10:12 MinetestBot IhrFussel: May-15 15:59 UTC <ShadowNinja> IIRC the areas mod only actually sends the HUD update if the areas change.  But it does have to check your areas regularly to update the HUD.  You could probably set up some sort of "last player position" cache to try to avoid the calculation for players that haven't moved, but I'm not sure how much you'd save.
