does fake grass die when covered? can it feed sheep? |

and doesn't allow flowers et al. to sprout on it. |

Hi. Any idea why minetest.override_item("__builtin:item", { ... }) thinks it's overriding a non-existing item? |
10:58 |
Taoki |
How do I work around that also? I have a mod which needs to add a custom parameter to all dropped items. |
10:59 |
WSDguy2014 |
its just a minetest.conf |
10:59 |
WSDguy2014 |
using file example |
10:59 |
Taoki |
Oh, wait... it might be an entitity instead? |
10:59 |
Taoki |
The definition that is, dropped items are of course entities. |
11:00 |
WSDguy2014 |
i am trying to change language on minetest.conf, saving and dosen't work :| |
11:02 |
cornernote |
Taoki - http://dev.minetest.net/minetest.handle_node_drops ? |
11:03 |
Taoki |
cornernote: Does minetest.handle_node_drops return the entity of the drop as well? It doesn't seem to... |
11:03 |
Taoki |
"drops" is a list of itemstrings |
11:03 |
Taoki |
Which I think is different |
11:07 |
cornernote |
Taoki, this handles the code that would usually put the item into the players inventory |

Taoki, what property do you want to alter ? |
11:17 |
Taoki |
I need to add a custom property |
11:17 |
cornernote |
which should only be in the instance of the item that dropped ? |
11:17 |
cornernote |
and not in all instances of that item, right ? |
11:18 |
cornernote |
once its in your inv, its not really an item... its part of an itemstack |
11:18 |
Taoki |
It should exist for any and every dropped item entity |
11:19 |
cornernote |
so /giveme some_item wont have this property... but if you dig a node then that will have it ? |
11:19 |
cornernote |
i dont know that it can be done, because items in your inv are an ItemStack, not an item |

WSDguy2014: windows hides file name extensions by default which is horrible. Disable that in your explorer "folder options" |
11:20 |
Taoki |
cornernote: I think /giveme adds items to a player's inventory directly. I'm only interested for dropped item entities in the world (on the ground) |
11:20 |
kahrl |
WSDguy2014: so if explorer shows a file "minetest.conf" of type "example" it's really a file called minetest.conf.example |
11:20 |
Taoki |
But yeah, don't think this is easily possible either. |
11:20 |
wilkgr |
to the inventory |
11:20 |
Taoki |
No worries, there are workarounds for what I'm doing |
11:21 |
wilkgr |
maybe add a /drop command |
11:21 |
wilkgr |
hang on a sec |
11:21 |
WSDguy2014 |
kahrl, yeah, i i am using with notepad to change language |
11:22 |
cornernote |
yeah, the problem is that once it's an ItemStack... who knows if it came from a dig or a /giveme |
11:22 |
kahrl |
WSDguy2014: it doesn't matter which program you are using to edit it. You are writing to the wrong file |
11:22 |
cornernote |
an ItemStack is like 10x dirt ... maybe 3x of those came from digs and 7x came from /giveme .. you cant set a property on 3 of them, because it's 1 stack |
11:22 |
wilkgr |
to make a drop, use the minetest.item_drop function.... http://dev.minetest.net/minetest.item_drop |
11:23 |
WSDguy2014 |
kahrl: how i do use to edit with minetest.conf.example? |
11:23 |
kahrl |
WSDguy2014: first disable that option that hides file name extensions |
11:24 |
WSDguy2014 |
i hided from minetest.conf,example |
11:24 |
kahrl |
? |
11:26 |
WSDguy2014 |
i hided thing with properties |
11:26 |
wilkgr |
the file extension? |
11:27 |
kahrl |
you mean you set the minetest.conf.example file to hidden? |
11:27 |
kahrl |
you don't need to do that |
11:28 |
WSDguy2014 |
i don't know to use the file extension |
11:29 |
kahrl |
WSDguy2014: windows key + r and from there run the following command: reg add HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced /v HideFileExt /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f |
11:29 |
kahrl |
you may have to reboot after that |
11:30 |

restart the computer? |

then go to the minetest folder once again |

<Segfault22> no way to copy from minetest chat because some devs thought that we shouldnt have that as a feature -- but FALLING THROUGH THE CORNERS OF BLOCKS is just fine and dandy |

Hello, I am trying to build from source a minetest server. I have been following the build instructions for Linux in the README.txt and I hit problems finding the configuration file that is suppose to be provided by GMP package. I have googles about for a solution to no avail and I would really love to be able to get a solution, thank you in advance for any help or suggestion you may provide :) |

thank you, however I did install all the dependecies on line105 of the README.txt, GMP for development I can confirm install.. The actual error creating my build is the location of a cmake config file for GMP. Thank you once again, I hope I have made myself a little more clear :) |
