07:21 hmmmm wow
07:22 hmmmm i just read the wikipedia "article for deletion" page on MT
07:22 hmmmm what a bunch of huge faggots
07:22 hmmmm i never really wanted to slug someone in the face so bad
07:23 hmmmm incredibly biased and there's not a thing you can do about it either...  which is ironic considering how wikipedia advertises itself as being open
07:24 hmmmm so glad i never donated to that dungpile

08:40 lordfingle Hello!
08:41 lordfingle Does anyone know if minetest "forgets" minetest.set_node calls if it has many of them in sequence?
08:41 lordfingle I've seen this happen with WorldEdit's "replace" command for example?

09:17 sfan5 lordfingle: never seen that happening
09:18 lordfingle I have been told that set_node requires things to be loaded.  Perhaps that's it? I'll investigate voxelmanip as an alternative.
09:20 troller joined #minetest-dev
09:21 sfan5 that sounds correct
09:21 sfan5 get_node doesn't work with unloaded MapBlocks either
09:22 lordfingle Visually the blocks don't seem unloaded, but the behaviour is there
09:23 sfan5 client caches mapblocks
09:23 sfan5 the server may have unloaded them already
09:24 lordfingle Of course.  That makes sense.  It has been reported there's alot of lag (and rubber banding) while this happens.  This may be it.
09:26 lordfingle get_nodes_in_area also returns inconsistent results.
09:26 lordfingle could be for the same reason

12:43 paramat lordfingle using set node in large numbers is very very slow, that's why the lua voxelmanip was created
12:43 paramat the lvm also makes sure the whole volume is loaded in

22:10 paramat hi hmmmm there's a complex and controversial PR being considered for particles, please could you have a look sometime? #4705 . i seem to remember you are not too happy with particle code, thought it a good idea you check this

22:22 est hmmmm: I'm generating a list of articles about minetest, and once there are enough I consider to give them to someone who wants to start a second run on getting minetest on wikipedia
22:22 est hmmmm: as minetest has los an AFD discussion, reopening at this point is basically suicide, as they'll ask "what has improved"
22:22 est unfortunately, none of the bigger tech newspapers has talked about minetest yet
22:25 celeron55 the way to make them talk is to make a press release that sounds important to someone who has no idea about minetest
22:26 celeron55 which is boring
22:27 est there was an article in forbes
22:27 est http://www.forbes.com/sites/adrianbridgwater/2016/06/26/the-internet-without-connection-free-endless-os-for-emerging-markets
22:27 est about endless OS
22:27 est which includes minetest
22:27 est but no mention of it :(
22:27 est also, probably even if minetest were mentioned, like the german news sites did, it alone wouldn't be enough
22:28 est https://www.heise.de/newsticker/meldung/Endless-OS-Reichhaltiges-Linux-System-fuer-den-Offline-Betrieb-3343374.html
22:30 celeron55 well i mean, for starters we could write a press release that says something like "wow, minetest is everywhere"
22:30 celeron55 and then spam it to every news publisher
22:30 celeron55 i hate marketing and PR; i won't do it
22:30 celeron55 someone else will have to
22:32 est me neither, but I can give my link collection to anyone who wants
22:33 est its not really big :'(
22:35 celeron55 (also i'm known for saying i won't do something and then doing it the next day in a complete whatever-the-hell-i-please fashion; i hope everyone hopes that won't happen in this case)

23:57 thePalindrome I feel what we really need is a subgame that has a scope of the "feed the beast" or "technic" packs
23:58 thePalindrome If I ever get around to making that ambience mod, the music for it is beautiful
