13:01 tenplus1 hi folks
13:03 rubenwardy hi tenplus1
13:03 tenplus1 hey ruben, how's things ?
13:03 rubenwardy argh
13:04 tenplus1 lol
13:05 tenplus1 Farming Redo was updated to speed up the new grains, players found them too slow to grow... also added a few noms
13:08 tenplus1 also added Sake to wine mod :P *hic*
13:10 Fixer nice
13:10 Fixer you always come up with good news
13:10 tenplus1 hi fixer...  I still need textures and recipes for new foods tho to make use of 'em
13:10 tenplus1 my sake bowl is kinda crappily drawn :P

13:46 tenplus1 hi benrob
13:47 jas_ hi tenplus1
13:47 tenplus1 hey jas
13:47 jas_ how's xanadu?
13:47 jas_ it's not a trick question! :D
13:47 tenplus1 running at present with 9 players... still waiting for parts to arrive
13:48 tenplus1 got an update ready to sort a few mods also, might be done tomorrow
13:48 jas_ oh something happen?  it seems there's a lot of hardware gone into the thing :)
13:48 jas_ is that a windows box?
13:48 tenplus1 linux
13:48 tenplus1 the psu malfunctioned and took a few components with it, got parts on order
13:48 jas_ i remember it was, mm, xxxx something what was his name?  and then someone else took it upon themselves to self-host, maybe on windows
13:48 jas_ maybe not.  but glad everyone helps out so much!
13:48 jas_ i really like firefox's music playlist thread, that reminds me
13:49 tenplus1 :P
13:49 jas_ https://forum.minetest.net/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=15550
13:49 jas_ my contribution is pretty stellar, i used it sometimes to stream because it did not trigger copyright
13:49 tenplus1 free moozak :D
13:50 jas_ hm, i think it would go good with this weird subgame i'm making.  i don't care about free art, music
13:50 jas_ i just like rdj
13:50 jas_ i don't think it's much possible to retain anything when it comes to muzak
13:50 jas_ calling it free is almost an insult, heh, i kid
13:51 jas_ https://twitch.tv/jastvn
13:52 tenplus1 could use some of that music locally for ambience to play during gameplay
13:52 jas_ yes
13:52 jas_ sometimes, i just take a mintetest sound (or make a sequence inside mt itself) and then just paulstretch it
13:52 jas_ get a good thirty, fourty minutes of ambient goodness
13:54 tenplus1 heh
13:55 benrob0329 hello tenplus1
13:55 tenplus1 o///
13:57 benrob0329 tenplus1: I'm slowly figuring out how some of this VoxelManip stuff works
13:58 tenplus1 it's tricky sutff with a lot of OOM issues, but handy :)
13:58 benrob0329 I have yet for anyone to confirm or deny whether ores and decorations work under singlenode though
13:59 tenplus1 singlenode map mode ? isnt that just a blank world to play with ?
13:59 benrob0329 yes, but if you have a Lua Mapgen it will add stuff
14:00 benrob0329 the question is whether you can use built in schematic decorations to ease the placing of random structures
14:00 tenplus1 if you add a chunk of stone for each mapblock it'll show if caves and ores appear inside
14:00 benrob0329 true
14:01 * benrob0329 writes that up real quick
14:04 benrob0329 they do not
14:05 tenplus1 onyl works when mapgen places the stone 1st before all else...
14:05 tenplus1 least we know now :D
14:06 benrob0329 question is, is there a way to call before the map is generated?
14:06 jas_ i made a seq mod
14:06 jas_ called it gen_music
14:06 jas_ think i made a forum thread, it read files
14:06 jas_ hehe
14:06 tenplus1 maybe in 0.5, but none that I know of...
14:07 tenplus1 usually on_generated then you can call decoration after but it's slow
14:19 rubenwardy <3 VoxelManip
14:20 rubenwardy benrob0329: have you read the book chapter? Would be good to get feedback on its understandability
14:22 entuland_ joined #minetest-hub
14:22 tenplus1 hi entuland
14:27 tenplus1 whaddya think of having crop seeds appear when digging grasses and the foods themselves not appearing on map ? (unless it's a village)?
14:28 rubenwardy my wordy friend said that the proper word to use there would be "comprehension"
14:28 tenplus1 :P
14:29 rubenwardy as a Linux user, I'm not a Word fan really
14:29 tenplus1 LibreOffice all the way
14:29 rubenwardy I try and avoid that too
14:29 rubenwardy <3 Latex & Markdown
14:30 tenplus1 isnt that hard to use ?
14:31 rubenwardy LaTeX is, but the results are really nice
14:31 rubenwardy like, professionally formatted documents
14:32 rubenwardy I prefer to use Markdown for other things though
14:32 rubenwardy like the modding book, for example
14:32 tenplus1 I tend to grab something that can accomplish the task quickly for documents and spreadsheets... would it do that ?
14:32 tenplus1 without a huge learning curve ?
14:32 rubenwardy no lol
14:33 rubenwardy LaTeX has a big learning curve
14:33 tenplus1 oof, nope nope
14:33 rubenwardy and to make good stuff with markdown, you need custom CSS
14:33 rubenwardy well, or CSS at least
14:33 * tenplus1 remembers AmiPro fondly and Lotus 1-2-3
14:37 tenplus1 having a latex gui that covers all bases would be an amazing advantage for linux's own document creation
14:46 scr267 joined #minetest-hub
14:48 Gael-de-Sailly i'm precisely writing a report in latex right now
14:49 rubenwardy this term I have no lectures or other contact hours
14:49 Gael-de-Sailly i'm always having troubles to find documentation about it, as it seems that there isn't one site that covers all features
14:49 rubenwardy I'll be writing a ~50 page report in latex
14:49 rubenwardy 50 pages or 50,000 words, I forget
14:52 tenplus1 I found a gui calle Gummi that looks interesting
14:53 rubenwardy oh?
14:55 rubenwardy oh right
14:55 rubenwardy overleaf is really good
14:55 rubenwardy well, sharelatex is really good. Overleaf is now good because they bought sharelatex
14:55 tenplus1 ooh an online editor... nice
14:55 rubenwardy it compiles faster than on my laptop
14:55 rubenwardy my old one at least
14:55 rubenwardy plus cool features
14:56 tenplus1 o.O gotta pay to use
14:56 tenplus1 ahh, free use with no collaborations
14:57 rubenwardy no no
14:57 rubenwardy it's free
14:57 rubenwardy it's also free with collaborations
14:57 rubenwardy although that may be because I was collaborating with people with @bristol.ac.uk accounts
14:58 tenplus1 I take it latex can handle tables, images etc ?
14:58 rubenwardy ofc lol
14:58 tenplus1 heh :) all I see is math scripts usually for examples :P
14:58 rubenwardy 99% of academic papers use LaTeX
14:58 rubenwardy you need support for images and tables and graphs for that
14:58 rubenwardy and yeah, maths is a big feature of latex
14:59 tenplus1 any major difference in file sizes ?
15:00 rubenwardy only due to how PDFs are done
15:00 benrob0329 rubenwardy: not yet, will read through it later
15:02 benrob0329 sofar: what do you think about me doing an ep of The Minetest Cinematic Series on ITB?

