How do I make wall stairs (on VE's server)? |
01:01 |
VanessaE |
khonkhortisan: get a regular stair into your inventory, then type /st to switch to walls mode |

VanessaE |
then place the stair |
01:02 |

(I should extend /st to affect slabs also) |

Hey, I have a problem. I've got PilzAdam's Simple Mobs mod installed, but it isn't ever spawning any mobs. It seems to be some sort of conflict with one of the other mods I have installed, but it's failing silently; I've got no clues from Minetest's verbose terminal output. I have 48 mobs installed and none of them seem to be likely to cause a conflict, so it's not very practical to go through and try disabling each of them. Does anyone have any ideas fo |

Jordach: Why not mods/minetest? Isn't that where you're supposed to put mods for minetest-game? |
02:06 |
Jordach |
onpon4, thats a singleplayer dir |
02:06 |
Jordach |
not a server mods dir |
02:06 |
Jordach |
server mods go in /games/minetest_game/mods/xyz |
02:06 |
Jordach |
xyz being the mod folders |
02:06 |
onpon4 |
That's not what I've been told. |
02:08 |
Jordach |
onpon4, thats how it works for the latest git servers |
02:08 |
Jordach |
unfortunately |
02:08 |
onpon4 |
But anyway, that really has nothing to do with my problem even if what you're saying is true. I'm testing in single player. |
02:08 |
onpon4 |
And like I said, 0.4.6 stable, not latest Git. |
02:08 |
Jordach |
although mods installed where you have them will be global across gamemodes |
02:08 |
Jordach |
in 0.4.7 |
02:08 |
Jordach |
you just enable the ones you want |
02:09 |
onpon4 |
I'm pretty sure I read that the new global location is just supposed to be ~/.minetest/mods. |
02:09 |
Jordach |
onpon4, i prefer using a run in place build |
02:09 |
Jordach |
this might be a difference |
02:11 |
onpon4 |
But again... that's unrelated to my problem. Does anyone have any ideas what to look for? I tried Minetest's verbose terminal output; the only possibility left I can think of is to check every single mod and then wait a few minutes for a mob to spawn, and that's horribly inefficient since I have 48 mods. |
02:12 |
Jordach |
onpon4, theyll spawn if you know the mods were in the correct place |
02:13 |
onpon4 |
They do spawn if I only have mobs installed. But with all 48 mods installed, they don't spawn. |
02:14 |
Jordach |
that might be a bug in the engine |
02:14 |
Jordach |
i've seen more mods loaded, but heavy ones such as that might be a problem |

while we're talking about textures, it would be even nicer if the textures of the nodes were automagically chosen based on their name; eg. instead of "default_tree.top.png","default_tree.png", you just put "default_tree.png", the game looks for "default_tree_top.png" automagically, and does so for "bottom", "tb" (top+bottom), left/right/front/back/sides (left + right)/fb (front + back), and so on... |

