Shouldn't `default:sandstonebrick` be named `default:sandstone_brick`? It's a little weird compared to `default:desert_sandstone_brick` |
00:20 |
VanessaE |
there are a few nodes here and there that ended up "wrong", kind of as matter of legacy |
00:20 |
VanessaE |
like mossycobble, imho ought to be cobble_mossy |
00:21 |
VanessaE |
(I try in my mods to go for modname:itemclass_variant_subvariant_... ) |
00:21 |
LoneWolfHT |
ah |
00:21 |
LoneWolfHT |
Just noticed it's the same for `default:stonebrick` |
00:21 |
VanessaE |
there's nothing really preventing them being renamed more properly, of course. that's what aliases are for |

submit a pull request against mtg (and pray it gets merged :P ) |

Oh, well I'm busy so... /s |

I'll see if I can get around to it eventually lol |

08:50 |
ANAND |
luk3yx: Thanks, but none of my texture packs are listed in the content tab, for some reason |
08:50 |
luk3yx |
Ouch, are you sure they're in the right directory? |
08:53 |
ANAND |
Yes |
08:53 |
ANAND |
They were detected until 0.4.17 |
08:54 |
luk3yx |
Weird |
08:54 |
ANAND |
Nvm, the issue was due to a bad symlink, sorry |

And.. it works now. lol |

Many formspec behaviour modifications are implemented using extra tags (e.g. real_coordinates[], style[]), which is to retain backwards compat. if I'm not mistaken. If that's indeed the case, how do older clients handle unknown formspec elements? |
15:09 |
|
pauloue joined #minetest-hub |
15:09 |
LoneWolfHT |
Maybe they don't? |
15:13 |
ANAND |
You mean they just ignore unknown formspec elements? |
15:13 |
LoneWolfHT |
Yeah |
15:15 |
ANAND |
Hmm, thought so. Hopefully, they do throw warnings, instead of quietly ignoring. |
15:16 |
ANAND |
I'm happy to see so many improvements and enhancements to formspecs |
15:17 |
ANAND |
That too without breaking older clients - bc that's precisely what prevents a complete replacement of formspecs. |

What's a "dedicated server"? https://www.strawpoll.me/18240321 |
16:45 |
Krock |
Random question. Please don't spoil if you know it |
16:46 |
LoneWolfHT |
heh |
16:47 |
Krock |
FYI: before the icons in the server list, it was marked as an asterisk (IIRC) |
16:47 |
VanessaE |
Krock: aww, you left out the "Cowboy Neal" option |
16:48 |
Krock |
VanessaE: looked up Wikipedia just to notice that I have never heard of him or the books |
16:49 |
VanessaE |
it's a reference to the old days on Slashdotr |
16:49 |
VanessaE |
-r |
16:49 |
VanessaE |
he was a user there, and most polls would have some option referencing him |
16:50 |
VanessaE |
i.e. if there was a poll about what kinds of phones people use, you'd have a list of brands/models, and then his option, which would probably be something like "CowboyNeal handles all my phone calls" or something equally silly |
16:50 |
Krock |
lol okay. That's a trend which I didn't experience |
16:50 |
VanessaE |
(in a Minetest context, naturally it would be c55) |

as I can see. The majority was right. https://github.com/minetest/minetest/blob/master/src/main.cpp#L198-L201 congrats |
17:13 |
Krock |
rubenwardy: is that an intended false spoiler or an answer based on code research? |
17:13 |
rubenwardy |
A dedicated server is one with no hosting client attached |
17:14 |
rubenwardy |
Ie: it's dedicated |
17:14 |
Krock |
which happens to be on --server |
17:14 |
rubenwardy |
--server is a command to start one |
17:14 |
rubenwardy |
But you can also use minetestserver |
17:14 |
Krock |
thought about adding that, but it would be equivalent to minetest --serevr |
17:14 |
Krock |
*--server |
17:15 |
Krock |
and the answer would look way too obvious with such a precise answer |
17:15 |
Krock |
s/the answer/it/ |
17:27 |
rubenwardy |
Well, I voted for that anyway |
