00:10 shivajiva I'm wondering where I got that version of irc_commands from on skyblocks, it's pre June 2016 :')

08:07 MinetestBot jas_: No results

08:10 jas_ i think it'd be nice to see a hover text for the server's MOTD on servers.minetest.net.  though, i don't think most servers change this field often...
08:35 sfan5 motd is not sent to the server list, so this is not possible without engine changes
08:36 rubenwardy not sure the use, given that there's server_description
08:49 nerzhul joined #minetest-hub
08:49 VanessaE an image (e.g. a screenshot of the server spawn) on hover would be more useful
08:50 VanessaE (leave it up to the server admin to create said image)
09:03 jas_ oh, i see.  didn't know that about motd
09:39 jas_ i'm not sure the use either, but i thought it would make the motd field more interesting, and possibly more useful itself
09:40 jas_ and i imagine there could be a tab on main menu that showed it, beyond server_description
09:40 jas_ just thoughts anyways
09:41 jas_ the description i would think does not change, where 'message of the day' might change, at least more than description.
09:43 jas_ now, /set command is pretty useless on a client connected to a server where they don't have server priv, maybe that's obvious
09:43 jas_ but that should only apply for actually setting the set
09:43 jas_ eg /set motd without argument displays it
09:44 jas_ which would be useful, very useful, for a client.  but this is not possible.  anyway, that's all.

12:37 CWz question does anybody know why and how a priv could get deregistered while the server is running
12:37 CWz this seems to happen to often for reasons i don't know
12:38 CWz all privs seem to get unregistered except for the default privs
12:42 EvergreenTree joined #minetest-hub
12:49 CWz also found this suspcious thing in chat while looking at my server logs
12:49 CWz https://pastebin.com/ULjjBwVK
12:49 CWz what is this guy doing?
12:50 sfan5 some sort of chat "encryption"
12:51 aerozoic joined #minetest-hub
12:52 CWz Huh?
13:03 Fixer joined #minetest-hub
13:03 Calinou heh
13:03 Calinou yeah, I see rot13() calls
13:03 Calinou why are they PMing to themselves?
13:03 Calinou is it for the CSM that  runs Lua code on the client?
13:09 CWz no idea
13:18 lisac CWz: one possibility is that it was meant for you
13:19 CWz Hmm maybe he said something and i forgot
13:21 Raven262 Well you do have the logs, right?
13:27 lisac "@uv" is "@hi"
13:29 Raven262 But the rest makes no sense :P
13:29 Raven262 CWz, Is there any more?
13:32 CWz that is all he said in the PMs to himself
13:33 Raven262 Odd, only the "hi" line makes any sense. Next two ones translate into each other. Last two, no idea.
13:36 CWz he did say a few @ crap in chat. not sure if this is anything dangerous. i probably wouldn't have noticed if i wasn't looking up another problem.

17:09 Sokomine v7 somehow isn't the most promising mapgen when looking for flat land...
17:21 Fixer Carpathian is
17:24 IhrFussel joined #minetest-hub
17:37 Sokomine fixer: yes, that's right. based on what i've seen so far of carpathian, it might as well get my new favorite mapgen. i personally don't like those too crazy ones with excessive overhangs and too steep mountains. they do generate intresting scenery but are not ideal for building in
17:38 red-001 Raven262, well you know if you run rot13 more the once it's way more secure
17:40 red-001 !seen quater

