem when liquid is removed :P |
00:34 |
WindHero |
But I also solved that. |
00:35 |
WindHero |
and that's the history of vacuum errors, in brief. |

I want to find the names of item and item2 in a for loop |
00:49 |
jordan4ibanez |
I did the for loop, but on each i=number I tried table[i] and it comes up as nil |
00:52 |
WindHero |
that's because your table isn't a key/value store |
00:52 |
jordan4ibanez |
I'm trying to index a table item with the list number it's at, like table[1] or table[0] |
00:52 |
WindHero |
wait |
00:52 |
WindHero |
wrong way of saying it |
00:52 |
WindHero |
it is a key/value store, but not a numerically indexxed one |
00:53 |
jordan4ibanez |
So I'd have to have the table value as 0,1,2,3 to index it properly? |
00:53 |
WindHero |
hmm |
00:54 |
Vazon_ |
mhmm it seems most of the technic code has been rewriten since i last used it, nothing works like it did 5 months ago lol |

you need to use this kind of loop |

WindHero |
if value == "whatever" then do_domething() end |

I don't think a not working internet based resource should be able to crash the Minetest client. If the public server list or the modstore don't respond or cannot be displayed then the client should be able to backout and display a meaningfull error message such as "not my fault, go punch the modstore dev" |
14:56 |