21:05 luk3yx Is there any way I can compile an Android-like (touchscreen friendly) build on Linux desktop?
21:06 luk3yx (Or change a setting in the existing build to make it touchscreen friendly?)
21:09 Krock HAVE_TOUCHSCREENGUI
21:11 Krock dunno where that's defined tho
21:12 Krock android/jni/Android.mk:-DHAVE_TOUCHSCREENGUI         \
21:12 Krock just add -DHAVE_TOUCHSCREENGUI to your build command and maybe it works
21:12 Krock ^ luk3yx
21:12 luk3yx Okay, I'll try that
21:24 luk3yx Parse error in command line argument: -DHAVE_TOUCHSCREENGUI
21:24 luk3yx Should be: VAR:type=value
21:24 luk3yx Do I need to do -DHAVE_TOUCHSCREENGUI=TRUE?
21:25 luk3yx Oh, that'd make more sense
21:25 * luk3yx tries
21:25 Krock that would be the cmake notation
21:25 Krock here you only need to define the macro
21:29 luk3yx It didn't do anything, aww.

23:28 rubenwardy cool stats
23:31 rubenwardy the bottom one shows the experience of players online - it adds up to 100%, the orange is noobs, the blue is people with >1000 score, yellow is >10000 score, and green is top 50 players

23:46 Calinou rubenwardy: did you get minetestserver to talk to Prometheus or similear?
23:47 Calinou that looks interesting, I need to look into monitoring/logging more (I only tried to run Prometheus/node_collector for fun so far)
23:50 rubenwardy I'm using a hacky method currently
23:51 rubenwardy https://github.com/rubenwardy/prometheus
23:51 rubenwardy there's a better mod available which powers the second one
23:51 rubenwardy and is a proper exporter
