I used client install to create a world. I then launched it via terminal so my daughter and I could play via in-house local server. It worked fine for past couple weeks. I suspect someone might have hard shutdown the PC during Minetest being in a state of running. Not sure if that is related or not. But now when I try to launch an instance of the world (via gui) I get the 06:42 Putz3000 following error message: 06:43 Putz3000 ERROR: A serialization error occurred: Server Environment::loadMeta(): EnvArgsEnd not found! The server is probably running a different version of Minetest 06:44 Putz3000 I was running 0.4.11 via fedora 21 and received this error. I just finished upgrading to fedora 22 and Minetest is running as 0.4.12 but still has the same problem. 06:56 Putz3000 NVM, I found this link: https://forum.minetest.net/viewtopic.php?id=8125 and made the suggested changes to the env_meta.txt file and it seemed to work. Was it a big network? 15:58 Sokomine twoelk: i've built a similar tower already. the biggest problem right now is that part of the mine that's above ground. the tower as such is pretty nice, but i'd also love to have tunnels in nearby hills 15:58 Calinou rubenwardy, about 100 users… it's a pretty small one 15:58 rubenwardy oh 15:58 Calinou TBH it would have been better to stay on freenode 15:58 Phosphan really strange. all mods off = works again, all mods on = still works. We'll never know. 15:58 Calinou they don't officially allow gaming but you'll be fine 15:58 rubenwardy Inchra.net was the gaming one though? 15:58 Calinou GameSurge and QuakeNet should be avoided like the plague: no TLS, proprietary services 15:59 Calinou but GameSurge has the good practice of cloaking all users 15:59 twoelk it might have had more traffic than he could afford :D 15:59 Calinou something all networks should do by default :P 15:59 Phosphan sfan5: Thanks anyway. 16:00 Phosphan bye all, have fun. 16:00 Sokomine hm. traffic in irc? with about 100 users? that ought to be neglictible 16:00 twoelk Sokomine: how do you detect suitable hills/cliffs? 16:01 twoelk but compared to freenode inchranet was rather noisy 16:03 * twoelk has just run the mtmappergui and sees many suitable cliffs on VE-C 16:04 init Calinou: cloaking gives you a false sense of security fwiw 16:05 rubenwardy Does doxygen use doxygen to document its source? 16:06 init Calinou: there are known ways to bypass cloaks in freenode, as an example 16:07 Calinou we know, the usual one is telling someone to visit a Web page 16:07 Calinou doesn't make cloaks useless 16:07 init no 16:07 init I mean within IRC 16:07 init without having the user to do anything 16:07 Calinou do you think the military should wear bright green clothes instead of camo clothes? 16:13 CWz Patches for windows is like what cheese burgers are for 21st Century average joe 16:14 init rubenwardy: you can write a compiler/interpreter in a fancy language that lets you do it easily (some ML?) and then, using that `POC` compiler, compile the new interpreter/compiler 16:14 rubenwardy cheap, rubbery, fall apart? 16:14 VanessaE rubenwardy: in the old days, it meant using a machine code monitor an typing the CPU instructions in by hex values. 16:14 init rubenwardy: it doesn't need to be hand-compiling 16:14 init rubenwardy: that's a crappy definition 16:14 rubenwardy init, I'm reading from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bootstrapping_%28compilers%29#The_chicken_and_egg_problem 16:14 rubenwardy It's one of the methods 16:14 init yes, the one real programmers do, obviously 16:14 init I am talking about the sane approaches :) 16:15 init rubenwardy: anther typical one, is having an interpreter interpreter the compiler 16:17 init it's not an extremely complicated thing, given that you keep your language sane 16:18 twoelk http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/a/a5/CNAM-IMG_0527.jpg <- early programable machine 16:18 init (as a funny thing, it's impossible to write an interpreter of a dependently typed language on itself!) 