Time Nick Message 06:05 tumeninodes question, is there any specific reason, related to Irrlicht, etc. that MTG textures use rgb rather than srgb? Just asking as I'm going through textures to optimise rn 06:56 rubenwardy Fewer letters is better, obviously 06:56 rubenwardy Urgh, *are 06:56 rubenwardy My English would be better if I wasn't so tired all the time, I swear 06:58 tumeninodes Haven't been getting much sleep myself, so I feel your pain 14:51 sfan5 ~tell paramat does this quality as "large dungeon room" or whatever? https://0x0.st/zvF5.png 14:51 ShadowBot sfan5: O.K. 15:53 Calinou to answer tumeninodes' question, Minetest doesn't use HDR rendering so the benefit would likely be limited 16:26 tumeninodes Calinou: thank you. I had only wondered as I recalled a couple times a user shared logs of their install complaining of incorrect color profile, and I had resolved it by setting the textures to srgb which resolved it. However, I did not take into consideration it was most likely related to the mode/calibration profile they were using on their monitor, so this may have cause issues for those who do not have their monitor set to srgb 16:26 Calinou oh, that's a libpng thing 16:27 Calinou please send pull requests to mods to fix their images :) 16:27 tumeninodes yes, MS related 16:27 Calinou nobody has convinced libpng upstream to silence the warning, so that's all we can do 16:27 tumeninodes would gimp's "rgb workspace with srgb built in" do anything? 16:28 tumeninodes that is the one feature of gimp I do not understand fully... does it mean it covers both adobe and standard? 16:32 tumeninodes dumb question I know 16:41 tumeninodes At any rate, I will just keep things as is 16:41 Conradish006 Hello! 16:42 Conradish006 Oh! i don't have to be granted voice! 16:54 tumeninodes ok, yeh... most definitely keeping with the status quo, man this stuff gets confusing even with Elle explaining it. Let's not ever allow MT to go High Def... deal? xD a year old topic but still relevant https://discuss.pixls.us/t/what-is-the-gimp-srgb-working-space/9401 16:54 Krock will merge #8989 in 15 minutes 16:54 ShadowBot https://github.com/minetest/minetest/issues/8989 -- Attachments: Fix attachments to temporary removed objects by SmallJoker 16:54 tumeninodes ok, Im off and back to -hub where I belong ; ) 17:09 Krock mergign 17:11 Krock done 20:20 paramat heh yes. only the 1st room of a dungeon is guaranteed to be completely underground. previously, only the 1st room could be 'large'. now, any room can be 'large' so large rooms now occasionally intersect the surface. should be rare though and seems a nice feature 20:21 sfan5 I see 20:51 sfan5 Wuzzy: There are no pending changes to MTG that touch strings (in fact there are no pending changes at all), so you can update the string safely now. 20:51 Wuzzy alright 20:51 sfan5 Of course since this isn't a formal string freeze, there is no guarantee. But it's unlikely. 20:51 Wuzzy thanks 21:13 Wuzzy sfan5: https://github.com/minetest/minetest_game/pull/2512 21:17 Wuzzy I suggest that, when string freeze is official, to post official announcement in News thread. Also plz tell the forum that MTG is translatable. 21:22 rubenwardy string freezing isn't actually mentioned in the guidelines 21:30 Wuzzy oh 21:30 Wuzzy well thats dumb 21:46 sofar it ought to be 21:47 sofar I mean, I hate translating/translations/internationalization, but, really, we should give folks who do want to do that work the time to do the work 21:50 rubenwardy It should be an automatic thing as part of the freeze 21:58 Wuzzy why do you hate it? 22:21 paramat hm i can't seem to be able to join a locally hosted server, it just times out ... 22:30 paramat don't know if related, but since updating to ubuntu 18.04LTS i no longer get a clickable executable in bin (i use run in place true), instead i have somehting described as a 'shared library (application/...' 22:33 sfan5 that's due to position-independent code (PIC) 22:34 paramat ok thanks
