hey, I've got a nice idea: Maybe we could allow players to download a server's map, modify it, and merge the changes when they connect, if the server allows it? |
10:57 |
lisac |
it would be awesome for offline playing |
10:57 |
lisac |
you could download an area of your favorite server and build stuff |
10:57 |
Calinou |
sounds way too chaotic due to merge conflicts... |
10:57 |
Calinou |
that's just a silly idea, really |
10:57 |
lisac |
:( |
10:57 |
Calinou |
just build while on the server |
10:57 |
Calinou |
it worked fine for Minecraft, it'll work fine for us |

lisac: and if you don't have a network connection and build offline for the time beeing you can still save what you build and send the schematic to the server owner later on who can then integrate it |
15:29 |
Sokomine |
doing that manually will work far better |

hm good idea |

and it's more work. but if someone doesn't have a net connection for a while... |

we've had a crashing issue for some time that results in a serialize.h error from entities, and after much bulletproofing it happened earlier today using the default game and no mods... am hoping it's not a bug in-game |

Hi ten, let me grep my logs for serialize.h |

hi shiva and thanks |

we do have a pull to sanitize entity variables : https://github.com/minetest/minetest/pull/4425 that would definitely help |

or should I just wait until it's out? |

in terminal type: sudo update-manager -d |

and if a new release is available it'll let you uypgrade to it |

Should I do it manually or will be there an application to handle that? |

wait until you see the alpha 1 release for 17.10 in distrowatch.org .. then you'll know it shoudl work ok |

Hey, I had a question |
23:18 |
XtremeHacker |
I want some code to be run when a node is placed, but to stop if the node is removed |
23:18 |
XtremeHacker |
How do I do so? |
23:18 |
XtremeHacker |
I'm thinking it would be on construct, but I'm not sure, and don't know how I would use that |
23:20 |
red-001 |
what are you trying to achive? |
23:21 |
XtremeHacker |
I am making a miner, and want to run some code that will scan a given position, save the nodename to a variable, then set the node to air |
23:21 |
XtremeHacker |
I could use an ABM, but there must be a better way |
23:21 |
red-001 |
nodetimer? |
23:22 |
XtremeHacker |
A friend reccomened that, can't find any good information on it though |
23:22 |
XtremeHacker |
Google doesn't seem to help |
23:26 |
red-001 |
see tnt |
23:26 |
red-001 |
it uses it to time the blast |
23:27 |
XtremeHacker |
OK, thanks, I'll check that out |
23:42 |

saplings have node timers, are probably much more simple |
