01:47 Guest77 hi
01:53 Guest77 anyone there?
01:54 MTDiscord <Jonathon> no, not at all
01:55 Guest77 oh
01:55 Guest77 I am confused
01:57 MTDiscord <Warr1024> I'd be confused too, if I weren't not here.
02:02 Emerald2 What's up, Guest77?
04:24 Guest77 was interested in talking about the game
04:24 Guest77 maybe see if anyone may have ideas on how to maybe do some stuff
04:25 MTDiscord <Jonathon> the game, what game
04:30 Guest77 the one called minetest
04:30 Guest77 that this channel may be named after
04:31 MTDiscord <Jonathon> if your refering to minetest game, that is in matainance mode and is not excepting new features
04:31 MTDiscord <Jonathon> minetest is a engine
04:32 Guest77 so uh
04:32 Guest77 what is this channel for?
04:32 MTDiscord <Jonathon> minetest engine
04:32 Guest77 how would one talk about that?
04:33 MTDiscord <Jonathon> uh, you could read irc.minetest.net for previous irc logs of this channel.....
04:33 Guest77 what would that do for me
04:35 Guest77 isnt the thing a person does with this game is put mods into it and do stuff?
04:35 Guest77 and engine is for a game right
04:35 Guest77 to have fun
04:35 MTDiscord <Jonathon> minetest engine has multiple games people have built on it
04:35 Guest77 well uh
04:35 MTDiscord <Jonathon> https://content.minetest.net/packages/?type=game
04:36 Guest77 I must not be talking about those
04:36 Guest77 I am not sure what is available to discuss then
04:37 Guest77 the place that sent me here said this was for casual discussion for everything minetest
04:37 Guest77 what does everything minetest mean
04:38 Guest77 and what does casual discussion mean
04:39 Guest77 I assume that may mean that I can try to talk about anything that may appear in some relation to anything called minetest?
04:42 Guest77 yes no maybe so
04:45 Guest77 so uh
04:45 Guest77 like
04:46 Guest77 could I maybe ask questions about
04:46 Guest77 modding
04:46 Guest77 things
04:46 Guest77 if people may know more than me
04:47 Guest77 like for example there is fire and I was wondering if it may be possible to make things that get burned by fire leave a burned appearance
04:47 Guest77 of some sort
04:48 Guest77 and of course I may not have much idea of how to do such a thing at the moment
04:48 Guest77 it may be quite complicated you know
04:58 MTDiscord <Warr1024> In the minetest channels we talk about minetest, and theoretically any games, mods, or other packages etc for it. Some major packages have their own dedicated channels, but not all do.
04:59 Guest77 cause I just sort of wanted to keep it simple and try to build toward something that may be interesting to me
04:59 Guest77 so I am working with the "minetest game" I guess
05:00 Guest77 I have managed to find much help from the forum and a guy on there and he has given me things that have helped create some stuff that I have wanted
05:01 Guest77 and I mean
05:01 MTDiscord <Warr1024> the whole "minetest" vs "minetest game" thing is a bit of a mess because minetest is not quite a game but not quite an engine, and it's sort of in transition and it's hard to know exactly how we SHOULD talk about it.
05:01 Guest77 I wouldnt want these things to just be for my own enjoyment
05:02 MTDiscord <Warr1024> Minetest wants to be more than just a game, i.e. an engine and game distribution system, but it's not entirely ready to throw off the "defaultness" of minetest_game, even though it's put it into a maintenance-only state already.
05:02 Guest77 I would say what I am working with is all sort of a mess so I am not sure what I would call it either
05:02 Guest77 but I guess I am trying to make it less of a mess
05:03 MTDiscord <Warr1024> minetest_game plus a bunch of mods is now a lot of people play, though that's often called (somewhat pejoratively) "mod soup". Some server operators curate a very carefully integrated set of mods and make it work, but it's hard work maintaining a pack of them that's properly balanced.
05:03 Guest77 and fun to play at least for me? but then why would somebody help me of they wouldnt get anything out of it...
05:04 Guest77 maybe I was thinking if we could try to work together then we could find ways to help eachother have fun
05:04 Guest77 perhaps
05:04 MTDiscord <Warr1024> There are other games that take different approaches. the MineClone forks try to reproduce certain versions of Minecraft. NodeCore is a sort of original game that takes the minecraft-ish concept in a very different direction. There are also minigames like box world 3d that are conceptually interesting (though usually short and needing more content)
05:04 Guest77 and maybe some ideas may be interest to people
05:05 MTDiscord <Warr1024> Heh, well, I already maintain NodeCore so my plate is a bit full with that :-)
05:06 Guest77 like I shared some ideas I had on the forum and this guy made some mods for it and it seemed to be interesting to more people than just myself
05:07 Guest77 I seem to like sandboxy elements
05:11 Guest77 if there was a server that had things I would find interesting then I would play on it as well
05:12 Guest77 I seem to have difficulty getting my own server to show up
14:52 Fixer Krock your mod search seems down
14:55 Fixer Krock nevermind found it :D
16:49 ghoti Is there a way to cause a mesecons_commandblock to force something in to the debug.txt log? I would like a record of people who activate it with a button.
18:11 BuckarooBanzai cheapie: the level of detail on your TV exhibit is awesome :O (i mean the things behind the scenes)
22:05 IceDragon `
22:05 IceDragon ... don't mind me, wrong console, I hope everyone had a nice day
23:00 cheapie [12:11:14] <BuckarooBanzai> cheapie: the level of detail on your TV exhibit is awesome :O (i mean the things behind the scenes)
23:00 cheapie I did have a lot of fun with the decorative parts of that, yes :P
23:01 cheapie The code was kinda fun to do too, lots of the things I tried out in there ended up making it into the digistuff GPU.
23:10 cheapie I should also mention - the example you have set up with the "direct connection" of the I/O expanders is not exactly a supported configuration and does tend to have some... issues - it's one of those things that was never actually intended to work, and it just so happens that it usually mostly does.
