its not that im trying to replace fences with a different node, im trying to make things only stack up to 20, and perhaps also only be diggable with the right tool, but its making fences and technic cables not connect |
01:06 |
rubenwardy |
Sounds like another mod is interfering |
01:06 |
rubenwardy |
Perhaps with its own overrides |

just curious. are the coordinates displayed in ServerEnv warnings map block coordinates? if so, how do i convert them to actual map coords? |
01:57 |
ircSparky |
map blocks are 16x16(x16?), so i would assume you just multiple them by 16 |
01:57 |

thanks, i'm going to give that a try to see if the warnings lead to the issue |

thx Mr_P |
14:22 |

I don't think I've ever changed the map type |
14:22 |
Tenplus1 |
any mod changes or updates ? |
14:22 |
BillyS |
Hmm ... I've updated quite a few mods |
14:22 |
Tenplus1 |
can you remember which ones >? |
14:22 |
BillyS |
And this started happening a while ago ... I doubt I could pinpoint it |
14:23 |
BillyS |
Mainly Techpack |
14:23 |
BillyS |
As well as terumet ... |
14:23 |
BillyS |
I don't see how either of those could do it |
14:23 |
Tenplus1 |
in your minetest.conf file, does it save map changes regularly ? |
14:24 |
BillyS |
Tenplus, I think it's at the default |
14:24 |
Tenplus1 |
cant think what else it could be then |
14:24 |
BillyS |
Does the server shut down regularly when it receives a kill signal? |
14:25 |
Krock |
o/ BillyS |
14:25 |
BillyS |
Hey Krock |
14:25 |
Krock |
grep -r "node:name" look out for LBMs |
14:26 |
BillyS |
Krock, on my logs? |
14:26 |
Krock |
no, mods. |
14:26 |
BillyS |
ah |
14:26 |
BillyS |
Was wondering about the -r. :P |
14:26 |
Krock |
maybe a mod wants to update those each time the mapblock loads after server shutdown |
14:26 |
BillyS |
One of them is a rail |
14:27 |
Krock |
try placing another node on its place |
14:27 |
BillyS |
And its always in the same place, so probably not an LBM |
14:27 |
BillyS |
I'll check tho |
14:27 |
BillyS |
m'kay |
14:27 |
Krock |
if that node disappears then it's a malfunctioning mod which digs nodes |
14:27 |
Tenplus1 |
same place, meaning you can place nodes elsewhere and they save but this one area ? |
14:28 |
BillyS |
yes |
14:30 |
BillyS |
Its mainly on the rails ... I wonder if there is an issue with boost_carts or something |
14:31 |
BillyS |
Next time one disappears though Ill put something different and try |
14:53 |
Krock |
boost_cart does not place nodes |
14:53 |
Krock |
or dig |

checking... |
17:20 |
Andrey01 |
the code is easy. but why can that ore not be dug? |
17:21 |
Tenplus1 |
when you call on_dig you have to add items, add wear to tool and remove node yourself remember |
17:22 |
Tenplus1 |
you could use after_dig_node(pos, node, player) to add items and leave on_dig to do it's own thing |
17:23 |
Andrey01 |
ok |
17:24 |
Andrey01 |
now it is working. but i don`t get any items in creative mode |
17:25 |
Andrey01 |
maybe does it work only i nsurvival one? |
17:25 |
Andrey01 |
in* |
17:25 |
Tenplus1 |
in creative mode any items added to inventory are only added once |
17:25 |
Tenplus1 |
you can dig 100 dirt, but only 1 in inventory cause you can place that 1 dirt 100 times |
17:26 |

17:38 |

another line is calling misc.max_table_value() and sending it nothing instead of a table... you gotta backtrace the error from that |

Darcidride_ joined #minetest-hub |

Andrey01 |
i`ve posted error there in same gist |
17:39 |
Andrey01 |
but why is 'input' nil? |
17:39 |
Andrey01 |
on line 32 it`s written: particles_time = {start = 0, end_ = misc.max_table_value(particles_spawners_def[2])}, |
17:40 |
Tenplus1 |
also line 119 |
17:41 |
Tenplus1 |
particles_spawners_def.time ??? what is this |
17:41 |
Tenplus1 |
is it meant to be: particlesspawner_def.time |
17:42 |
Andrey01 |
it spawns immediately few particles_spawners |
17:43 |
Andrey01 |
in arbitrary places |
17:43 |
Andrey01 |
and by one function:misc.create_particle_spawner() |
17:43 |
Tenplus1 |
I see that, seems line 119 is sending it a weird table that isnt defined |
17:44 |
Tenplus1 |
that's why I asked if the variable: particles_spawners_def.time should really be: particlespawners_def.time |
17:47 |
Andrey01 |
particlespawners_def.time doesn`t actually exist |
17:49 |
Andrey01 |
it seems "particles_spawners_def.time" i need to replace to "particles_spawners_def[2]", because first varyable doesn`t exist |
17:49 |
Tenplus1 |
are you posting the actual .lua file or a snippet of code... the line numbers dont seem to match up with error message |

