09:25 paramat sorry for late reply. i'm fine with freezing everything except blockers, bugfixes and documentation. seems to me that actually started a week ago :) i just dislike the phrase 'feature freeze' because features can be blockers
09:28 paramat seems ok to 'aim' for a release in a month, but it can't be fixed because it depends on when the blockers are cleared. i suggest 2 weeks of testing after clearing blockers. note the 3D rotation thing is complex and needs careful attention
09:44 oiaohm paramat: I guess blockers would include fixing up those warnings that newer gcc are generating over memcpy?
10:00 paramat which github issue?

12:52 nerzhul paramat it's the goal of the freeze, & freeze != no dev => bugfix, doc are the main concern. Here we have finish feature PR as blocker we should not have more
12:52 nerzhul i should implement the pg backend until freeze for auth to make it nice for multi servers
12:52 nerzhul it's possible to be less struct and have some concensus on some feature for the freeze :p
12:53 nerzhul then tomorrow, at 23h59 UTC ? :p
12:54 Krock nerzhul: pg can wait for 5.1 as well
12:54 nerzhul ofc but it's not a huge backend to write
12:54 nerzhul auth backend is quite simple :)
12:54 jas_ as long as you can get from 5.0.0 to 5.0.1 smoothly you should be ok
12:54 nerzhul if i don't have time to publish the pr it will be delayed, no problem
12:55 nerzhul 5.1.0 jas_ :)
12:55 nerzhul patch will be patches :p
12:55 jas_ (i mean, as long as there aren't two "breaking" releases in a row)
12:56 Krock 6.0 will be the next breaking release
12:56 nerzhul yeah in a couple of days
13:02 nerzhul years*

18:05 rubenwardy Krock: the bug you found where modpacks wheren't being shown in configure was due to a rebase
18:05 rubenwardy fixed now
18:05 rubenwardy incidentally, I didn't find it in testing because I installed from CDB, which isn't effected by the bug
18:07 Fixer wait, was that bug I posted? will recheck because i had this problem
18:07 rubenwardy it was in a PR
18:07 rubenwardy #7892
18:07 ShadowBot https://github.com/minetest/minetest/issues/7892 -- Deprecate modpack.txt and use modpack.conf instead by rubenwardy
18:08 Fixer hmmm, if you select modpack in configure, you don't have hard-soft depends window anymore, is this a bug?
18:09 rubenwardy no, this is correct behaviour
18:09 rubenwardy mods don't have deps
18:09 rubenwardy oops
18:09 rubenwardy modpacks*
18:09 rubenwardy it could be more useful to summarise the mods in the modpack, though
18:10 rubenwardy like - get all the hard and soft deps, then remove and mods contained within the mod pack
18:11 Fixer rubenwardy: wait, but they do, like god damned Homedecor has three external hard depends: mtg, unified dies, economy iirc
18:12 rubenwardy homedecor doesn't have any dependencies though, the mods inside it do
18:12 rubenwardy the previous behaviour was to lie and show empty lists for hard and soft for modpacks
18:13 Fixer can't it be improved somehow?
18:13 Fixer it is very confusing
18:15 rubenwardy celeron55: do you read emails sent to addresses such as webmaster@minetest.net?
18:15 rubenwardy minetest.net/downloads got DMCA'd in august, so no longer appears in search results
18:16 rubenwardy web#151
18:16 ShadowBot https://github.com/minetest/minetest.github.io/issues/151 -- The downloads page is somehow get copyright claim and google censored them for it
18:16 rubenwardy ah, you should sign up for google webmaster celeron55
18:17 rubenwardy then you can file a counter notice
18:17 rubenwardy aha, found a link
18:18 rubenwardy counternotice requires a personal address
18:18 rubenwardy https://support.google.com/legal/contact/lr_counternotice?product=websearch&uraw=&hl=en-GB
18:21 rubenwardy help page: https://www.shoutmeloud.com/notice-of-dmca-removal-google-search.html
18:32 rubenwardy There's a bunch of stupid reports here
18:46 celeron55 did you handle it?
18:47 celeron55 i made sure i can check webmaster@minetest.net; seems there's nothing related to this in there though
18:49 rubenwardy I haven't yet
18:50 rubenwardy not sure I'm the best person to do so
18:51 celeron55 "Please also be advised that pursuant to subsections 512(g)(2) and (3) of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, if you submit a counter notification (whether through our web form or by other means), your contact information will be forwarded to the original complainant."
18:51 celeron55 well fuck
18:52 celeron55 in this case this probably isn't a problem but it might be in the future
18:53 Krock it's an open-source project so wth google
18:56 celeron55 there's no way there could have been a link to an illegitimate copy of anything on the downloads page at that date
18:57 celeron55 anyone can counternotice that
18:58 celeron55 https://github.com/minetest/minetest.github.io/blob/6ac5b9450b14992d26af7978e064bdefd60a6d32/downloads.html
18:58 celeron55 this was the content on August 09, 2018

19:07 p_gimeno any clues as to what the claim was?
19:09 sofar "Software piracy issue. Illegitimate copy of "E-m@il Games X-COM". Authorized official distributor in Russian Federation - 2K Games."
19:09 entuland ehehehe, chances are someone is selling a clone of minetest on their platform
19:12 hecks what
19:12 hecks did somebody try to dmca minetest?
19:13 sofar the download page
19:13 hecks ...huh
19:13 sofar if you google "minetest download" the /downloads page no longer appears
19:15 hecks oh no I'm a pirate now
19:16 hecks yeah it's gone, but minetest.en.softonic is apparently a-okay :^)
19:16 Krock time to use ddg
19:17 hecks isn't duck just scroogling?
19:17 p_gimeno the first page that appears is http://doku.minetest.net/download
19:17 p_gimeno that's a very outdated version, this is not good
19:18 Krock doku? that's indeed old
19:18 Krock 301 moved permanently
19:18 Krock -> //minetest.net
19:19 p_gimeno wut, I get the doku page and it has 0.4.13
19:20 Krock oh yes, my comment was a suggestion of what to do with the page :3
19:21 p_gimeno ah! sorry
19:21 celeron55 hmm, oops
19:23 entuland I'm a bit confused by the minetest.com mention there in -hub... is that some unofficial thing or just old uncleaned stuff?
19:24 Krock fan website. old, unmaintained.
19:24 entuland oh
19:28 hecks the download page actually says GNU/Linux, ha ha
19:28 hecks all these interjections finally paying off
19:40 p_gimeno I think you could use the fact that that page is not reported, to point to the correct downloads page
19:41 p_gimeno (to be clear, I mean the doku downloads one could link to minetest.net/downloads)
19:43 celeron55 i'll throw a link in there, i guess it'll help
19:51 celeron55 or, i guess remove all other content and add a link...
19:51 Ruslan1 What is http://minetest.com/
19:54 rubenwardy Unofficial dead fan site
19:55 Ruslan1 So it really bad one
19:57 celeron55 i guess the site is kept up due to ad revenue
20:10 rubenwardy it's not bad, it's just not alive anymore
20:11 nerzhul what is that github shit, talking about minetest to doing blockchain
20:11 Krock late stage joiner
20:12 Krock nerzhul: there was already some off-discussion in -hub if you're interested
20:12 nerzhul who, me ?
20:12 nerzhul okay will read
20:12 nerzhul i was with my children then i'm late heh
20:12 rubenwardy there's no need to read the OP
20:12 Krock oh. it wasn't meant to be offensive or critic. just a comment, nerzhul
20:13 nerzhul i i don't see any offense, but anyway ty :)
