sofar: actually dreambuilder is probably larger and slightly more complex now than when it was a subgame. the reason it isn't a subgame is it became impossible for me to reliably track minetest_game updates, even though it should theoretically have been easier. maintaining it as a modpack is trivial by comparison. updating is easy too... a couple of scripts and, *pppttht* done. |
00:34 |
VanessaE |
it was more difficult because dreambuilder modified some stuff in default, and one or two other places, stuff that had a tendency to conflict with mt_game updates |
00:34 |
VanessaE |
now any modifications are done via an extra mod |
00:36 |

(sorry for the delayed response, btw. I was out running errands all afternoon) |

Fixer: updating default does take some thought and research on a server. default is not as consistent as a server owner might wish. textures might disappear, nodes behave diffrently... |
01:34 |
Sokomine |
sofar: libs are already problematic in mt. most modders try to avoid them. it's more difficult for users to install |
01:36 |

Sokomine please open an issue for slow light update and tag juhdanad, he rewrote light updates |
03:41 |
paramat |
Sokomine maybe add it to https://github.com/minetest/minetest/issues/5900 |
03:48 |
Sokomine |
paramat: good idea |
03:56 |
paramat |
but i thought mgvillages did not work at all due to 5900? |
03:57 |
Sokomine |
when the bug occours mt just crashes. it's sometimes possible to still continue playing that world by starting it a few times and flying fast into another direction |
03:57 |
paramat |
anyway, as far as i remember light updates were not made slower by his changes, i think they became faster |
03:57 |
paramat |
ok |
04:02 |
Sokomine |
when i time diffrent operations in the generation code, updating the lighting code often goes up to 500000 microseconds. flatten village area (which tries to keep the ground type) can sometimes also be expensive but is limited to few chunks. repair outer shell also (sometimes) costs. get voxelmanip data is at about 100.000-150.000 most of the time now (i wonder if the resolution was changed) |
04:03 |
Sokomine |
storing data and updading liquids also costs |

and it wouldn't be that useful before we get better mod security and mod transfer. |

lisac: having unified inventory as a csm really sounds like a good idea. that'd finally be some good use of csm. it may only be that many servers will probably restrict csm alltogether |
14:10 |
benrob0329 |
Sokomine: unless they use U_I and need the updates, which will probably only be to the csm fork |

For a standard way for channels and clients to have logs |
15:17 |
Fuchs |
benrob0329: technically yes, as we use atheme and thus everything it provides would be possible. We are, however, not terribly fond of public logs, so it's a bit unlikely that we will add it |
15:18 |
benrob0329 |
I think for some channels it would be nice, perhaps only released to those with a certain role (as per OPs discretion) |

15:20 |

benrob0329: tricky. You could check if atheme already has it, if not submit a feature request to atheme instead, as we try to use mostly upstream atheme with as few changes as possible |
15:20 |
Fuchs |
also I'm a bit afraid of that, given our network size. Either this has to be kept in memory, which is horrible, or on disk, which is also horrible and a bit against our data retention policy |

Why does the stamina mod this dumb condition? if h > hp and hp > 0 and air > 0 ... I get hp > 0 & air > 0 but why does it need to be more than the HP? |
19:14 |
IhrFussel |
have this* |
19:16 |
sofar |
otherwise it would send HP packets when health is unchanged to each client |
19:16 |
IhrFussel |
It makes this setting obsolete STAMINA_HEAL_LVL = 3 because it rarely even goes down to 3 |
19:17 |
IhrFussel |
Then something else must be wrong with the code cause it STOPS healing at 8 or 9 breads |
19:19 |
IhrFussel |
When I remove that part of the condition then it's the correct behavior IMO: It will heal the player until STAMINA_HEAL_LVL = 3 |
19:19 |
benrob0329 |
im going to try hexchat and see if that does dcc better |
19:19 |
benrob0329 |
that compiled quickly |
19:20 |
sofar |
IhrFussel: ahh so |
19:20 |
sofar |
IhrFussel: it's a balance thing, when you're not fully fed, you don't get fully healed |

it forces you to eat early if you want to keep your health at max |
19:21 |
IhrFussel |
sofar, When I have 5 HP and full stamina it heals until 9 or 10 bread then STOPS |
19:21 |
IhrFussel |
I mean 8 or 9* |
19:21 |
sofar |
yes but note that your stamina decreases as you eat |
19:22 |
sofar |
healing stops when your health is more than your stamina |
19:22 |
sofar |
if you want to heal more, eat some more food |
19:22 |
IhrFussel |
Well that's not the behavior I wanted so I changed it to just if h > 4 |
19:22 |
sofar |
you can't waste food with the stamina mod though, it prevents food going to waste |
19:23 |
benrob0329_ |
anyone want to try DCC with hexchat? |
19:23 |
sofar |
IhrFussel: it's open source, you can do that. I won't accept that in a PR though. |
19:24 |
IhrFussel |
sofar, that's fine...so was the comment about sending too many packets wrong and you meant another part of the code? |
19:24 |
sofar |
there are some checks in there (like hp > 0) to prevent extra packets, or healing while dead, yes |
19:25 |
sofar |
I just hadn't read the code yet when I said that |
19:26 |
IhrFussel |
My code is this now, does it waste packets? -- don't heal if drowning or-- TODO: don't heal if poisoned? local h = get_int_attribute(player, "stamina:level") if h > 4 and hp > 0 and hp < 20 and air > 0 |
19:26 |
sofar |
should be fine |

Can someone tell me why the damage mobs deal seems to increase over time in Mobs Redo? |
19:42 |

Like when a player is just standing still in front of the mob the 1st hit will deal 2 hearts and the other after suddenly deal 3 hearts each |
19:51 |
benrob0329_ |
they get a better aim? |
19:53 |
