00:34 paramat BillyS "Is there some way that I could make a minetest map more unified? In other words, still have the normal 31000 map size, but only have a couple biomes?" just 'unregister' all the biomes you don't want, there's an API to unregister single biomes
00:35 paramat working with noise will be far more difficult to tune
00:35 BillyS paramat: I didn't put that well. I want all the normal biomes, I just want them to be bigger
00:35 BillyS And I found out how to
00:35 BillyS I increased the "spread" parameter on mg_biome_np_heat and mg_biome_np_humidity
00:35 paramat and no, altering biomes won't affect terrain
00:36 BillyS Yeah, so it seemed
00:36 BillyS It still looks realistic tho
00:36 BillyS So idrk
00:36 paramat ah
00:36 BillyS Well, realistic for a MT game :P
00:36 paramat correct, just increase the heat/hymidity noise 'spreads'
00:37 paramat *humidity
00:37 BillyS Alright, thanks :)

11:24 humhumhum hello, is Illuna server custom mod collection available to public or not?
11:24 humhumhum I can't find any links to repos but its never expressly mentioned on their site or forum that its closed source
11:31 Emerald2 That would be a question for the illuna admins.
11:31 humhumhum hm k i thought they'd be here
11:32 Emerald2 Some of them but more of them in #illuna
11:32 humhumhum btw why doesn't technic chainsaw support ethereal trees?
11:33 humhumhum it supports default trees, moretrees, some other mod I've never heard of, but not ethereal which is tree mod #2 right after moretrees
11:33 ShadowBot https://github.com/minetest/minetest/issues/2 -- Burned wood
11:33 Emerald2 I've managed to use it on some moretrees in the past, but that was some time ago, so uhh good question.
11:36 Emerald2 OK so looking at github, they added poplar to moretrees last month.
11:36 Emerald2 What trees isn't it cutting?
11:36 humhumhum which is why i'm asking btw, illuna uses modified technic which does support ethereal wood, thought to grab their version but couldnt
11:36 Emerald2 Err I mean they added poplar to the chainsaw in technic last month.
11:36 humhumhum no, not moretrees
11:36 humhumhum ETHEREAL
11:37 Emerald2 Sorry my brain apparently picked up where you said moretrees and missed the ethereal. It's late here.
11:40 humhumhum to work with ethereal technic needs two modifications: chainsaw supporting ethereal trees and rubber tree replacing leaves with unwalkable ones, currently default technic + default ethereal results in rubber tree being the odd one out as its the only tree with leaves you can walk on
11:41 Emerald2 Check this out. https://github.com/h-v-smacker/technic/blob/master/technic/tools/chainsaw.lua#L126
11:42 humhumhum who's this dude, just yesterday you smashed my face into his other repo
11:42 Emerald2 Oh yeah lol. I don't know him.
11:44 Emerald2 He's sure way ahead with technic stuff though.
11:45 humhumhum no wait it was the very same repo yesterday
11:46 humhumhum how am i so stupid
11:46 Emerald2 Oh yeah you're the one I pointed at some HV machines.
11:55 Emerald2 Clearly it's time for me to go to bed. Good luck with your quest. :)

14:58 robdrake Hello, to get the latest Minetest version for my VPS, I had to add a ppa, and am using minetest --server, how do I get the console to open up?
15:01 rubenwardy the interative console?
15:01 rubenwardy you need to compile with ncurses support
15:01 rubenwardy not sure if the PPA does that
15:01 rubenwardy then there's a command line option, use --help to find out
15:08 robdrake ok thanks

20:14 robdrake yeah, used the example
20:14 robdrake not a good idea?
20:15 rubenwardy makes it harder to see what you've changed

20:16 nri rubenwardy: hello, are there any good mods or a way to make a live map for my server?
20:16 nri *interactive map
20:17 rubenwardy robdrake: no need, quickly made this https://gist.github.com/rubenwardy/98aa9965219a02e1af9bb4cfd6ebb934 ( sed '/^#/ d' conf.conf | sed '/^$/d' )
20:17 rubenwardy nri: never done that
20:17 nri oh ok
20:17 nri VE has one
20:18 rubenwardy that's leaflet
20:18 rubenwardy not live
20:18 rubenwardy it updates daily
20:18 nri oh ok
20:18 rubenwardy this looks like a live map: https://forum.minetest.net/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=21999
20:18 rubenwardy not sure on stability
20:18 nri thnx
20:20 rubenwardy robdrake: you could try passing in name using --name draker to the minetest command
20:20 nri i have tryed that before it did not work
20:20 robdrake oh? I'll try that
20:20 robdrake thanks for the help
20:21 rubenwardy oh also, you have to sign in using the Minetest at least once before using the ncurses console
20:21 rubenwardy if you're the same person
20:22 robdrake oh
20:22 VanessaE rubenwardy: my maps update weekly.
20:29 robdrake rubenwardy, I found out the stoppage only happens with the --terminal option
20:29 robdrake but if the server starts, there is no admin
20:29 Emerald2 Aww rubenwardy beat me to pandorabox dude's mapserver. :P
20:30 robdrake also, when connected to the server, the /admin command shows .
20:31 robdrake and --name was an invalid option

20:33 Emerald2 nri: you tried it when and it didn't work how?
20:35 robdrake so 0.4 is the only stable branch?
20:35 robdrake not 5.1?
20:37 clavi 5.0 is stable atm
20:37 Emerald2 5.0.1 is the current stable I believe.
20:37 clavi yes
20:38 clavi latest bugfix release for 5.0 branch
20:38 Emerald2 Bugfix release for 5.0
20:38 clavi 5.1 is dev branch
20:40 clavi 0.4(.17.1) is oldstable so to speak
20:40 clavi actually not cause I don't think there'll be bug fixes for the old 0.4 branch anymore
20:42 robdrake trying to get a ubuntu install of 5.0.1, the package names are a little confusing and not found
