<mark.wiemer> I can work on links tmrw, gonna enjoy my Saturday. Others are welcome to do it instead, it really is just case-changing and regex replacing. There is a VS Code extension for case changing, again not at my PC tho |

<mark.wiemer> Got bored, gonna work on links now 🙂 |

<mark.wiemer> Do we have or want any item for just a standard "comprehensive review of materials"? I'm seeing a lot of typos and poorly-formatted sections. I think we should systematically go through each file to make sure it meets some basic quality bar for typos and formatting. Later we can look at a full style guide and do a second pass but for now basic formatting would be great |

MTDiscord |
<wsor4035> i mean, feel free, but that probably should be its own pr |
01:38 |
MTDiscord |
<wsor4035> dunno if something like prettier, biome, etc can enforcing text formatting? |
01:38 |
MTDiscord |
<wsor4035> those two examples are for code |
01:39 |
MTDiscord |
<mark.wiemer> Prettier can enforce text formatting |
01:39 |
MTDiscord |
<mark.wiemer> Yes of course it'll be its own PR |
01:40 |
MTDiscord |
<mark.wiemer> It'll be a large batch of PRs, honestly |
01:40 |
MTDiscord |
<mark.wiemer> but I'm looking less at code-level formatting and more at "table vs list" formatting, more human-oriented design changes |
01:40 |
MTDiscord |
<mark.wiemer> Problem is I'm busy fixing links rn 😄 |
01:40 |
MTDiscord |
<mark.wiemer> Also, thoughts on renaming the repo to docs.luanti.org? |
01:41 |
MTDiscord |
<mark.wiemer> sry, I'd create issues myself, but GH just hates me. This is what I see when I try to search for issues |

<wsor4035> check the console for errors? hard refresh the page? |
01:42 |
MTDiscord |
<wsor4035> the first is more for stupid spa's, and github isnt that |
01:46 |
MTDiscord |
<mark.wiemer> Got it working, https://github.com/luanti-org/dev.luanti.org/issues/171 for comprehensive content review and #170 for renaming to docs.luanti.org |
01:47 |
MTDiscord |
<wsor4035> i mean, now that the wiki is merged in officially you can turn your spelling thing on in ci |
01:58 |
MTDiscord |
<mark.wiemer> There is a special wiki template containing the version number at [1], used to make updating various wiki pages by hand less tedious. Update it so it includes the latest version. Â Did we preserve this? Right now it's a 404, not sure if we can remove it or if we need to fix it. https://docs.luanti.org/engine-dev-process/releasing-luanti/#update-wiki-version-template |
01:58 |
MTDiscord |
<mark.wiemer> Created https://github.com/luanti-org/dev.luanti.org/issues/172 for this |
02:00 |
MTDiscord |
<wsor4035> you dont need to make an issue for everything |
02:01 |
MTDiscord |
<wsor4035> anything media wiki can just be burned |
02:02 |
MTDiscord |
<mark.wiemer> Trust me, this is far from everything. And this is literally what issues are for. We can close them if we don't see value, but I'm not going to try to track issues in a single-threaded Discord chat |
02:03 |
MTDiscord |
<wsor4035> i mean its probably on me that i should have caught that and stripped it as its media wiki junk on import |
02:06 |
MTDiscord |
<mark.wiemer> https://github.com/luanti-org/dev.luanti.org/pull/173 ready for review |
02:07 |
MTDiscord |
<mark.wiemer> Gonna be done with links for now, others are welcome to chip in here! Not sure if I'll even get to this tmrw, my initial plan was an hour a day starting Monday, like last week, so don't count on me to do lots of urgent work this weekend |

