01:18 Corey[m] MaybeItsMia: the creative mod requires the default mod as well, unless you have a copy of the latest one from minetest_game (check github), I just skimmed the code and didn't see any references to get_hotbar_bg in it

01:19 MaybeItsMia Yeah I got a version of minetest from lutris, which was version 4.something. I instead installed the version from the ubuntu repo and it's 5.1

03:05 MaybeItsMia So I want to make a mod that introduces more stone types, ala dwarf fortress. Is their a way to make it so stone types are different on the biome level? without making multiple stone variations of each biome preferably.

08:36 jas_ best mods, but you are forced to mod.  i tried minecraft once and to install a mod i found it hard, sorry for the anecdote.  anyway, modding is still limited to the engine

08:38 jas_ minetest doesn't specialize in them i hear, and another example is you cannot have animated meshnodes, or nodes in-game made of models that animate?  i dunno, the entity physics, and most physics are in the server.  most everything is in the server, so there's a lot of lag

08:39 jas_ there's CSM, and that helps i guess, but it's awkward at best considering you have to set a bunch of settings to enable it in the first place

10:02 AlexYst I was taking a look at the changes in Minetest Game as of 5.1.0, and it seems that dirt can no longer be turned into dirt with dry grass, as it's no longer a spreading dirt type and dirt no longer reacts to dry grass on top of it. Or is there another way I missed? The same behaviour seems to apply to dry dirt with dry grass; it can't be added to the world by players either. Or did I miss something there as

10:06 AlexYst Actually, it looks like dirt with dry grass is no longer generated. Like dirt with grass footsteps, it seems to be a legacy node now. That's probably why it doesn't spread, but it seems odd it's not aliased to dry dirt with dry grass if that's the case.

10:57 AlexYst VanessaE: I'm not really looking to "correct" anything, just make sure I've correctly interpreted the code so the behaviour can be accounted for in some mods of mine.

11:02 AlexYst Also, other things mods might use have been aliased in the past.
11:04 AlexYst Some of the mods I use, for example, depend on the presence of fertile mushrooms and mushroom spores, so another mod has to add them back to the game, as those are aliased to infertile mushrooms. It seems odd that legacy dirt types aren't given the same treatment and aliased.