so that texture packs can... well, do more stuff |

hi |
23:19 |
PilzAdam |
kaeza, done |
23:20 |
kaeza |
thanks :) |
23:20 |
kaeza |
but something must be wrong here |
23:20 |
VanessaE |
gah, what is it with my fps lately? feels like I'm running in software mode :-/ |
23:20 |
PilzAdam |
/give kaeza farming:seed_wheat 0 >:-) |
23:21 |
Exio |
-1! |
23:21 |
Uberi |
VanessaE: paint your case blue! |
23:21 |
PilzAdam |
Exio, its unsigned |
23:21 |
Uberi |
we need support for negative /give |
23:21 |
ch98 |
so what does this error mean? |
23:21 |
Uberi |
that would behave like /take |
23:21 |
VanessaE |
can someone help me find out what it is about the spawn on my server that's killing my fps? |
23:21 |
ch98 |
error: no match for 'operator==' in 'i == std::list<_Tp, _Alloc>::rend() [with _Tp = RollbackAction, _Alloc = std::allocator<RollbackAction>]()' |
23:21 |
PilzAdam |
hmm.. what about catching negative values in /give and remove the items from inventory? |
23:22 |
Uberi |
yes perfect for adventure maps |
23:22 |
Uberi |
you had a flashlight? oops, you dropped it |
23:22 |
PilzAdam |
someone requested /pulverze <name> already |
23:23 |
PilzAdam |
I guess /give <name> -<number> would be good |
23:23 |
kahrl |
VanessaE, what do I need to do to get the mesh update thread error? |
23:23 |
|
theTroy joined #minetest |
23:24 |
VanessaE |
kahrl: I'm not sure what the pattern is to that. |
23:24 |
Exio |
WTF |
23:24 |
Exio |
i coded something |
23:24 |
Exio |
and compiled without warnings, the first time! |
23:24 |
Exio |
kaeza knows what it is |
23:24 |
VanessaE |
but it is easier to trigger if you yank your focus away from the MT window as soon as you hit 'connect' |
23:25 |
PilzAdam |
Exio, I coded whole mods without errors |
23:25 |
Uberi |
like the Air Sword mod |
23:25 |
Exio |
lua is easier |
23:26 |
Uberi |
guaranteed bug free |
23:26 |
kahrl |
VanessaE: is that true or just a coincidence? |
23:26 |
PilzAdam |
Uberi, is the Air Sword topic back? |
23:26 |
PilzAdam |
someone removed it |
23:26 |
VanessaE |
kahrl: it's probably just a coincidence, I really don't know how to reliably reproduce it |
23:27 |
Uberi |
what? I should hope not |
23:28 |
PilzAdam |
VanessaE, http://forum.minetest.net/viewtopic.php?pid=93113#p93113 |
23:28 |
Uberi |
it;s GONE! where is it? |
23:28 |
VanessaE |
PilzAdam: what is that? |
23:28 |
Uberi |
who would remove the most incredibly powerful weapon mod ever devised for a video game? |
23:28 |
PilzAdam |
VanessaE, its a not english topic in the english part of the forum |
23:28 |
VanessaE |
oh right |
23:28 |
VanessaE |
moved. |
23:29 |
VanessaE |
didn't catch which section it was in :) |
23:29 |
PilzAdam |
you should post something too |
23:29 |
PilzAdam |
its his first post |
23:29 |
VanessaE |
go ahead, I don't understand that language :-) |
23:29 |
PilzAdam |
Uberi, I suggest a shitstorm on thexyz to bring it back from his backups |
23:29 |
ch98 |
why does irrlicht build without error when minetest has more than thausand error if you do it from start? |
23:29 |
VanessaE |
eh, I'll add something. |
23:30 |
Uberi |
I wish I had kept a copy |
23:30 |
kaeza |
Uberi, lol |
23:30 |
kahrl |
has anybody seen the bug where water is opaque until you punch something? |
23:30 |
PilzAdam |
I saved one copy of the mod in the default settings of my text editor |
23:31 |
PilzAdam |
it always opens it starting it |
23:31 |
kahrl |
VanessaE: I can't reproduce the mesh update thread bug right now |
23:31 |
Uberi |
>>> mkdir air_sword & touch init.lua |
23:31 |
Exio |
content_ignore_sword is the best sword |
23:31 |
PilzAdam |
* air_sword/init.lua |
23:31 |
kaeza |
PilzAdam, cn's mods were GPL'ed, and you made a mod based on his code |
23:31 |
Uberi |
whoops |
23:31 |
VanessaE |
kahrl: try using a heavy texture pack e.g. Sphax or Haven or HDX or so |
23:31 |
VanessaE |
it might be a memory-usage-dependent issue |
23:31 |
kaeza |
that makes your mods GPL :O |
23:33 |
* kaeza |
now refuses to even base his mods on PA's |
23:33 |
Uberi |
only that particular mod |
23:33 |
Uberi |
it's not like all the code output that ever existed becomes GPL |
23:36 |
ch98 |
what does error "error: no match for 'operator==' in 'i == std::list<_Tp, _Alloc>::rend() [with _Tp = RollbackAction, _Alloc = std::allocator<RollbackAction>]()'" mean in code "!(i == m_action_latest_buffer.rend()); i++)" |