<wsor4035> merging in 5 |
02:12 |
MTDiscord |
<mark.wiemer> We merge PRs really fast 😦 I mean I guess others are OK with it, just worries me that things aren't getting properly reviewed. But again, seems the team has been fine with this, so I won't make too much of a fuss |
02:12 |
MTDiscord |
<wsor4035> nice + loc change btw 😉 |
02:13 |
MTDiscord |
<mark.wiemer> haha |
02:13 |
MTDiscord |
<wsor4035> remind me how your engine pr is going again would ya? |
02:13 |
MTDiscord |
<mark.wiemer> Anyway, I don't have a alternative review proposal. Fast is often good. I think it's fine |
02:14 |
MTDiscord |
<wsor4035> its documentation, worst we can do is tell people to remove the french langauge pack |
02:14 |
MTDiscord |
<wsor4035> and them be dumb enough to do it, but thats on them |

MTDiscord |
<rollerozxa> @celeron55 could you rename the #minetest-docs IRC channel too to go along with the other IRC channel renames? |
17:27 |
MTDiscord |
<celeron55> Nothing I do is crucial there, it's just that the logging bot, the discord bridge (and does this have a matrix bridge too?) need to be pointed at the new channel roughly at the same time |
17:27 |
MTDiscord |
<rollerozxa> fair |
17:27 |
MTDiscord |
<rollerozxa> yeah this seems to be bridged to matrix too |
17:29 |
MTDiscord |
<rollerozxa> and sfan5 isn't even in this IRC channel. I guess it can wait but blockhead was asking about it in the forums |
17:29 |
MTDiscord |
<celeron55> Ok, I'll organize the logging bot with sfan5 and report back |
17:29 |
MTDiscord |
<rollerozxa> sounds good |
17:31 |
MTDiscord |
<celeron55> It'll take sfan5 an undeterminate amount of time to do it |
18:53 |
MTDiscord |
<wsor4035> roller: seems your becoming the projects pr person, or the person willing enough to deal with the forums |
18:56 |
MTDiscord |
<rollerozxa> I do feel like ever since the old wiki was shut down, the forums have become slightly more responsive now as a result 😄 |
18:59 |
MTDiscord |
<wsor4035> placebo affect or real tho? 🤔 |
19:11 |
MTDiscord |
<mark.wiemer> oh I get it, PR as in public relations lol |
19:11 |
MTDiscord |
<mark.wiemer> My experience with the forum was pretty good yesterday, but I still hate phpBB with a burning passion lol |
19:13 |
MTDiscord |
<wsor4035> forum would be ok, if i didnt have to wait 10 years for it to load |
19:13 |
MTDiscord |
<wsor4035> also commenting is an additional 10 years |
19:14 |
MTDiscord |
<rollerozxa> (massive overexaggeration) |
19:16 |
MTDiscord |
<wsor4035> ||obviously i would hope|| |
19:17 |
MTDiscord |
<wsor4035> if you check it everything like three days, by the time you reach opening the last page, the first page should have finally loaded |
19:18 |
MTDiscord |
<wsor4035> assuming the forums isnt in a 50* mood |
19:19 |
MTDiscord |
<wsor4035> reporting is broken as well, but at least it now has an active staff member (blockhead) - thanks |
19:39 |
MTDiscord |
<mark.wiemer> Are there any reasonable steps we can take to improve things? |
19:55 |
MTDiscord |
<wsor4035> on the forums? no |
19:56 |
MTDiscord |
<wsor4035> its been offered to take it off c55 hands before, the answer has been no |
20:53 |
MTDiscord |
<mark.wiemer> What is the cause of the slowdown? Self-hosting with slow hardware or something else? |
21:00 |
MTDiscord |
<rollerozxa> > it's a (believe it or not) a dedicated server, hosted in france, with an intel atom C2338, 4 GB of RAM and a SanDisk X400 2.5 7MM 128GB SSD |
21:52 |
MTDiscord |
<mark.wiemer> I have no idea whether that's sufficient for the forums. Do we have metrics on CPU and RAM usage over time? Has anyone identified anything with a known fix? |
22:14 |
MTDiscord |
<wsor4035> it runs on a potato, and c55 is.... c55 |
22:14 |
MTDiscord |
<wsor4035> no, because its only c55, c55 is..... c55 |
23:49 |
MTDiscord |
<wsor4035> im doing links btw |
