Time Nick Message 15:18 Zughy[m] Hello. It's been 8 days since I've started asking celeron for a Minetest LiberaPay collective group. I've pinged him twice and contacted him in private, but he's never replied. Let me get this straight: I'm spending my time and money to promote Minetest in physical spaces around half of Italy, I've made a poster and a flyer that required me a week which I've shared with the community (community who's also helped me), I've provided info 15:18 Zughy[m] about how to do what I requested, so answering to one single yes/no fucking question in 8 days doesn't seem so hard in comparison, does it? This silence treatment is toxic and it shouldn't be tolerated from the one who's in charge. 15:18 Zughy[m] So can we please adopt a horizontal approach and have a saying in 24 hours? I would have asked you for more, but the first event is this Saturday (I'll showcase Minetest in a foss festival in Verona) and getting the site and the description ready takes time, so it's better not to rush it. 15:18 Zughy[m] My request is the following: have a collective page on Liberapay for Minetest where core team members who want to receive donations out of Minetest can receive them. The split would be equal, except for people who host something for Minetest (e.g. the website, CDB) that want to cover their expenses: they'll have the priority. The page would act as the official Minetest donation page. 15:19 Zughy[m] Also: yes, I could tell people to donate to me, but I find it highly unprofessional, not fair, and it's also perceived as shady 15:41 MTDiscord Complaining that someone isn't following your timetable is also toxic. Volunteers have lives outside of the internet, consider the possibility that he simply hasn't has time. 15:42 MTDiscord Had time* 15:44 celeron55 wait where has this even been? I see nothing on my IRC client which is what i mainly follow 15:45 celeron55 email would be pretty good also for reliable contact 15:46 celeron55 nonsensical to "go public" about someone not responding on... well i literally don't know where 15:46 MTDiscord celeron55: Have you checked the forums? 15:46 celeron55 i'm fairly sure a discord PM wouldn't have went past me. A forum PM would neither, I'm subscribed to emails about those 15:48 celeron55 so it must be matrix only then? that i only check when i'm extremely bored which hasn't been the case for months 15:51 celeron55 anyway 15:51 celeron55 i think it's a reasonable idea, and i would appreciate that someone who's more bored than i could figure out the details about it 15:52 celeron55 i'd also like to hear opinions from other core devs 15:54 celeron55 about the non-response: it is also possible that i missed message on IRC. I've been on the go lately with choppy internet and the laptop running out of battery, and my bouncer setup isn't perfect in terms of presenting everything in a way that i would notice messages afterwards in those cases 15:55 celeron55 so, really, for serious things, just use email please 15:55 celeron55 at least before complaining publicly 15:56 Pexin wasn't there some hiccup with the matrix bridge for a while too? 16:06 celeron55 eh wtf, i'm trying to see liberapay's options for github minetest org that was automatically added there by the request of donors, and now i'm not sure whether i ended up under it solely, or whether i AM it now, or what on earth happened 16:07 celeron55 i'd really like to not get those donations to myself so sorry if that happened 16:08 celeron55 i can't find any options page for the minetest organization so i guess it's me now. i also can't find a way to cancel it. this is stupid 16:13 Zughy[m] celeron55: two times on dev and once privately on IRC 16:15 celeron55 so all IRC? well looks like it's been at unfortunate times then 16:15 celeron55 if i understand this correctly, it now looks like as a result of trying to figure out how liberapay works, i took the donations of the pre-added minetest github organization to myself personally. what do you think of that? how can this be reverted? 16:16 Zughy[m] Wait, don't you receive a notification anyway? How this '89 technology works aaaaa 16:16 celeron55 also, i don't have time for this now 16:16 celeron55 i need to work and prepare for a long trip starting after 3 weeks 16:17 Zughy[m] GreenXenith: As far as I could have known, he could have ignored me. It's something that happens to anyone in this community, so go figure 16:17 celeron55 my IRC setup is irssi and znc. it doesn't work well while on the move, reconnecting all the time 16:19 Zughy[m] I thought IRC was my safe bet to find you. Well, in case I'm sorry for having vented, I'll opt for the mail next time 16:20 celeron55 i don't see in my logs that you'd have hilighted me here 16:20 celeron55 and i don't see an IRC PM in my logs 16:20 celeron55 i don't know what happened but if i don't have it in my logs, i definitely haven't seen it 16:21 Zughy[m] 5th may and 2nd may 16:21 celeron55 PMs? 16:21 Zughy[m] No, here 16:21 celeron55 ah, now i found them 16:22 celeron55 well, goes to prove how busy i was last week 16:22 celeron55 ...not saying i'm not busy now 16:22 celeron55 but please 16:22 celeron55 get comments from core devs 16:23 celeron55 i don't feel i should make the liberapay team solely for you and me 16:24 Zughy[m] Sure, I just wanted an answer, thanks for your time 16:28 celeron55 regardless of how obvious and the best solution a liberapay team seem to you, the landscape around these things is complex and people have strong opinions, and people already are on services other than liberapay too. personally i do like liberapay, but it does not mean a liberapay team is actually achievable. i would hope so, but let's wait for the comments 16:31 celeron55 also, i would like to have more time for minetest, but i also don't want minetest to be the only thing i've done in my life. so it is how it is 17:28 Zughy[m] Anyway, you don't forcibly have to be the one who creates the team. Any member is treated equally and can invite other members. If the one who started the group leaves, the group remains intact (I've been there). In short, if there is any consensus, the team can be started by anyone of us with a Liberapay profile 19:08 MTDiscord I would probably be wary of contributing to a "core devs" or "core team" account, considering that the standard for what constitutes e.g. a "core dev" seems to vary widely per person. I'd probably rather just direct my contributions at individuals based on how I value their contributions, and what actual expenses they may have. 19:09 MTDiscord Toward that end, it might be nice to know who hosts what, I suppose, but I don't know if such a list has ever been published. 19:09 rubenwardy https://www.minetest.net/get-involved/#reporting-issues 19:10 MTDiscord ugh, that table is outdated 19:13 MTDiscord ...and it links to https://github.com/minetest/minetest.github.io/issues/222, which seems like it answers Zughy's original question anyway, making mine rather less important... 19:46 rubenwardy how is it outdated? Missing irrlicht? 19:48 rubenwardy also blog