18:35 IhrFussel It seems that many people still don't understand what /clearobjects quick actually does: They think it will ONLY clear objects in currently loaded map areas which is only half of the feature... it will also clear objects in all other map areas as soon as those get loaded
18:37 IhrFussel So there is absolutely no point in sending the command several times like mentioned here  https://forum.minetest.net/viewtopic.php?p=308479#p308479
18:41 rubenwardy really /clearobjects should default to quick
18:42 IhrFussel rubenwardy, there should at least a prompt to confirm the full mode plus a message that tells the server owner that it could take a really long time
18:43 IhrFussel But quick mode as default sounds good
18:44 IhrFussel Less error prone if you have to type full yourself if you really need the full mode
18:46 IhrFussel worldedit uses //clearobjects and I really dislike to use that command because if I forget one slash I will start something bad
18:48 IhrFussel Well "bad" ... not sure if it's 100% safe to kill minetestserver while it clears objects
18:51 Shara A /clearobjects on my server would likely be a death sentence :)
18:52 Shara I should probably just override the command so all it does is print "Nope, not happening"
18:53 rubenwardy lol
18:54 Raven262 red-001, How?
18:54 Raven262 Oh and btw, is that present in the code that was posted?
18:54 Raven262 Since many of those lines make no sense.
18:58 IhrFussel Shara, but sometimes you need //clearobjects from WE cause objects tend to glitch in some way or another x/ and that's where the biggest danger lies (if you don't overwrite /clearobjects)
18:59 Shara Fussel, I have no issues with //clearobjects.. and that's exactly why I'm saying I should override /clearobjects
19:00 IhrFussel I didn't say it's an issue ... but it's one slash away from clearing everything on the server which makes the command risky...
19:00 Shara I'm not sure what your point is anyway.
19:01 Shara You just seem to be explaining why I said what I said
19:01 IhrFussel Overwriting default commands shouldn't be necessary...this is my point
19:02 Krock joined #minetest-hub
19:02 Shara I haven't said it should be
19:02 IhrFussel They could just add a simple "Are you sure you want to do this?" prompt for /clearobjects
19:02 red-001 Raven262, it's a joke
19:02 red-001 running rot13 twice just decodoes the message
19:02 Shara Fussel, issue/PR then?
19:04 IhrFussel I would even argue that the prompt should be shown in both cases /clearobjects and /clearobjects quick ... quick is not as bad as full but it still immediately removes certain objects without warning
19:05 red-001 it's the it's the bases of a very secure crypter known as rot26
19:10 IhrFussel I hope it's correctly described https://github.com/minetest/minetest/issues/6918
19:11 Krock run it three times for the superior encryption. also works the same way with others like sha1 or md5
19:11 Krock whereas the latter two need at least a million calls to make it slow and somewhat encrypted /s
19:12 red-001 yeah all my important documents are tripple md5 encrypted
19:12 red-001 kinda cool how it also compressed them while it was at it
19:13 red-001 thats the sort of software we need to see more of
19:19 red-001 is that the one with a picture frame on a rubber string?
19:20 rubenwardy Krock is r/programmerhumor but with an offset of a few days
19:20 IhrFussel Removed formspec as prompt option ... I may have typed something without thinking further about it
19:22 Krock rubenwardy, yeah.. can happen sometimes when I'm quite busy and have to catch up on subreddits that I couldn't read :3
19:22 rubenwardy XD
19:22 Krock this time it was about a 24h delay
19:22 rubenwardy it's fine :D
19:23 IhrFussel Shara, can you still say "prompt" if it's just a chat message?
19:23 rubenwardy do you know about  r/programmerhumour?
19:23 rubenwardy it's r/programmerhumor, but with correct spelling
19:23 Krock yes, it redirects to r/ProgrammerHumor
19:23 red-001 less content
19:23 red-001 due to all the mericans, at least iirc
19:23 rubenwardy oh, there's weird CSS+HTML
19:24 rubenwardy you don't get that on mobile
19:24 red-001 lol what?
19:24 rubenwardy https://www.reddit.com/r/ProgrammerHumour/
19:24 red-001 I didn't know you could redirect people with css...
19:24 rubenwardy no
19:24 rubenwardy it's a big link
19:24 red-001 oh ok
19:24 red-001 I have subreddit css turned off
19:25 red-001 there is almost never a good reason for it
19:25 red-001 and it's often annoying
19:25 rubenwardy yeah
19:25 rubenwardy agreed
19:25 rubenwardy wish the default CSS was better though
19:25 Krock "correct" as in US/UK spellings
19:25 IhrFussel Shara, got my answer, asked in ##English =P
19:26 Shara And what answer did they give?
19:26 Krock joined #minetest-hub
19:27 red-001 [https://i.redd.it/u3ng4thd60dz.jpg]
19:27 red-001 just 5 months late
19:28 IhrFussel Shara, "any kind of message could be a prompt reply. Or a prompt to action."
19:28 Krock Same as "You won't make any errors if you don't know what to do"
19:29 red-001 https://i.redd.it/mp24izcmm9az.jpg
19:29 red-001 huh that's pretty interesting
19:41 Raven262 Ah I get it, red-001, rot13 moves each character by 13 spaces in a 26 character table.
19:41 Raven262 YOu and your 26 letter alphabet.
19:41 Raven262 Otherwise I would get the joke.
20:13 Fixer red-001: thats why I don't write any code
20:13 rubenwardy Fixer doesn't make any bugs
20:13 Fixer I"M USEFUL
20:20 Fixer sheepdog o_O
20:20 rubenwardy Fixer has a negative net contribution to bugs
20:21 Fixer wuzzy has ridiculous amount of bugreports

20:23 Wayward_One hi all :)
20:24 Fixer hi
20:26 Calinou hi!
20:51 Calinou my VPS has 122 days of uptime, here's the top-CPU-time-using processes: https://lut.im/YEhlysOKPl/zQV6ZlihKjyKEHLf.png
20:51 Calinou compiling to JavaScript via Emscripten clearly is the future
21:00 Sokomine Calinou: i don't like js at all due to its annoying usage on many websites
21:01 Sokomine btw, still looking for good ships, shipwrecks, underwater ruins and the like. spawning ships on water is fun
21:02 Sokomine i just fear that those huge armadas will have quite a lot of accidents should the ships ever try to actually move anywhere :-)
