Simplest solution is that she can try to download my EXEs. 03:57 OldCoder http://minetest.org/ is me 03:57 OldCoder The site is very out of date and incomplete 03:57 OldCoder But there are some EXEs perhaps 6 months old near the top 03:57 OldCoder Might work 03:57 OldCoder Plus I'll rebuild them in May 03:59 redblade is that when 0.4.14 comes out? 04:33 sofar redblade: github hosts all sort of proxy and vpn software projects, the reason that github is block in china 04:36 redblade ok 04:37 redblade well thank you for telling me, next time she logs on i'll download and upload the installer somewere else 04:37 redblade i gotta go byet 09:18 MinetestBot 02[git] 04sofar -> 03minetest/minetest: Add option to disable entity selectionboxes. (#3992) 13180e9a1 https://git.io/vwfIq (152016-04-14T11:15:41+02:00) 09:27 MinetestBot 02[git] 04TriBlade9 -> 03minetest/minetest: Add option to disable entity selectionboxes. (#3992) 136530ed4 https://git.io/vwftt (152016-04-14T11:20:11+02:00) 16:26 Calinou trying to make a 64-bit VS2015 build of Minetest 16:26 Calinou it is not possible to compile gettext using Visual Studio? 16:29 Calinou also what's the difference between CURL_LIBRARY and CURL_DLL in CMake? 16:36 Calinou hooray! compiled cURL in 64-bit with VS2015 16:43 sfan5 Calinou: CURL_LIBRARY is some kind of .lib or whatever microsoft came up with and CURL_DLL is the .dll 16:45 Calinou yeah it's .lib, I found out 16:56 Calinou installing DirectX SDK for Irrlicht compilation... 16:57 Calinou it's a 572 MB download :| 17:03 Krock Congrats, Calinou! 17:05 Krock I found the DX libraries with their header files on github - not sure if they would work for 64-bit too 17:05 Krock that were less than 5 MB IIRC 17:05 Calinou okay, with the .lib files it shows more options now, including the need for SQLite3 17:05 Calinou and LevelDB/Redis if I figure it out 17:05 Calinou and Lua/LuaJIT 17:06 Krock LuaJIT isn't a thing. There's a batch file that can be executed and it does everything for you 17:07 Calinou by the way, which version of Lua do I need for Minetest? can I use 5.3.2 or should I use 5.1 series? 17:09 Krock 5.1 I'd say. So the mod creators can't use new features that aren't working on LuaJIT 17:09 Krock but that's just my opinion 17:09 Calinou I built LuaJIT successfully 17:09 Krock \o/ 17:10 Calinou do I need both Lua and LuaJIT or just LuaJIT, Krock? 17:17 Calinou I managed to build a Lua .exe, except that I want a .dll :p 17:18 Calinou found how to make a DLL 17:22 Krock Calinou, just LuaJIT 17:22 Calinou ok 17:22 Krock the exe file is a candy on top of it 17:22 Krock to run scripts directly from a console 17:22 Calinou Krock, do I point the Lua CMake stuff to LuaJIT then? 17:22 Krock yep 17:23 Fritz2 hello 17:25 Krock hi 17:26 Calinou Irrlicht compilation was a success! :) 17:28 Fritz2 good 17:29 Fritz2 when will the 0.4.14 of minetest be relased? 17:29 Krock God only knows 17:30 Fritz2 alright 17:30 Fritz2 bye 17:56 Calinou Krock, build is successful but linking fails with SQLite3 :( 17:57 Calinou LNK2001 unresolved external symbol __imp__beginthreadex 17:57 Calinou something like that ^ 17:57 Calinou maybe because I compiled the amalgamated build? 17:58 sfan5 no that shouldn't cause problems 18:22 Calinou I got an .exe :) 18:26 Calinou the .exe runs fine 18:45 Calinou now it has Freetype 19:08 Markow Calinou: Congrats on the VB compilation! 19:09 Markow I mean VC 20:16 Preuk hello 20:16 betterthanyou710 hey 20:17 Preuk is there any nightly build for windows? 20:18 Preuk i can build latest on linux, but i don't have the stuff to compile it on my windows box 20:19 PilzAdam there are recent builds for windows in the forums 20:19 Preuk ok thanks 20:20 PilzAdam https://forum.minetest.net/viewforum.php?f=42&sid=53294651ce11443f73e89ca14dd9c341 20:20 PilzAdam they are not exactly "nightly", though 20:21 PilzAdam sfan5, maybe add an RSS feed for your builds? 20:21 sfan5 too much work 20:22 PilzAdam why? do you manually update https://minetest.kitsunemimi.pw/builds/ ? 20:27 Krock it's kinda horrible that changing a single line in the source code allows a player to fly and noclip everyhere 20:28 Calinou Krock, server-side noclip enforcement will soon be added, probably not in 0.4.14 though 20:28 Calinou server-side movement is just not doable for a game like Minetest 20:29 Krock yeah. Anticheat-like stuff isn't easy to do. Lag is uncalculateable 20:29 Calinou it is possible to know a client's ping 20:29 Calinou but Minetest's network protocol is not really well designed for low latency... 