16:21 CWz the characters at #minetest-dev are speaking gibberish/techobable again 16:40 NekoGloop heyo 16:46 CWz NekoGloop seems familiar. 16:46 NekoGloop yes 16:47 Sokomine hi nekogloop 16:47 NekoGloop hiya 16:53 NekoGloop I made that thing with the name like mine 17:51 blaise herro? 18:07 Jordach MineTest Game 18:07 blaise Jordach: it's a recent git clone 18:07 blaise as in last night 18:07 blaise everything has been recently updated 18:08 Jordach global tables like default can only be read of the mod has depends.txt with default in it 18:08 blaise and CWz's comment about pre-minetest-minetestnext has me confuzled 18:08 blaise ah 18:08 Jordach mesecons needs that inserted somewhere 18:10 blaise can depends.txt be in the root structure of the modpack? with modpack.txt ? 18:10 blaise or does it have to be located with init.lua ? 18:10 ElectronLibre depends.txt is related to a mod, not a global group. 18:10 ElectronLibre So I would say, in a mod folder, not a modpack folder. 18:10 blaise it's seemingly something to do with hydroturbine 18:11 blaise none of the other mesecons mods in the pack contain a depends.txt 18:11 blaise blaise@midterm2 ~/minetest/mods/minetest-mod-mesecons/mesecons_hydroturbine $ echo "default" >> depends.txt 18:11 blaise XD 18:12 blaise cheese and rice.. 18:12 blaise torch died 18:12 blaise lol 18:13 blaise mesecons_torch is apparently non-coexistant with the torches mod 18:14 * blaise makes huge frowny face 18:14 blaise lmao 18:14 ElectronLibre I think, the best way to solve your problem is to open the depends.txt in mesecons-modpack/mesecons, even create it, and add "default" in it. 18:15 ElectronLibre All mesecons_* depend on mesecons, then if default is loaded before mesecons, mesecons_* is okay. Then, consider updating your version, features in default might have been removed but still present in your copy of the code. 18:15 blaise indeed 18:16 ElectronLibre I saw a note about this in mesecons' code. 18:17 blaise 2015-05-30 18:16:39: ERROR[main]: ...ods/minetest-mod-mesecons/mesecons_hydroturbine/init.lua:26: attempt to index global 'mesecon' (a nil value) 18:17 blaise that's awesome 18:17 blaise k, it's just broke 18:17 blaise needs to be ported to minetest-0.4.12 18:17 blaise hehe 18:52 CaveJohnson o: 18:52 CaveJohnson heh, Calinou 18:52 CaveJohnson found you on the godot forums :D 18:52 Calinou hi CaveJohnson 18:52 Calinou I made a demo: https://github.com/Calinou/fps-test 18:53 CaveJohnson sorry to be offtopic, but is the HTML5 exporter still broken? 18:53 CaveJohnson or has it been fixed in master? 18:54 Calinou yes, it's still broken unless you fix it by hand 18:54 Calinou http://www.angluca.com/test/platformer.html 18:54 Calinou here is a working example 18:54 Calinou (sadly, we haven't replaced the Emscripten branding yet) 18:54 TheWild sorry about disturbing but... is that passing through walls ever to be fixed (or collission detection implemented) or "we won't do this because it's DRM"? 18:54 TheWild http://irc.minetest.ru/minetest/2015-05-10#i_4245002 18:57 VanessaE Calinou: needs left/right directional control during jumps 18:57 * Creeper need help setting static spawnpoint 18:58 Calinou you can control a bit in air 18:59 Creeper what that mean 18:59 Calinou I wasn't talking to you 18:59 Calinou Creeper, what's wrong with your static spawnpoint? 