22:13 jonadab         I was growing wheat and cotton.  I keep noticing that it doesn't seem to matter how long I stay away for.  I mean, at one point I built a rail line from more than 1400 tiles below the surface up to a nearby landmass and used it to ferry a bunch of cobblestone up from the depths, which I used to build a large and elaborate castle.  When I went back to check on my crops, they weren't ripe yet; but then

22:39 jonadab         I've explored, hmm, maybe 50 landmasses.  Granted, most of those were other biomes.  But at least half a dozen of them were savanna, and several had jungle.  So far no papyrus.

22:41 jonadab         When I first started exploring, I made the mistake of assuming that biome distribution would mirror the real world, so e.g. I assumed that icepack-type biomes would mainly occur near the north and south poles.

22:42 jonadab         But yeah, I generated somewhere north of 0 in a biome with ice caves and pine trees, so I assumed I had to go _south_ a long ways to find jungle and get cotton and make a bed.