that's ok... need to see complete code for any errors that occur |
17:53 |
Tenplus1 |
yeah, line 288 is the cause |
17:53 |
Tenplus1 |
it's not sending a proper table to the max_table_value() function |
17:53 |
Tenplus1 |
fix that and it'll work |

here is syntax error that i can not understand why it causes: clicker:set_animation({x=1,y=1}, frame_speed=15, frame_blend=160.1) |
19:32 |
aerozoic |
wazup Tenplus1 ! |
19:32 |
Andrey01 |
')' expected near '=' |
19:32 |
Andrey01 |
really is there any syntax error here??? |
19:33 |
sfan5 |
Andrey01: lua does not have named parameters |
19:33 |
sfan5 |
not in the way you're trying to use them at least |
19:34 |
Andrey01 |
well here it is written so:https://dev.minetest.net/Player |
19:34 |
sfan5 |
still incorrect |
19:35 |

Would migrating my 20GB map from sqlite to postgre show any benefits on an older computer? |
19:36 |
Tenplus1 |
Andrey01: clicker:set_animation({x=1,y=1}, 15, 160.1) |
19:36 |
sfan5 |
depends, what do you inted to improve by migrating? |
19:38 |
aerozoic |
sfan5, i've had issues with rollback when the rollback file gets large. |
19:38 |
sfan5 |
rollback only supports sqlite |
19:38 |
Tenplus1 |
easier to disable :P |
19:38 |
aerozoic |
oh, does that mean if i migrated the map, rollback wouldn't work? Or rollback would continue to be sqlite? |
19:39 |
sfan5 |
latter |
19:39 |
aerozoic |
ok, i'm also trying to reduce bandwidth |
19:40 |
sfan5 |
bandwidth to/from where?? |
19:40 |
aerozoic |
Does the different map DB's effect bandwidth? |
19:40 |
aerozoic |
From the server to the client |
19:40 |
sfan5 |
then the answer is no |
19:40 |
aerozoic |
thanks sfan5 :) |
19:41 |
aerozoic |
So migrating will give me no help. |
19:41 |
aerozoic |
Would it improve map chunks loading when running across the map? |
19:42 |
aerozoic |
Or is that mostly a bandwidth issue? |
19:42 |
sfan5 |
hard to say |
19:42 |
sfan5 |
your disk might be too slow, your network might be too slow, or minetest might just be incorrectly configured |
19:42 |
sfan5 |
that assumes the problem does not lie on the client of course |
19:43 |
aerozoic |
I'm comparing my self-hosted server to the same server hosted on a hosting service. |
19:43 |
aerozoic |
So same client. |
19:44 |
aerozoic |
It's most likely the network. My upload is only 2Mb :( |
19:45 |
Tenplus1 |
you on virgin media ? |
19:45 |

19:45 |
Tenplus1 |
ekk |

tenplus1: my internet here is terrible, so I'll be randomly reconnecting... :-( |
19:46 |
Tenplus1 |
everyone is having issues today, is ok... even mines was down earlier |
19:47 |
aerozoic |
Rollback is annoying me though. It becomes basically useless after a few weeks. |
19:48 |
aerozoic |
The server freezes for even a 60 second rollback. But if i delete the file, it's fine for another couple weeks. |
19:48 |
Tenplus1 |
that's why I disble it and rely on protection, especially on a survival server |
19:48 |
aerozoic |
I mainly use it for myself when i start screwing around with WE, lol |
19:49 |
Tenplus1 |
lol, gotta be careful :P |
19:53 |
aerozoic |
Ok question about compiling MT... |
19:54 |
Tenplus1 |
I asked ubuntu/debian devs why minetest requires python2 as dependency when it's not used |
19:54 |
aerozoic |
If i git clone the tag 0.4.16 and then i want to update to 4.17, do i have to recompile or simply git fetch with the 0.4.17 tag? |
19:54 |
Tenplus1 |
aerozoic: why not just download from stable |
19:55 |
aerozoic |
Welp, i compiled 4.16 a long time ago so that's already done. Now i just don't know if i have to recompile again after i update. |
19:56 |
Tenplus1 |
dunno, I tend to download from stable and install ove rthe top of existing |
19:57 |
aerozoic |
Actually i think i should use git pull instead of fetch. |
19:57 |
Tenplus1 |
:P |
19:57 |
aerozoic |
but idk about recompiling |

aerozoic: You're changing the source code, so yes, you have to recompile |
21:16 |
aerozoic |
thx ssieb, Do i have to delete anything or does the recompile correctly overwrite and remove anything obsolete? |
21:17 |
ssieb |
If the build system is good, then you should just have to recompile. Otherwise, you can do a "make clean" or equivalent. |
21:17 |

doesn't remember off-hand what minetest uses... |
