01:48 Pilcrow looking a little at haskell, the functions have no "end"s... which I assume means that the language is entirely dependant on proper indentation. that feels backwards to me; I've always liked languages where the whitespace is ignored. a newline, a space, and a tab should all be treated the same, imo. that's one thing I like very much about lua...  :P
01:49 est yes, just like me
01:49 est I hate the ABC creep
01:50 Pilcrow not sure what you mean by ABC creep
01:50 est I'm not sure wasnt ABC the one that introduced this?
01:52 Pilcrow shows how much I know; I didn't even know there was a programming language called ABC...  :P

01:56 Pilcrow I think it's hard to read something that opens and has no visible close other than by position, anyway. makes my brain go bleah... still better than going the xhtml rout though; can you imagine if we ended our if-statements with </if>  :P
01:57 Pilcrow s/  :P/?  :P/

01:58 Pilcrow that's horrible lol

04:07 Pilcrow sofar, which mobs mod are you using? there are like 4 that use the same namespace, so I gotta ask, lol.
04:22 sofar Pilcrow: I didn't configure it, couldn't see how to, so it's running in default config?
04:23 sofar Pilcrow: oh sorry, misread

04:32 Pilcrow sofar: that's an odd error... do you have the latest version (commited 13 hours ago)?
04:33 sofar I git updated earlier, that crash was after I restarted the server after the git pull
04:33 sofar mind you, it had the error before the update too
04:35 sofar it appears the api.lua crashes in both line 812 and 815, not sure why, didn't read the code
04:35 sofar huh, that only makes sense if "self" is nil
04:36 sofar and it should indeed crash much earlier then
04:36 Pilcrow that's why it's confusing me too.

04:47 Zeno` must have been old
04:49 Pilcrow lol Zeno`... awesome song, btw. I LOVE Pink Floyd, especially the whole The Wall album...
04:52 Pilcrow Zeno`: the only cause I can think of is that the mob somehow got removed in the middle of its execution instead of waiting until it's done... the offending line just says "self.pause_timer = r", which would only cause an "attempt to index a nil value" error if self does not exist... but that doesn't seem to make sense, as the previous line also accesses self and doesn't cause an error...
04:53 Zeno` doesn't seem to crash for me
04:54 Zeno` Hey! Pilcrow! Leave them mobs alone
04:54 Pilcrow lol, Zeno`, I'm only trying to help...  :P

18:57 ShadowNinja So I changed somaphores from always using a *global* mutex lock on OSX to only using a local one if you're using OSX without C++11 with something other than a (not-so-)recent GCC (Feb 2006 or later).  It should also use atomic ops on semi-recent Clang, but I haven't found a way to check for the __sync_ family of functions on LLVM.

21:05 Hijiri is there a mod ideas forum for the creatively bankrupt
21:05 Hijiri or does that just go in feature discussion
21:06 kahrl there's a stickied thread for it in modding discussion
21:07 Hijiri thanks
21:07 Hijiri I have a bad habit of ignoring announcements and stickies
21:08 Hijiri unless I specifically expect what I'm looking for to be an announcement or sticky

22:28 Etzos This is probably a stupid question but why is it that mods aren't versioned? And tangentially, why is there no way to specify conflicts explicitly?
22:30 Hijiri might be cool to have a package manager / repository
22:31 xenkey Mine-get install
22:31 xenkey Mineman -S
22:31 xenkey Mineoo emerge
22:32 Etzos That's the reason I was asking.
22:32 Etzos I was thinking of building a system for doing that kind of thing.
22:32 xenkey Feel free
22:32 xenkey But you need a 'repo'
22:33 xenkey I'd be interested in this too
22:33 Etzos Well, I'm definitely in the early idea stage at this point. Just thinking about some of the possibilities.
22:34 xenkey Try a forum crawler
22:35 xenkey Or mod db parser
22:36 xenkey I'd just go with a repo
22:36 Etzos Yeah.
22:37 xenkey And spend some hours of your life compiling the names
22:37 Etzos At least initially. :P
22:37 xenkey May I suggest an array of links to git repos and names
22:37 Etzos Ultimately I think it would be better if I just let people point to their repo or upload a zip of the mod.
22:38 Etzos As long as those include an extra file with metadata.
22:38 xenkey any other mods are pleb tier, dont bother
22:38 xenkey Etzos: nonono we already have that
22:38 Etzos Oh?
22:39 xenkey Make a cli script to fetch the package list from a server then auto clone from that
22:39 xenkey You need a repo link, friendly name, and canonical name
22:40 Etzos Oh yeah. That's easy.
22:41 xenkey Yup
22:41 xenkey What language do you plan to use?
22:41 Etzos Whatever fits my fancy. XD
22:42 xenkey Try asm for the lulz
22:42 Etzos So portable it hurts. :P
22:42 xenkey Yeah

22:42 xenkey Python would be my choice
22:42 Zeno` Shrubberies!
22:42 Etzos Yeah, that's what I was leaning towards.
22:43 xenkey Zeno`: mese cabbage
22:43 xenkey Want to work together on this one?
22:43 Zeno` It's not dead; it's just sleeping
22:44 Zeno` Working together on the shrubbery?
22:44 xenkey No it's conpiling
22:44 xenkey No
22:44 xenkey Scroll u- oh wait
22:44 Etzos xenkey: Sure.
22:44 xenkey Alright
22:45 xenkey I'm sort of sleeping now, how's tomorrow?
22:45 Etzos Tomorrow is fine.
22:45 xenkey What time zone are you in by the way?
22:45 Etzos US Eastern.
22:45 Etzos But I live more like US Pacific. 9.9
22:45 xenkey er, what's the time there? :P
22:45 Etzos Or rather, my schedule is more like US Pacific.
22:46 Etzos Current time is 18:45.
22:46 xenkey GMT-5 ?
22:47 Etzos UTC-5, yes.
22:47 xenkey there's six hours difference but that shouldn't matter
22:47 xenkey Will we need a server though?
22:48 Etzos I think I can find something if need be.
22:48 xenkey Alright, awesome
22:48 xenkey Should we base it on github?
22:48 Etzos But if all we will be pulling is a simple list, we could just use GitHub to store that. XD
22:49 xenkey Oh yeah
22:49 xenkey True
22:49 Etzos I would say git in general.
22:49 xenkey I have a bsd server with git set if if you fancy something new
22:49 Etzos Adding support for other things like hg or svn wouldn't be too difficult either.
22:50 xenkey I was thinking http for downloading the list
22:50 xenkey Perhaps even rsync
22:50 Etzos Yeah.
22:51 xenkey I'm working on a minetest netcat sort of interface at the momemt too
22:52 xenkey Works great, just my implementation of rate limiting is a bit shite
22:52 Etzos XD
22:53 xenkey http://mtcm.eu/py/minerequest/
22:54 xenkey That last commit was so constructive
22:55 Etzos Can't survive without a header. :P
22:55 xenkey Yup
22:55 xenkey Consistency is key :)
22:55 xenkey Would you be willing to use these repos for the project?
22:56 Etzos Sure.
22:56 Etzos Oh, what license do you fancy?
22:57 xenkey I'll go for whatever, licenses aren't something i've had to care about in a while
22:57 xenkey I should read up on them :P
22:57 Etzos Fair enough.
22:58 xenkey Do you by any chance use xmpp?
22:58 Etzos I use a little bit of everything. So yes. :P
22:59 xenkey Awesome, mind adding me?
23:00 Etzos xenkey: I do not mind.
23:00 xenkey Alright, my JID is mark@dotx.me