20:32 Krock and a friend of mine stays with the version 0.4.10 or 11 because there was no timeout detection. His connection is so slow that the received data packs stacked into nowhere that took about 60s to get received completely. What a stange world 20:32 Krock *incoming data packets 20:37 sfan5 PilzAdam: i'd have to figure out how to make an rss feed 20:38 PilzAdam sfan5, it's a simple XML 20:38 sfan5 i still need to figure it out 20:38 sfan5 even if its simple 20:38 Krock http://www.wikihow.com/Create-an-RSS-Feed 20:38 Krock but that site gives cancer 20:38 Krock using m$ notepad to program :< 20:40 Krock seems like my builds are too unpopular to get a RSS feed 20:52 sofar sfan5: just look at e.g. http://rss.slashdot.org/Slashdot/slashdotMain or some other feed 20:53 sofar sfan5: it's quite trivial to generate even with basic php or other scripting language 21:10 abuk how can i change view distance on windows version of minetest 0.4.13 ? 21:10 PilzAdam + and - keys 21:13 abuk what about fog? 21:15 sofar F3 21:17 Krock settings menu -> disable fog 21:26 abuk how can i decrease the view distance even lower than 5 distance seems still too far 21:27 Krock everything below 16 is BAD 21:27 Krock don't worry. You don't need glasses for a larger viewing range. It's on a 2D-screen 21:28 sofar why do you want to reduce it that much? 21:28 abuk for better performance 21:28 Krock F4 sohuld disable camera updates 21:28 Krock so try that one. Walk away and you'll soon have a viewing distance of 0 21:29 Krock VBOs were added after the last stable, right? So using an in-dev build might give you an FPS boost too 21:32 Krock abuk, https://forum.minetest.net/viewtopic.php?p=212880#p212880 21:34 PilzAdam abuk, if you can't even handle a viewing range of 5 then this game might not be the best for you 21:35 PilzAdam Krock, VBOs generally only boost performance on higher-end GPUs 21:35 sofar abuk: out of curiosity, what kind of computer do you have? cpu/gpu? 21:35 Krock PilzAdam, then it it was just an imagination 21:35 Krock from my side 21:36 PilzAdam sofar, probably a toaster 21:36 Krock a fridge 21:37 sofar PilzAdam: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00GYKQEGE/ref=sr_acs_va_item_0?ie=UTF8&qid=1460669831&sr=8-2-acs could probably run minetest on this 21:37 abuk thats how it looks like at 1 render view distance strange? 21:37 abuk http://postimg.org/image/5v45d55q7/ 21:38 sofar abuk: what kind of computer is it? 21:38 Krock lol. Must be a variant of android app then. It doesn't seem to have a mouse 21:38 sofar opengl-3.1.0, hmmm 21:38 Krock abuk, hit "R" to disable the full view distance 21:39 PilzAdam and hit F5 to show actual FPS 21:39 sofar abuk: is "the game too slow" or "you want just more FPS" ? 21:39 Krock perhaps too slow. Who in the world would want to play with a view range of 16? o.o 21:40 abuk if i hit R it increases the view distance actualy i dont realy want more fps just less cpu usage so that it doesnt go over 70 degres 21:41 ShadowNinja I've got MT for Android running in an emulator at ~50 FPS :-D 21:41 sofar abuk: do you answer questions? 21:41 sofar ohhh 21:41 sofar overheating 21:41 Krock ShadowNinja, no problem if you have the hardware for it.. 21:41 sofar abuk: reduce your max FPS 21:42 sofar abuk: go into settings -> advanced 21:42 sofar find the "max fps" setting 21:42 ShadowNinja Krock: This is on a laptop running an Ivy Bridge i5. 21:42 sofar and set it to 30, ... 20 ... 15 ... 21:42 PilzAdam sofar, advanced settings don't exist in 0.4.13 21:42 Krock I solved the overheating in another way. Installed the clock utility tool to configure the core voltage and clock multiplier 21:43 abuk yep no advanced settings 21:43 sofar PilzAdam: minetest.conf sure had it, right? 21:43 PilzAdam 70 degrees isn't really overheating, though 21:43 PilzAdam sofar, sure 21:43 abuk i prefer to not go over 70 21:43 Krock ShadowNinja, those 50 FPS were measured in singleplayer in idle state, right? 21:43 sofar abuk: https://github.com/minetest/minetest/blob/0.4.13/minetest.conf.example#L74 21:43 ShadowNinja Krock: Multiplayer, mostly idle. 21:44 sofar fps_max = [number] 21:44 sofar start with 30, reduce it until you're happy 21:44 ShadowNinja Krock: I managed to do it by compiling the app for x86. The x86 emulators get hardware acceleration and can run at near-real-speed. 21:45 ShadowNinja First-time startup asset extraction was maybe 1s total. 21:45 Krock Ooh. Neat 21:46 ShadowNinja It should also be translated now, if I can slow it down enough to see the messages... 23:50 LinuxGuy2020 Hey guys I have a mini itx NAS box running NAS4Free operating system. Is there a way to host the files on the NAS and just start the server manually for LAN play in the house? Right now I have SMB and FTP enabled for use if those will work or if I need some other service I can see if I have it available. I could start the server on my machine and point it to the NAS address and then other LAN machines would connect to my machine is th 23:50 LinuxGuy2020 Its a low spec NAS box so running a virtualbox session and actual minetest server on it are too slow to be useable that way. 23:56 sofar you can run minetestserver with --world and point it to a specific path for the world files 23:58 LinuxGuy2020 sofar: WOuld it have to be a path on the local machine only or can you specify a server path like the ip address and all that? 23:59 sofar minetest doesn't speak smb 23:59 sofar it needs to be mounted