18:59 Calinou you define it in minetest.conf like this: static_spawnpoint= 0,5,0 18:59 Creeper ok 19:01 CaveJohnson damn, wtf 19:01 CaveJohnson this graphics card sucks 19:01 CaveJohnson nouveau: 0x00107b00 19:01 CaveJohnson spits out a load of them when trying the demo, Calinou :( 19:01 CaveJohnson i mean, my server does better at this then my PC does 19:02 CaveJohnson oh and then it segfaults 19:02 CaveJohnson other things also do this, so nothing to do with godot 19:06 Creeper i stilol need help with static_spawnpoint..... 19:06 Creeper *still 19:07 Creeper because i set the static spawnpoint, but it didnt work! 19:08 Calinou CaveJohnson, I use FXAA and glow 19:08 Creeper can anyone help me? 19:09 Calinou Creeper, explain “it didn't work” 19:09 Calinou did you set it while the server was shut down? 19:09 Creeper the server i cant even put up first.. 19:09 Creeper but the static spawnpoint didnt work! 19:09 CaveJohnson damn 19:10 CaveJohnson had to get off PC 19:10 CaveJohnson but yeah, godot is fantastic 19:10 CaveJohnson looking forward to playing with it 19:10 Creeper i wnet in minetest, found the location, exited minetest, set spwn point, and it still didnt work! 19:11 Calinou the spawn point is used in two cases: 1. when a new player joins, 2. when a player dies 19:11 jin_xi mapgen mods sometimes override spawn 19:11 Creeper i kow! 19:11 Creeper *know 19:16 Creeper hello? 19:16 Creeper 19:17 Calinou Creeper, consider asking on forums 19:17 Creeper agh.. ok... 19:19 * Creeper mad at his minetest 19:21 blaise lol 20:27 freelikegnu greetings :D 20:37 MinetestBot 02[git] 04SmallJoker -> 03minetest/minetest: Only retrieve always_fly_fast setting once 13b4dfaa3 http://git.io/vkVk9 (152015-05-30T22:29:36+02:00) 20:46 ajaypay how do i chat on trepca from here? 20:46 VanessaE http://webchat.digitalaudioconcepts.com/#trepca 20:46 VanessaE go there. 20:47 est31 you have to go to the inchranet irc network 20:47 ajaypay k 20:47 ajaypay thnx :) 20:50 ElectronLibre VanessaE: Do you have any idea about whether inchra's domain name is going to be working soon again or not? 20:52 VanessaE no idea, ElectronLibre 20:52 VanessaE for now just insert digitalaudioconcepts.com in place of inchra.net 20:55 ElectronLibre Yes, but I know people who find it really painful to have to use 6667, and would prefer using a SSL/TLS port. I managed to find an IP address, of horus apparently, a server which supports SSL. But if the IP changes, we will have to get back to no-SSL/TLS. And, we didn't manage to warn people from our server to use a new address (for example). But still, thanks for keeping providing a fixed domain name VanessaE. 20:56 VanessaE there IS a tls port also 20:56 VanessaE 6697 I think 20:58 ElectronLibre Usually, tls/ssl ports are 6697 (that's kind of a stantard) indeed, but your server doesn't provide any. 21:00 ElectronLibre Ok, nevermind, I just did a nmap mistake. 21:48 Creeper are you able to edit the priv names? 21:51 Creeper hello? 21:52 Creeper anyone? 21:56 sfan5 Creeper: you mean change something like "privs" to "apples_and_oranges"? 21:56 sfan5 if you mean that: no, you can't 21:56 fmcd any preferred linux distro to use when building a minetest server machine from scratch? 21:57 sfan5 fmcd: nope, most people use ubuntu or debian (afaik) 21:57 sfan5 night everyone~ 21:58 fmcd k. i think i'll go with ubuntu server 14.04 lts 64 bit 21:58 fmcd seeing as that can be exported to EC2 22:14 haiku Megaf? 