<exe_virus> I for one still use a certain PR for my developement on mesemon |

weird that PUC Lua doesn't accept BOM and LuaJIT does |
02:48 |
pgimeno |
oh that's actually the case |
02:49 |
pgimeno |
the command line lua gives an error a file with a BOM, while the command line luajit just ignores it |

pgimeno |
an error for* a file... |

sorry for insisting, shouldn't be the roadmap merged now that 5.4 has been released? |
10:54 |
sfan5 |
the roadmap PR still looks WIP to me |
10:55 |
sfan5 |
much more important than that would be to put the discussed approach for PRs into action https://github.com/minetest/minetest/pull/10536#issuecomment-714488849 |
10:57 |
nerzhul |
sorry fbut the roadmap is not clear |
10:57 |
nerzhul |
it's too cloudy |
10:57 |
nerzhul |
we should define more precisely the goals |
10:58 |
nerzhul |
especially for the short term (which should be the next release) and medium term, which should be defined at next release + 1 and + 2 |
11:00 |
Zughy[m] |
<nerzhul "we should define more precisely "> don't go that way. I guess you didn't follow the prior discussions (the ones before the PR I mean), but it was basically paramat telling me that it was obviously pointless |
11:00 |
nerzhul |
i think for long term, it's more ideas, for medium term it's more precise idea,s and for short term it's what we plan for next release |
11:00 |
nerzhul |
it's far more better than putting we should do something, but what is something ? :D |
11:01 |
nerzhul |
for example medium or short term: use our own irrlicht instead of the regular unmaintained one |
11:02 |
nerzhul |
we should define the roadmap also for the irrlicht fork and one other on mtg |
11:02 |
nerzhul |
and involve people in a brainstorm meeting in order to decide |
11:02 |
Zughy[m] |
<nerzhul "it's far more better than putti"> I don't think you can agree on something specific |
11:03 |
nerzhul |
what do you mean ? |
11:04 |
Zughy[m] |
that in order to have that roadmap, I had to stomp my feet, eat shit and had the luck to be considered by a core dev |

but that's what celeron and ruben said |
11:06 |
rubenwardy |
Yeah, the roadmap needs updating to include the policy we decide |
11:06 |
Zughy[m] |
there was also another discussion here on IRC but I'm on the phone right now |
11:11 |
Zughy[m] |
the TL;DR in the comment sfan linked says it all. There's also v-rob suggesting for tags to be added in order to see at first glance if something sticks with the roadmap (I think it's a good idea) and I guess editing the PRs form with a "is this in the roadmap/a bugfix?" wouldn't hurt either |

how to enable postgresql support? |
13:30 |
sfan5 |
pass -DENABLE_POSTGRESQL=ON to cmake |
13:32 |

cmake is not wanting me to enable it lol "-- Could NOT find PostgreSQL (missing: PostgreSQL_TYPE_INCLUDE_DIR) (found version "13.2")" - i have installed postgresql-server-dev-all from Debian. wrong package? |
13:35 |

try libpq-dev too |

thanks! I had to also add -DPostgreSQL_TYPE_INCLUDE_DIR to point to the installed header! |