22:14 haiku Megaf_ 22:14 haiku !server Megaf 22:14 MinetestBot haiku: Megaf Server v4.0 | mt.megaf.info:30003 | Clients: 6/11, 0/6 | Version: 0.4.12-Megaf / MegafXploreNext | Ping: 8ms 22:34 zat python sux 22:34 OldCoder o? 22:34 catninja zat: someone having a bad coding day? 22:34 * zat sits back to see the war 22:34 zat catninja: shhhh, I am throwing a flame 22:35 OldCoder um does not seem all that fiery 22:35 FluffyBunny Hi catninja 22:35 FluffyBunny Hi old colder 22:35 zat also, there are no bad coding days for me 22:35 FluffyBunny Hi zat 22:35 zat there are only languages not good enough for me 22:35 zat hi FluffyBunny 22:36 FluffyBunny I am unable to connect to inchra.net even though 22:36 zat define unable :D 22:37 FluffyBunny Hmmm? 22:37 zat % telnet inchra.net 30000 22:37 zat Trying 176.9.29.178... 22:37 zat Connection failed: Connection refused 22:37 zat Trying 2a01:4f8:150:31a2::2... 22:37 zat telnet: Unable to connect to remote host: Network is unreachable 22:37 zat (sorry for flood) 22:37 catninja zat: nah a human cannot work with the same efficency every day 22:37 blaise damn packet kiddies 22:38 zat blaise: define packet kiddy :D 22:38 FluffyBunny Yeah I was using digitalaudioconcepts.com which was working and then stopped :( 22:38 * FluffyBunny is stupid 22:38 blaise anyone that creates an exessive ammount of packets over any network anywhere 22:38 zat blaise: who falls in that category? 22:39 blaise people that cause unnecissary traffic. 22:39 blaise and I'm a non-spelling bastard 22:39 blaise pardon me 22:39 zat I just don't see why the comment 22:40 zat a huge percentage of the network traffic is spam 22:40 zat so... 22:40 FluffyBunny Aye 22:40 FluffyBunny i am the best spammer 22:40 FluffyBunny :D 22:41 * FluffyBunny oinks 22:41 catninja good reason to go to to bed 22:41 catninja night all 22:41 catninja and bunnies does not oink 22:42 FluffyBunny XD 22:42 FluffyBunny i am not a bunny though 22:42 zat enough internet for today? 22:43 * FluffyBunny meows 22:43 * zat pokes sfan5 22:43 zat <.< uh 22:44 * FluffyBunny pokes zat 22:44 zat poke this 22:45 FluffyBunny ....... 22:45 * zat grabs crotch 22:45 FluffyBunny You're stupid 22:45 zat no, I am funny. 22:45 zat right? everyone!? 22:45 FluffyBunny How old are you ? 22:45 * zat dances funnily 22:46 zat I am about 30 22:46 FluffyBunny Oh 22:46 * FluffyBunny walks away 22:47 zat http://uppix.com/f-bunny_dat_ass_lo556a3df000190d33.jpg 22:47 FluffyBunny ? 22:47 zat isn't that you? 22:48 FluffyBunny Idk 22:50 zat :P 22:50 FluffyBunny You always here? 22:51 zat roughly 22:51 FluffyBunny Oh okay . 23:15 Wuzzy Hi! I have a modding question: Is there a callback function when something in a player's inventory changed (i.e. item added or removed) 23:31 zat I searched and found nothing lol 23:31 zat what are you trying to do? 23:37 Wuzzy I try to add an icon which shows the inventory status 23:37 Wuzzy full or non-full 23:38 Wuzzy its not pressing, I could simpy check every second, it works but is ugly :/ 23:44 zat Wuzzy: try asking in #minetest-dev 23:44 nolsen What's the difference between v5, v6, v7, and singlenode. 23:45 nolsen s/./? 23:45 VanessaE v5 is like old minetest versions 23:45 Wuzzy nolsen: singlenode is the easiest mapgen 23:45 VanessaE v6 is the current thing 23:45 VanessaE v7 is new and still being tweaked 23:45 Wuzzy it only spawns one kind of node 23:45 VanessaE singlenode is the whole world is filled with one node (usually air)( 23:45 Wuzzy which is air by default 23:45 Wuzzy also, v7 and v5 need to be tweaked by mods before they are useful 23:46 Wuzzy they dont autogenerate trees and stuff, for example 23:46 VanessaE yep 23:46 Wuzzy but v6 could be (almost) used standalone, just the nodes need to be properly defined and be told to the mapgen 23:46 blaise I ended up with massive islands of stone in oceanic worlds 23:46 blaise and floaty islands too 23:48 zat I sometimes find floating sticks, too thin to be island so I assume they are mapgen bugs. 23:49 zat ABMs should have access to temperature and heat. 23:50 zat If they exist for biome calculation, why not for ABMs.
